This is always a great event, especially if you’re a dog lover. There’s so much to see(and buy) here that you’ll be busy all day. AKC/Breed Events: Seeing so many different dog breeds in one location is a treat. Newly-accepted AKC breeds can also be seen, and some of these dogs are so interesting! The dogs that are competing are absolutely gorgeous. Watch them in the ring. Stunning. Various Events: Frisbee, flyball, creative grooming, agility. .. the list goes on an on. Not all dogs competing in these events are purebred dogs, either. Watching these dogs compete with their owners/handlers is amazing. You know they’ve worked hard to get here, and what’s really evident in some of these events is that the dogs are having an absolute blast! Vendors: You can find anything and everything connected with anything and everything relating to a canine(and even a feline!) here. Clippers, tags, collars, clothing, specialty foods, crates, training facilities. .. again, there’s merchandise and services available here that appeal to every animal lover out there. Rescue groups: Interested in adopting a furry friend? So many rescue organizations and facilities are represented here. Many of them bring dogs that are available for adoption or have been adopted so that you can get to know the breed. You’ll learn about the adoption process with their group and who they’ve got available that will be a perfect match for you. This is a great place to ask questions, see your potential new best friend and get the ball rolling, so to speak. Many of the county and city agencies are here, too. Don’t pass them up. Student art exhibit: A must-see. An absolutely magnificent display of the creative talent sitting in our classrooms. Every year that I see the different artwork on display, no matter what level the student may be, I am awestruck at the abilities and artistic brilliance they possess. I come to the dog show every year to assist with a non-profit rescue group as a volunteer. I’ll walk around different parts of the arena and see different events and exhibits throughout the day(with or without one of our rescue dogs in tow). We always have a great time and meet so many special people and other special dogs. My one reason for deducting a star for this event, though, is due to NRG’s contract with Aramark for the exclusive distribution of food and beverages at this event. I completely get that food and drinks at these venues is more expensive. But $ 5.25 for a 16.9 ounce bottle of Diet Coke? That’s extortion(in my opinion) and utterly unjustified.

This show was absolutely amazing. My husband and I still say it’s the best event we’ve been to since moving to Houston. We saw all different breeds of dogs. We watched dancing dogs. We absolutely had an amazing time!

if you’re a dog lover, you will love this dog show. there is a purebred dog show, an agility show for other dogs, and booths all around selling food, treats, trinkets, pet accessories, and clothing for you and fido. you can even bring your dog here to mingle with other dogs(be sure not to disturb the dogs that are practicing/performing), test out treats, and watch the other dogs perform. my dogs were loving walking around, meeting other dogs, and finding and eating chunks of popcorn or other ppl food off the floor. it’s great for children too. we brought 2 small children, so the day was quite hectic, but very exciting! there were so many neat things for sale, and so many beautiful dogs and adorable puppies everywhere. if your dog loves the dog park, then this is dog paradise!
