The Candy Bar

Know why The Candy Bar gets 5 stars? Because it make me happy!
This shop is small, but packs in a lot of sweet treats. Walk in and be greeted with lines of glass jars filled with candy ranging mostly in price from 5 cents to $ 1. It’s perfect for my little gals… Or, me, who likes to have a *little* sweetness, but tries not to overindulge too much!
I’ve taken my toddler here a few times as a reward for potty training and she goes crazy. They have a little mini grocery cart she can use and she picks out a few suckers, a few hershey kisses and a few tootsie rolls (all 5 cents) and she is happy as a clam. I almost always get out spending around $ 1! I love it because it gives her a small treat and she loves the atmosphere and picking things out on her own. Reminds me of my childhood because visiting the old D&C and bulk food store in town for penny candy was my favorite thing ever!
They also have some bulk chocolate candies and jelly beans. In fact, I’m already looking forward to getting a huge bag on non-​perils for my mom for Christmas. In addition to candy, they also sell ice cream, floats and fun ice cream sundaes — and they are very reasonably priced.
Please give this store your patronage. Prices are reasonable, I’ve always had very friendly service and it’s a CANDY STORE, therefore it is definitely one of the happiest places in Howell, right?! :)

They do have some cheap candy but nothing you couldn’t buy at Meijer or Walmart (probably cheaper) too. I was disappointed that anything besides these generic candies (kisses, laffy taffy, peppermints, etc.) was fairly high priced… As in $ 1+ for a small caramel. I purchased an 4 oz bag of dark chocolate almond toffee… Set me back $ 8!
I also had hoped they would have homemade candies in store… No such luck… They don’t appear to make any candy on site. And 99% of the candy is not homemade… Almost all name brand stuff.
And I hate to say it, but the people have never been welcoming or friendly when I came in… Not rude, just standoffish. Usually waiting by the register for me to check out ASAP.
I’ve visited about 3 or so times, if I go back and things have changed (fingers crossed) I’ll update.
