Brought my son’s laptop computer in to have the fan replaced, they claimed that when they opened it up and cleaned it, it was so full of dust that it wouldn’t even power up. «Needs a new motherboard or processor» was the diagnosis. They charged me $ 48 dollars for this piece of insight, but didn’t bother preparing an estimate for repairs because they didn’t think it would be «worth fixing it when you could buy another one for $ 300 or $ 700». When I asked what they had, they said they really work with business computers not personal ones. When I took it for a second opinion elsewhere, it fired right up and they promptly put the new fan in as requested. What kind of hillbilly tech shop is this anyway?
