This preserve was saved from development in the last few years and offers some cool hiking through various habitats and two lake/pond type waterbodies where phosphate exploration took place. It’s in a pretty remote area and wouldn’t recommend going alone. Hudson is kind of a sketchy area. I was lucky enough to attend a plant talk/hike through the area and there are lots of fascinating plant and animal species. It backs onto a development. There’s some trash. Swimming is prohibited, but I think it would be fun. I think it’s a neat area to explore. The planned Sunwest Mine develpoment is nearby and also worth exploring. The owners want to develop the area, a former phosphate mine with blue lakes where the pits were, but dredging to give the planned homes Gulf access has been blocked so far.
