West End Bicycles

I have always heard how great this bike shop is and I stand by what I’ve heard. I purchased my bike there a year ago and finally have gotten up the courage to ride this year. The guys that work there know all things bike and are willing to work patiently with newbies like me. I’ll definitely be going back!

The coolest bicycle shop I’ve found in this area. Kinda hard to find, but it’s truly one of those hidden gems. Never mind all the nice new bikes on the showroom floor, I’m gazing at all the sweet bikes from the 80’s and 90’s hanging up in the rafters. Kooka, cooks bros, ringle, bontrager, syncros, white industries, and lots more to drool over.
People here are friendly and clearly enthusiasts. Prices seem right on track with everyone else in the industry.

When i walked in I was really surprised at the size and the number of bikes. It was really big! It looks small from the outside, but this place is cavernous when you walk in.
They have about a million bikes. I have never seen a bike shop with so many bikes. I saw a lot of Specialized bikes, and there were road bikes, mountain bikes, and everything in between.
The two times I have been i have need accessories. the first time I need a fender to keep water of my backside in the rain. They had a quick release one that was reasonably priced. I really like it. The second time I needed some gloves, and they had a huge selection at a lot of different price points. I got just what I needed.
The staff is friendly and helpful, but will leave you alone if you just want to browse. The place has a nice laid back feel to it, and you might see a friendly cat wondering around. This is where I will continue to go for all my bicycle needs.

Right now this is my favorite bike shop in Houston. It looks unassuming from the outside, but the inside is really big. It’s a really good medium between the huge shops like Bike Barn and the shops whose space is so small there is only enough room for a few bikes inside. Nothing wrong with either of those types of shops, I just prefer a shop like this.
They’re always knowledgeable too. I do most of my bike mechanical work at home on my bike repair stand and have most of the tools necessary. But when I come in for something, it’s usually a specific problem that is addressed by expensive tools I don’t own and would rarely use. For example, installing a PF bottom bracket or replacing a headset or cutting a fork down. All things that require specialized tools that aren’t worth the investment for me because I do those things so infrequently. West End addresses what I need immediately while I wait and I either don’t get charged or get charged something really reasonable.
I also always see people in West End team jerseys at crits/​cyclocross/​road races, so really like how they support local cycling teams. Seeing that is actually what put them on my radar and the reason I visited the shop in the first place. Glad I did!

This is a great place for those who want to buy good bicycle! I bought two bicycles for my children. There is definitely the best stuff in the market, I have asked them many questions and they can get me to answer for all.
My main purpose was to be secure bicycles, because it’s important for safety my children. It had been two months since I bought bicycles and all right with my children and bicycles.
I happy knew this place and nigh recommends everybody who wants to buy new toy.

I really can’t say enough good things about the owner of West End bikes, Dan! We just recently bought 2 bikes from them and have been really pleased! However, my husband had a «not so little issue» pop up with his previous bike but Dan handled it with complete honesty and integrity, and really mercy because at this point we were at his! lol My husband just can’t get over how generous and cool he was about the whole situation. I will recommend them to our friends and colleagues who love to ride for sure! The staff is very knowledgeable and our family loves supporting our local businesses’ and especially the one’s that go out of their way to help you! Thank you Dan and the staff at West End bikes!

My husband and I were in the market for the first bikes we have owned since we were children. We are novices, to say the least. We came to West End on a very busy Saturday afternoon. After walking the showroom and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the prices, a very knowledgeable and patient employee helped us find a pair of bikes that were previously used as rentals that were in our price range. He explained that these bikes are lighter and will last longer than the $ 150 bikes you can get at Wal-​Mart. He walked us through how to lock up our bikes and other pertinent bike knowledge. We never felt pressured or rushed. All in all, we got a great deal on our bikes and left feeling like we made a well-​informed, good decision. Oh, and they gave me a free beer to boot. They always treat me well and their prices are reasonable. Plus their mechanics are good at figuring out the best way to solve problems given the customer’s priority. This is my favorite part, because there is nothing worse than having a mechanic try to sell you a brand new bike part by part.

This place hast great service and very reasonable rates for bike rentals. I was really impressed with the staff.

This is a great bike shop for all levels. We have bought two bikes there (including a trade-​in) and the staff (Daniel) are amazing. If you want personalized service this is the place to go. Great selection and the repair services are good too.

These people are a throw back to the way bike shops used to be. The building has been there forever, which plays into the old school feel. The staff are attentive and very knowledgeable. I’ll be dropping off the two bikes we bought for their 30 day tune up.
I will be a long time customer with West End as long as they keep doing what they’re doing. It’s worth the drive from anywhere in the metroplex!

Best bike shop in Houston. They have a great selection, helpful staff, and good prices. Their mechanics are hands down the most knowledgeable I’ve come across and unlike most other shops, won’t pressure you to buy something you don’t need.
I’ve bought several bikes from them and the service has been impeccable every time and their prices are better than anyone else in town. I’ve been to Bike Barn, Bicycle Sports and Fitness, etc. but I will keep coming back to this place every time.
It can be hard to find a good local bike store in Houston, but look no further than West End.

I originally bought my bike at another bike shop. When I had some shifting issues with it I took it in to them to have it fixed. They claimed to have fixed it, which they didn’t. I took it to West End where Nathan and Trendon set me right up. No questions asked. Best group of guys in my opinion when it comes to customer service. My bike rides and shifts perfect now. I don’t mind driving 30 minutes out of my way to a legitimate shop. Wish I could give this shop more than 5 stars.

Such a great place! I’ve been to this shop twice, on both occasions I was frustrated because of surprise bike issues. The staff is very attentive and kind. They don’t pressure you into buying anything you don’t need and very thorough in their work!

I’ve been to every bike shop in Houston and all over the United states thanks to my job, and west end is like my second home. At first I didn’t want to go to the shop because I was under the influence of it just being a mountain bike shop. I was so wrong they have anything any cyclist could need with a super great staff of mechanics. They also keep me from spending money on stuff I don’t need. Blane and Trendon both have kept me from spending money I shouldn’t spend on trivial parts. Give this shop a try and take the time to meet the staff and you won’t be disappointed

Cute shop. Lots of bikes. No bike racks out front to park your bike when you ride up.? Dragged my bike in the store and put it by the front door. Walked around for 10 – 15 minutes and not one person acknowledged me. I went in looking for help with a basket or a rack for my bike. Thought I’d spend $ 50 – 100. But when no one helped me I just left. I found the $ 46.99 basket I was looking at at West End for $ 30 cheaper down the road. Hard to shop small when you get no service. Too bad b/​c this is only a couple blocks from our new house after relocating from Atlanta.

Trendon continually makes up for any failure any other staff member may have had. If you go here, see Trendon… He knows his stuff, is polite, and very responsive.

Knowlegeable cycle folks but very arrogant… not everyone can dedicate their life to a two-​wheeled non-​motorized vehicle. How about helping without the attitude?
Watch your wallet in their shop. I had a tube pop on me the other day and also decided to buy a new tire for $ 55 (which seemed high but I don’t really know). The guy said «we’d be glad to change the tube and tire for you». I said «great». When it came time to ring me up for tube and tire they also charged me $ 7 to change things out. Fine, charge me $ 7 but how about mentioning that you have a surcharge instead of selling it like you don’t.
Conversely I recently went to NTB to have a tire repaired as two nails punctured it. They patched both holes and put me spare back under the bed for $ 0.
I’m in the market for a decent mountain bike, no chance I’m giving West End my money even though I live a few blocks away.

I wish it was possible to give less than one star. I totally missed what the other reviews were talking about. The service was terrible; beyond terrible. The staff seemed more interested in talking to each other than even caring about helping me find a bike or even making eye. I kept trying to get someones attention, but they were preoccupied. The place was not that busy, but having a conversation seemed much more important. Ended up at Bike Barn with great service and what seemed like better prices.
AVOID.

My husband and I went in to pick out road bikes for the MS150. For all purposes, we went in to buy not just one, but two bikes. Unfortunately, this task was not accomplished due to the preoccupation of the store’s staff talking with each other instead. The staff generally ignored, not only us, but others in the store. There was enough people working, just not actually helping customers. We were there for about 20 minutes trying to ask a few questions, but to no avail. We ended up just leaving. I appreciate the lack of a hard sell, but apathy is even worse.
Maybe we seemed like too much of novices to even deal with.
