The owner is amazing and the movie selection is spot on. I love independent, small local movie theaters and art house theaters. This place is great and so is their popcorn!

I LOVE the Historic Theater of Howell! For as long as I can remember I had this little dream of renovating an old theater and showing classic films, touching my community and spotlighting local artists. This will always stay a dream, but I was thrilled when I watched this very thing happen to the local downtown theater here in Howell. It has been a lovely thing to see. I love the movie choices! We recently held my daughter’s sweet 16 party there and it was very intimate and special. Tyler went above and beyond to ensure the day was all it could be. We were so touched my his kind and thoughtful nature. He and his gem of a theater are valuable to our Howell community.

The Howell Theater is a great time & a far more unique experience than MJR could hope to provide. We plan to go back on the regular.

I love the old theatre but for the screen that’s about as big as my house and the sound system is not loud enough to hear you would think that $ 8 would be a crazy price. I can go to Brighton or Novi and get 20 times the quality. If your not going to update those things you can’t charge $ 8, try $ 5 and I would come back.

Love this hometown theatre! Small but quaint with good picture and sound. Very reasonable prices as well.

Since the last reviewer wrote about this place, it has closed down and once again reopened. However, this time, instead of going head to head with the large cine-plexes showing the same big name spectacles, they have turned it into something truly special. Now they show past favorites as well as newer independent films that may not have made it to the larger theaters. Be sure to check out their website for current showings as they only run for about a week at a time. The historic building has been renovated, though still retains it’s classic charm. This place is an old-school haven for movie lovers who don’t require the latest 3D effects, enormous screens or stadium seating. Do yourself a favor and take a break from the overcrowded movieplex and check this place out. One last note, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the popcorn was incredible. It’s just like regular movie popcorn, but for some reason I just could not stop eating it. The owner also handed us a bag for the road on our way out of the movie Saturday night. How nice!

It had been a while since I’ve been back here, and after last nights Saturday visit(always a busy movie day) I’m glad that it’s here to serve our town. Not one of the big Mega-plex type theaters, but one of the sweet downtown gems. Plays good & current shows, that most family members will enjoy or for an easy date night. Showings are regularly posted and at all the most popular times. The place even in the middle of snowy winter was spotlessly clean and the staff very quick and timely, friendly and helpful. And an affordable outing day or night here won’t break the bank.
