I haven’t been to Hetzer’s since the early 80’s when, as a bike-obsessed kid of about 11 or 12, I’d ride all the way from the southern edge of Nashua to hit the practice track next to the shop and to learn from the mechanics. They opened me up to BMX racing, how a bike should work and some of the best times in my childhood. I spent a few years worth of birthdays and a lot of paper route money building out the chrome Gary Littlejohn frame I got there — and it about killed me when it was stolen. My memory of Hetzer’s is that people there were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about what they did, and treated people well. I doubt that’s changed.
