One week prior to putting a deposit while awaiting a rough estimate we were told that the date would be held as a courtesy… multiple Saturday Oct 2015 dates still present– no worries. Went to put a deposit one week later– it was NOT held«as a courtesy» as we had been told it would be. I am irate and will be bringing my business elsewhere as li feel I should, I appreciate the helpfulness & friendliness of the staff, but your miscommunication ruined my plans. We would hv put a deposit down… but instead you’ve lost our business.

This club is a classic New England country club. I was fortunate to be there right at the onset of the Fall this year so that leaves were turning and it was stunning. The course was covered by reds, browns, and floating orange with a slightly mist in the air. The club house itself was quintessential colonial New England architecture with old style service. This place is gorgeous all together, although once winter sets in, it will be white but extremely cold.

«Melancholia.» «The Legend of Bagger Vance.» «Last Year at Marienbad.» Every other book by Nicholas Sparks. I’ve never been on a Savannah, Georgia aristocratic estate before, no less one like it found outside of Boston. I’m simply West Coast folk. Beyond all expectations, «Charter Oak Country Club» was the opulent experience that surpassed the visions of movies, romantic books and poetry by E.E. Cummings. I was here for a wedding, and it was the most magnificent one I’ve ever attended. Guest count was somewhere around 200. I never learned how much the price tag was. I simply indulged in the best cocktail hour ever, had pictures of my wife and me taken on the balcony, helped myself to the bar, drank ice water, drank more at the bar, ate something like 4-courses… and danced the night away — in-between my forays to the dessert cart. This was bigger, bolder and more beautiful than the movies of my life. And it nearly busted my tummy. #bustabutton and #movielove

This review is based only on the actual club part of this location — not the golf or the memberships. The grounds here are absolutely beautiful and include a gorgeous sprawling golf course — that looked gorgeous even in February. You drive up a long winding driveway that looks like it might never end — and frankly if it never ended you could keep driving and enjoying the scenery. When you get to the top you face the club which has a beautiful brick exterior. When you walk in to the lobby it is beautiful. The stairs that lead up to the main event room are perfect for wedding party pictures. The fireplace/cocktail room is absolutely gorgeous! The whole left wall is all window/french doors that lead out to a patio that overlooks the grounds. There is a really nice fireplace in-between and in the front of the room is a very large bar. The room can hold a large amount of people standing but cannot hold many for a seated event. The grand ballroom is very large and I think can hold about 300 people. The room is very nice and also has a wall of windows/doors that lead out to another large roof patio. I would recommend having an event here — but the smallest group they can host is 110…
