The only positive thing i can say about this place is that the arepas aren’t bad, not good mind you, but not bad either. Took half an hour to get 4 arepas. The space is cramped. It was hot inside. They don’t know if they’re a pastry shop, a restaurant, a mini cake supply, a grocer or what. So consequently, they’re not going to any one thing well. The dagger in the heart is that we paid 25 dollars for 4 arepas, two of them vegetarian… seriously, don’t waste your time and money.

Il start by saying I don’t know anything about Venezuelan cuisine but in all honestly does that matter? I feel like this place brings a bit of homeliness to Westheimer between the various fast food outlets. Empanadas are delicious and the staff are sweethearts. Support local business and tuck in

Way too expensive. There is nothing in here that I cannot make at home and better besides the prices.

I love this place. I always order the Arepa De Perico which is a grilled gluten free corn patty filled with a eggs, tomatoes, and onion mixture. It is a classic Venezuelan breakfast that you eat like a stuffed pita. There is a green sauce, which is in the refrigerator on the right of the dining area, that you squirt into the arepa as you eat. The green sauce is not spicy and it adds a nice refreshing flavor. To drink, I always get a Café Marron which is similar to a Café Misto or Latte. The espresso here is the best and super powerful. The small mug will be enough to wake you up. I have had the Jugo(juice) as well and it is also very good. Empanadas and the hallacas(only available during December) are also very tasty. I have a gluten allergy and the Arepas & café marron never get me sick. There are 2 ladies who work the front. Both are a little soft spoken but extremely friendly and will remember you. Luz, the older lady, is there more and she is always on point. There is a slight wait for them to take your order if there is line of people, but the food is worth it. The longest line I have seen is 3 people in front of you and that is on a Sunday during breakfast. Most of the time, even during peak, there is only one or two people in front of you. The restaurant does cakes & has bakery items too. In sitting and eating breakfast, you will see many people leave with pastries and Togo bags. I would highly recommend this place for a nice relaxing breakfast, coffee, or pastries.

Every Venezuelan who claims to know how to cook Venezuelan food should know how to make an Arepa. I went in with high hopes since I had heard so much about this place. The arepa I ate was so bad I had to stop eating, I could tell they did not put enough water in the dough because it felt like eating a brick. They separated the avocado from the chicken in the reina pepiada, this ruined the flavor. The coffee I ordered was mostly froth, I had two sips and my coffee was already empty. I am never coming back, this place needs a lot of work.

You know… I tried hard to like this place. But in reality, it kind of falls flat in several areas. As far as pricing, only some things are overpriced, and some things are just okay. But it seems like more people are coming here to eat only the basic Venezuelan staples. And I mean the very basic staples. The bakery stuff? Not that great, apparently. And after I ordered the cassata, an Italian pastry(Venezuela has a lot of Italian immigrants, btw, so we are used to seeing Italian pastries all the time in Caracas), I could see why. I was disappointed — it was too sweet, didn’t have the right flavor profile, and the base was too crumbly. And it wasn’t cheap. Thankfully there are other options nowadays, with the Venezuelan community growing leaps and bounds in Katy and throughout Houston.

I come to this place very often and every time I come it is great. I really like the Cachitos and the empanadas. They have a lot of Italian-Venezuelan dishes and the service is always friendly. The place is very clean and organized. The parking could be a little bit of an issue when it is full or during peak hours but I have always found parking places every time I come.

Venezuelan food! I sure miss it, or should I say missed it. I come here to get Pabellon. Freshly made. It makes me feel like I am back in Maracaibo. Crack open a cold Malta Polar and I am in heaven. I am so happy I found this place. I would like to order some fresh bred next.

This place is beyond amazing! The food is authentic Venezuelan food! It’s always so fresh and tastes great not to mention the deserts! Just yummy! It’s a small place but it’s quiet and the staff is super friendly I come here with my family and even by myself sometimes. I recommend the empanadas and the Plato pabellon!

The service is good! The food is good as well! But I think for a cachapas with cheese for 7.95 is a lil costly and arepa with cheese for 4.95, otherwise they are tasty! Maybe their cheese are expensive then i will understand

This place is good, we had the Venezuelan breakfast with eggs, an arepa, fresh cheese, black beans and butter on the side. Everything was tasty. The cilantro — lime sauce and ajioli sauce were good. Empanaditas were delicious, definitely will come back for those.

Had a chicken Aperas, and it was delicious. Also I was given a latte for checking in and it hit the spot for me. Give them a try. Nice place and friendly people from Venezuela.

I’ve only had Venezuelan food once before in Denver and we didn’t love what we had ordered. When my cousin and his wife suggested Venezuelan, the hubs and I were excited to give it another go. There were several items that looked good so my husband and I ordered the scrambled egg arepa to share and we each ordered the cachapa — mine with just cheese and the hubs with chicken and cheese. We should have done the reverse. The arepa was light and fluffy but perfectly crisp on the outside. The scrambled eggs were nicely done and stuffed in the middle. The cachapa was new to us and probably not something we’d order again. The corn pancake was sweet and mine had a big piece of Venezuelan cheese that I couldn’t finish. The hubs enjoyed the chicken which had a really nice spice profile. To wash it all down I had passionfruit juice which was perfectly sour.

I was in the mood for something sweet do I decided to give this place a shot. When I came in I was shocked by the interior. It’s only been open for a couple of years but looked like it was at least a 20 year old building. The plastic was tinted yellow from age and not being properly cleaned and overall it just looked pretty run down. It took a while for someone to greet me and once she did she was pretty uneducated about what they served. I asked her what ingredients one of the cakes was made out of and she had no clue which I realized once I got the cake home and bit into it. The tiramisu was pretty good but the opera cake was gross. I wouldn’t go back because the pastries weren’t that great and more importantly they haven’t properly trained employees.

We stopped in here one morning to try it out. Place was very basic on the inside, not really the most tempting place to sit and dine in. The Venezuelan Breakfast-Desayuno Criollo was pretty lackluster. Nothing to rant about here. I ordered a cappuccino and it was just a basic latte(sorry — I love my foam and if you don’t know the difference between the two — then just offer the latte). We got a few pastries and they were tasty. When I checked in on Unilocal — I got a free coffee coupon. When I showed the lady at the counter she said they don’t accept them. Really — you’re going to tell a first time customer that you won’t honor a coupon — wow –just wow. Disappointed! Too many other superior places in this area with similar cuisine to go back. Good luck to ya!

So I’ve been taken here for breakfast a couple of times already and it won’t stop there. It’s a shame I live ITL because this place would be more of a regular if it weren’t so damn far from me! As Jordan N. wrote, it is one of the few Venezuelan places to hit up in Houston and they apparently have all of the baked/fried Venezuelan goodies you can imagine. I haven’t tried any of their desserts yet, but they do have a large variety from which to choose. I LOVE the empanada de pabellón. They’re filled with moist shredded beef, with some black beans, and fried ripe plantains — fried in a corn flour based dough. I could eat four of them; they are SO good. I’m addicted to the cachapa(it’s a corn mixture pancake folded over cheese) and empanada de queso as well. We come here for breakfast almost weekly. I workout on the weekdays to enjoy this place. If you’re looking for something different — rather than a croissant or kolache for breakfast, I’d highly recommend this place.
