Worst experience of my life. The largest problem with this doctor is her staff. The nurses don’t know anything about simple medications and the woman dealing with office files/​records will keep you on hold forever and forget who’s on the line. Additionally, they have to consult Dr. Tjoa for everything because they don’t know the answers so it takes up to a month for them to get back to you-​even for something as simple as a refill. Dr. Tjoa is way too busy to deal with anything on top of that. She answered her cell phone 2 times during my well woman exam. She was super rushed and didn’t wait for me to ask questions. She’s nice and smart but doesnt take many notes so when I called later to talk to a nurse about something, the nurse will have no idea, not just because there are no notes, but because they are plain stupid.

I have no idea how this doctor has the reviews she has. My sister has not had a good experience with this place at all. For one, she had an appointment scheduled and the office ended up being closed that day and no one called her to let her know and no one called the next day to reschedule either. What kind of office doesn’t give their patients some form of notice? She has seen this doctor multiple times and keeps getting the run around about what is wrong with her. She said the lady doesn’t seem like she cares at all about her patients. After her first appointment, the doctor said there could be some major issues and to go see another doctor before returning. My sister said she never called afterwards to check up on her or ask how the other appointment went or anything. I have also been here once before for a birth control prescription and will not return.

It’s weird to find a doctor on Unilocal,but that’s exactly what I did when I needed an ObGyn. I’m glad I did!
First off, Dr. Tjoa is not going to baby you. I’m a first time mom and felt that she was very straight forward during every step of my pregnancy. When I asked her questions about things I’d read online, she had no problem telling me when things were wrong or misrepresented. To me, this was comforting and I knew that if there was really a cause for concern or something important to consider, she’d let me know.
At around 32 weeks, I have to admit that this style was a little frustrating and I did leave her office crying a few times, but now I realize that I was the one expecting her to change and start babying me, which as I said, is not her style. Keep this in mind and it’ll save lots of tears!
The best part of Dr. Tjoa is during the hardest time — labor and delivery. I had to be induced so was in the hospital for a long time before I had my baby and she was really there for me. She got my labor room upgraded to the biggest room on the floor — without me asking or expecting it — and tried everything to keep me from having a c section — which she was successful at when nobody believed it would happen.
Everyone at St. Joseph was really great (not the Walmart of hospitals like another reviewer stated) but it might be because Dr. Tjoa has a reputation and nobody messes with her! After my baby was born, Dr. Tjoa again had my postpartum room upgraded free of charge to me and checked on me regularly.
Id definitely recommend Dr. Tjoa to any woman looking for a great doctor who’s there for you when you need it. She is straightforward and honest and will not bs you. And really, isn’t that all you need?

Dr. Tjoa is by far the best OBGYN in Houston, TX. She has been in business for years and delivers numerous of babies. I so happen to be one of those numerous of babies she delivered almost 25 years ago., my entire family including myself have been going to Dr. Tjoa for YEARS and YEARS. She’s hardest working OBGYN in this city,. she must be doing a great job for being in business for this long. Never a bad experience.

Dr. Tjoa is excellent and delivered my daughter the problem was the aftercare that I received. She is affiliated with St. Joseph’s but I will say DO NOT have your baby at St. Joseph’s Hospital. It is beyond ghetto and the aftercare you will receive is non-​existant. I am not from here and that hospital is the Walmart of healthcare and stick with anything else but St. Josephs. It is a shame that a great doctor is affiliated with such a horrible facility

I have been coming to Dr. Tjoa for more years than I care to mention. I started off seeing her as a young woman then had her deliver all 3 of my children. I live out in far Cypress, Texas but I drive to downtown to see her. She is conservative in her practice and won’t take risks with her patients. She is straight forward and honest. All 3 of my pregnancies were different including one where I was high risk. She doesn’t have any problem with high risk pregnancies and your health and the baby is her top priority. One of the best doctors I’ve ever been to, hands down.
