Service was fine but phở was terrible– the noodles were bloated and tasted stiff and rubbery, like they’d been sitting in water for a while before being placed in the soup and the broth itself was bland with no herbs except for a few scallions, the meat was super tough and overcooked.

The rice noodle is too dry that I even could not swallow it. For the pot, it was not worthy for its price. You could find a lot better choice of Vietnam restaurant in Houston.

I usually stop here for a quick bite. Overall, everything I ordered presented itself and tasted like I want. Service was on par. I like their décor. To this day, I still admire the fans they have there.

I love their pork and eggroll vermicelli and their Spring rolls. Peanut sauce is so good. Much more convenient than having to go Downtown for Vietnamese food. Also their Chicken Vietamese hot and sour soup is good; a bit different as it has pineapple and okra in it but very tasty. Service has always been very good.

Food is alright, service and atmosphere is good. It is a close imitation of Asian cuisine, but definitely not the level of authentic Vietnamese food

Not really into phở or Vietnamese food, but I have got to say I love this place. They have more than just soup. However I had regular food and tried the soup too and loved both. Would def go again. Waiters and Waitress are very nice and patient.

This place used to be amazing — 5/5, but since then, the quality and quantity have decreased over the past 3 years, especially those with rice dishes. Just be aware, if you ask for any«extra» rice, or even sauce, they will charge you extra without telling you(the menu doesn’t mention that it is $ 3 for a tiny bowl of rice). Coincidentally, all the portions have gone down. I’m not a big fan of restaurants that will include an additional charge for plain rice on your bill. I feel like you should be able to request for more rice without having to wonder if the rice costs extra. Most placed I’ve been to would gladly serve extra rice, free of charge. You lost a long time customer who has taken friends and family here. Things here are not the same as it used to be in the past. I will state that the staff is generally pretty welcoming, and depending on your preference for atmosphere, it is pretty quiet and relaxing.

Good food. Service could have been better. I was by myself and had already ordered. A large group, more than 20, came in and had the same server. He never came back to my table. Had to get up to get more tea and to get my bill.

This place is really good. Very good soft spring rolls. The chicken spring roll is delicious with their restaurant made peanut sauce. The hostesses that I see are always polite. I am usually not a fan of charbroiled beef spring rolls, but I like them at this place. Definitely check it out :)

I don’t believe that this is the first visit I have ever made to this restaurant. That is a mistake on my part I can assure you not one I will repeat. I had the lunch menu Seafood Phở which was exceptional, flavorful and well proportioned. It is clearly more expensive than a Chinatown Phở however the rent is ‘Greenway/WestU’ hence if you cannot travel away from this area it is a ‘fairly’ priced Vietnamese restaurant with a significantly upscale ambience, excellent service, a full bar(which I cannot unfortunately attest to) and pace of dining more akin to ab upscale rather than an ‘economy’ location. Each lunch was accompanied by Goi Cuon(a fresh Vietnamese Spring Roll) which was I suspect recently prepared since the ‘Rice Tortilla’ was served a room temperature, but quite fresh and abundantly ‘stuffed’ with shrimp. The Phở noodles were equally excellent and fresh, a reasonable amount of seafood and the broth flavorful and not salty. The ‘parilla’ leaf, shoots and jalapeño were quite crisp and fresh.

The good things of this restaurant are good service, and nice decoration. The food is ok. One more thing that I want to complain that the amount of food doesn’t suit with the price at all. You don’t get what you pay. I m very dissapointed and I won’t come back.

Bad, just bad. I’ve been here on 3 occasions, so I’ve given this place a fair chance. The first time I had a good experience. The bun thit nuong was actually good. The waiter did his job and omitted bean sprouts, as requested. The second time I ordered duck with rice. The duck was old(there’s a difference between fresh and old – this was just bad). There was barely any duck meat, mostly bones. Ok, so I thought maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Read reviews about their tofu, so thought I’d give it a try. Third time I ordered the lemongrass tofu. There’s no lemongrass in it! The tofu is covered in brown sauce, no lemongrass. And the tofu just tasted old. I pointed it out to the waiter and asked perhaps they gave me the wrong dish. He said that’s the way it’s supposed to be. Sighh… People pay good money to eat at a restaurant for fresh quality food, not old. Never again!

This restaurant tries to jack up the price on simple dishes that would cost half as much ANYWHERE else then calls it Gourmet. No. Just no! They oversimplified Viet flavors to make it more palatable for American people who don’t know better. This infuriates me because it loses all authenticity and puts Viet food at a much lower standard. The only things good about this place is that it looks nice, lots of parking, fairly good happy hour drinks(for the price of this place), and pretty good service. Otherwise, don’t come for the food.

My mother’s WEDDINGRINGWASSTOLENDURINGDINNERFROMTHETABLEBYSTAFF and NEVERRECOVERED. Our family has frequented Vietopia(at some times weekly) for the past 15 years as they have great food so this is not a personal vendetta against management. This is unfortunately a devastatingly accurate customer experience. On Saturday, July 25th my mother and stepfather went to Vietopia and sat at one of the first tables near the window. My mom had been wearing a brace on her hand for weeks before but decided to take it off that evening. She wore her ring to dinner for the first time in weeks. Upon arriving, her hand again became inflamed so she took off her ring and set it on the table on top of her phone. An hour later, she and my stepfather stood up, walked 7 feet from the table and realized my mom didn’t have her ring but had her phone. Staff looked everywhere and it was nowhere to be found. There was a waiter and a busboy that served the table that evening. The ring was nearly 3 cts and if you’ve ever been to Vietopia you know there are never more than a few tables so not finding the ring is impossible given the hardwood floors and lack of fixtures. The management refused to question employees that evening. And my mother and stepfather(regrettably) left without filing a police report in hopes that someone would come forward if a reward without police involvement was offered.(A police report has since been filed) My mom returned the following day to offer a reward and management(older asian woman) would not allow her to speak with any employees or post a sign in the kitchen offering a reward. I personally know there was no sign posted because I forcibly entered the kitchen myself days later to hand out business cards with reward details to individual employees. My mother returned a second time to Vietopia that week to increase the reward amount and the owner’s son told her to «get out.» The ring has not been returned to date. Note to Unilocal: Integrity is at the core of the consumer experience so this review is relevant.

I got the chargrilled pork meal and it was okay. A tad bit expensive for what I got but it was good. I ordered take-out but wish I had gone with people. The dining and bar areas are beautiful. They also have a bar that has a wide selection. This would be an ideal happy hour place for after work. Would definitely come back to try to dine in.

The menu seems a bit repetitive but the food is solid. The service was okay, we had a group of six or eight on a Friday night so you’ll let a few things slide.

The service here is phenomenal! Vien and michael are great and actually, everyone there is super friendly and professional. The Bo Luc lac with tomato rice is the only thing I get here because it’s the best in the area. I’ve tried their phở once and probably won’t get it again because I’ve had much better and it was overpriced. They are prepared for lunch hour due to their location. Therefore they’re super fast with the orders, food, and bill. I always enjoy coming here :)

My chicken dish had severe freezer burn Definitely not worth the $ 20 I paid for it. Service was ok. Had to ask someone to get our waiter so we could get drink refills. This is out of character for this restaurant. I will visit again but it will be a very long time.

This place has a pretty fantastic happy hour. There are solid drink and food specials, and there’s plenty of space at the bar. They have a «thai basil» martini that I really like, though I don’t think it is on the happy hour specials. But it is worth paying full price for. And an added benefit: at Vietopia you can enjoy Christmas lights and décor all year around!(I actually think it is kind of charming that they pretty much always have garland and Christmas lights up.) I really like their flaming tofu and their seafood phở. Service is always really fast, which I appreciate, as I usually just come to have a very quick drink and a bite. It’s not the best phở in town by any means, but it is tasty. I prefer the seafood phở over the beef phở(as other reviewers have said, the texture on the beef is a little odd). My only complaint about this restaurant… their women’s restroom smells awful. I’ve been here several dozen times, and the first time I just figured I was«unlucky» with the moment I walked into the bathroom(like maybe there was some old lady in there who didn’t know how to «courtesy flush»). But no. It always smells like that. Oh, and when you’re grabbing a mint on the way out the door, grab a peppermint, not one of the green/white things. I know it looks like it would be a nice spearmint treat — but DONOTBEFOOLED. It isn’t. Instead, it is some sort of horrible lovechild of a lime and a can of condensed milk. It is probably the worst-tasting object I have ever put in my mouth — and that’s saying something. Yuck.

Everything I’ve had at Vietopia has been top notch, granted I’m not Vietnamese so I’m not sure why it doesn’t have at least 4 stars but this place is clean, maybe a little more pricey than others but the food is made with love and thats a big plus in my book. The flaming tofu is amazing, this was the 1st dish I’ve had here. The flavor of this is so savory yet a little sweet, I can’t describe it. I’ve also had the phở and it was a huge portion. More recently I got their house special fried rice and sub’d the shrimp for pork and it was one of the best I’ve had in Houston. All in all you can’t go wrong and the location is awesome, right next to a gelato place if you’re craving a cold dessert ;)
