Great group of guys doing Texas Whiskey like no other. My favorite strait is the Texas Peach Whiskey. It’s not sweet at all but very smooth with a hint of peach and great on the rocks. As far as mixed drink I LOVETHEHTOWNMULE with the sassafras gin. Take the tour on Saturday and try them all.

The Whitmeyers are very friendly and welcoming. The sassafras gin is a gin for the non-gin drinker. Dress for the weather and fun.

Whitmeyer’s now makes Moonshine, and this girl is a fan! We recently stopped in for the«tour» and tasting of the distillery and had a great time. The distillery is a small warehouse space with no A/C, so if you go on a warmer day you will feel it. Both Whitmeyer brothers were present for the tour and were also very friendly and answered all of our goofy questions. The tasting is cheap, and if you want a pint glass to take home it is only $ 5. An additional $ 5 to fill the pint glass with the drink of your choice off the menu, and you get a koozie just for doing the tasting. They make the Moonshine, a Sasparilla Gin, a peach whiskey, and a vodka that are all very tasty. The Moonshine with Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix is actually one of the best and most simple Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever had! You can find all of their items in Spec’s for a reasonable price!

What an awesome little distillery on the North side of Houston. If you don’t know exactly where it’s located you will miss it and have missed it I’m sure. So I have tried many Texas/Houston/Local distilleries and can honestly say that Whitmeyers is the best I have««sipped». I attended a private tasting a week ago and sampled a range of their items like their Vodka, Whiskey and Gin. All very good! The best was the peach whiskey that would be so good with a little peach schnapps or a splash of peach soda over ice! Their cute little facility can be rented for events at $ 500 for 3 hours. You can bring your own food and they will serve from their in-house bar. You can have your own music and guests will be treated to whiskey tours. Go visit the gang and tell Travis I said hello!

Owners are really friendly. The warehouse is a bit hidden since we didn’t see any signs out in the front. So make sure you keep driving towards the back. I didn’t really like how the tour didn’t start on time. We rushed through lunch to make sure we got there exactly at 2pm but the tour didn’t actually start till 2:30pm since they were waiting on others to arrive. We got to sample about 6 different items. I liked the peach whiskey the best which is also their best seller.

The Whitmeyer Distilling tour is fantastic. We were created in the lot by one of the owners who quickly introduced himself and welcomed us. The weather was perfect and we walked in to the warehouse and were greeted by the other two owners. About a dozen people were waiting to take the tour. We ordered drinks at the bar — a peach whiskey sour and a Houston Mule. Both delicious. Tour began with a bit of background on the distillery and samples of six different spirits. Delicious and fun. Bought a couple of bottles of the moonshine. Will be back.

Wow, so who knew that just minutes away from Willowbrook Mall, hidden in the back of a warehouse park existed a whiskey distillery! Upon entering the warehouse we were immediately greeted by Chris and Travis Whitmeyer, two of the friendliest guys you will ever meet. We were given a quick run down of how things work and encouraged to have one of their specialty cocktails while we wait for other tour takers to arrive. I opted for a Peach Whiskey Sour and it was delicious! When more people finally arrived, we gathered at the bar for a tasting. We were lucky to sample two new products that will be out this December, a gin and a barreled moonshine. We started with the gin. It had a nice flavor and the juniper berries really came through. The moonshine was pretty strong. They serve it in a margarita and consider it along the lines of a blanco tequila. The barreled moonshine had a completely different taste even though it was the same liquor. The peach whiskey and the single barrel bourbon were also very nice. The standout for me was the Space City Vodka. I’m usually not a fan of corn distilled vodka, but this stuff was clean and crisp. It’s also a great value at $ 18. Don’t be fooled by the price! I’m somewhat of a vodka snob and I could drink this stuff all day! After tasting the products, we went on a small tour of the warehouse. The process was explained to us and questions were answered. The whole area is not very big and it’s not really fancy, but they are putting out some excellent products. You can tell they have great pride in what they do. The space is also available to rent for private events. Their spirits can be purchased at the distillery or your local Spec’s.

I went on a tour of the distillery with my mom and brother after we got a good deal on Livingsocial and we had a great time. At the beginning of the tour they do a tasting of their various whiskeys and vodka. I’m not a whiskey drinker, but they have a great peach flavored one that I actually considered purchasing. After that they give a quick tour of their facility and you can ask them questions. We asked a lot of questions and found out the owners are actually veterans of the armed forces and started this business once their tours of duty were over. They all seemed like really nice guys and were very knowledgable about the whole brewing process. I think this a great place to go with a group of friends on a saturday afternoon. There was actually a bachelor party there when we went and they had a great time. *Also, despite the negative comment written by Steven G. I had no problems contacting one of the owners when I had questions about touring the distllery.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this place, it was a great experience for everyone and well worth the money. First off, to find it, you need to turn into the building lot as shown on the map location, but follow the right-side driveway around to the back. The buildings are shaped like a capital E, and Whitmeyers is at the very back. The building is simply a warehouse that hosts the distillery, it’s not all that special looking, but the drinks are quite good. They only have 4 different spirits right now, the Space City Vodka, Peach Whiskey, Bourbon and a moonshine. While that isn’t a whole lot to taste on its own, they make the most of it by offering mixed drinks made from with their alcohol. I’m not a big fan of Bloody Marys, but my friends said that those were the best they had ever had in Houston. I enjoyed a Galveston Island Tea, which was pretty damn good. For $ 10, it’s definitely worth the trip. If you can go on a Saturday with some good college football games, it’s even better to enjoy the sports bar style atmosphere. Give it a try, if nothing else you can say you visited the first distillery in Houston since Prohibition!

The products are great, but the unfortunate truth is they do not care about their customers. I’ve attempted to contact this company on multiple occasions via email and telephone to visit the distillery and purchase a number of whiskey barrels as advertised on their site. I’ve even made it a point to call during business hours. None of my requests have been addressed by anyone in this company so one can only assume that they really do not care about their customers. It’s too bad the whiskey is so good, as it makes it that much more difficult to stop supporting this company.
