mommy said, «don’t judge a book by it’s cover,» and this is a classic example. man, this place is a mess. dusty, computers stacked everywhere – the store looks like an unorganized computers-only pawn shop. i almost walked out right after walking in, but out of desperation, decided to give it a try. i needed a new battery for my HP laptop, which i’d been told by a tech at GeekSquad was going to be nearly impossible to find. the manager at XM thought he had one in stock(with all that stuff everywhere, i would not have been surprised if he had it, but just couldn’t get his hands on it!), but ended up ordering one for me and said i could pick it up Wednesday or maybe thursday at the latest. i walked out $ 75 lighter and promptly forgot all about the battery. the manager called me on Thursday to say the battery was still not there, and wasn’t showing for delivery on Friday either: he was concerned. What? customer service without me even having to ASK? ! whaah ?? i thanked him and said not to worry about it, that i appreciated his attention to it and to just give me a call when it got there. Saturday, my phone rang again: the manager told me he was very disappointed with HP in this matter and felt that he was getting the run around from them. he suggested i come in and get my money back – he also offered to help me find a battery online and i could order it directly. WHAT? ! money back? help me order directly? did i slip into the twilight zone(the place probably has some dust from the sixties in there…) in the end, i did not get my battery but i did get a lesson in giving a place a chance, even when it looks like a dump. NOSTARS, if it was available — it would have been it. They never call to tell you the status of your computer, the store is extremely messy and disorganized. it is amazing they get anything done. It is ALL men, and when I told the owner he needed a women in there to clean up and organize and make phone calls to customers, etc. he laughed at me! I was giving him serious business advice, it would help. Really. Just visit the place and tell me otherwise. LOL! Not only is the store in horrible condition, their services are questionable as well. I took my MacBook Pro to get the screen fixed and they put the completely WRONG screws back in, and put connectors back in the wrong place, etc. HORRIBLE. I could not even take it to the Mac Store for an upgrade!!! They said it would cost about 1,500 to repair the damage that was caused by whoever put it back together. So now, it went back to XM to put everything back together with the right screws, connectors, etc. and it has been over A YEAR and I still dont have my computer! Every time I call, they say. Oh next week, oh, two weeks… My gosh! So that it(over) TWO years I have been dealing with this crap! I think all the reviews from other sites(Google) are from people who work at XM, they are definitely NOT5 stars.
