As in the previous review the 4 star rating is based on the hole-in-the wall scale. I have been coming here off and on(more often now that I’m retired) for over 20 years. Really nice staff and the owner Paul Miller is a nice guy. Yes it’s run down and dark, but I actually think if it was renovated it wouldn’t be the same. DJ plays Old School/New School and is always willing to take requests. Dance floor is small but it does have a pole for the more daring dancers(no stripping allowed though). Free food pretty much every day and it’s tasty. During the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays they take orders for fried turkeys which are quite good. Tip: when walking in the door during the daylight hours watch out for that first step until your eyes get adjusted, I’ve seen a few newcomers stumble and tumble.

Man hold up. Hood reviewer, have to do this. I did not even know they were on Unilocal. I am going to say this, if you like fancy things, friendly people and spacious place, Turning point is not for you. This is a definition of a Hole in the wall. So I will judge it as a hole in the wall. Not a club, restaurant or whatever, but as a Hole in the Wall. Now you may be wondering, Hood Reviewer, what is a Hole in the wall? Well and Hole in the wall is a small dingy place. Turning point fits the description of it. I have been going to the turning point for 8 yrs. I have to admit, I do like it. At first I was like this is scary. Now, I am like ok, its family. You have to take the Hole in the Wall for what it is. If you like the environment then you will like this place. Turning point, do have good strong drinks. I mean, strong. I remember I order a crown and coke. I got the drink and I took a sip. I was like whoa, where the coke. The bartender remarked, I put a splash of coke in there. So I have to admit, I kept on drinking it. I usually be in the back playing dominoes(bones). Now this is the real reason why I go there. I grew up play dominoes with my grandmother and that is something that I will always enjoy. There are some good games that go on back there. Turning point at night is like another world. If you don’t like hood and younger crowds, do not go. It’s get kind of crazy at night. Plus, I don’t think they ever close. I mean, I remember when Hurricane IKE came through and destroyed all the houses. Trees everywhere people were in distressed. I remember I was driving around and looking for a gas station. I drove past the Turning point and it was STILLSTANDING. I was in shocked. I stop, went in and they were drinking and they were in the back playing dominoes. It was like nothing even happen. lol. That’s the hole in the wall baby. Also, I have to say that the owner of the place is a really good guy. He always cooks every day for people who need to eat and for his customers. He will buy his customers drinks and he is a good domino player. I have learn something just talking to him. In conclusion, if you want to go to and hole in the wall. Where you have the regulars outside, bad parking, drink cheap drinks and play some dominoes then Turning Point is the place. I will say this again, this is not an restaurant or big time club. It’s an hole in the wall, so again I just judge this for hole in the wall. The only reason, why they are getting 4 starts is because of the parking and restaurant. I have to admit, even for a hole in the wall. They can do better
