Great selection an the owner is great to deal with. Anytime I am in Hudson, I try to stop by.

A classic antiquarian bookstore! A charming setting with an elegant display window, exposed brick, Barrister bookcases, and long, well organized aisles of books. Their cooking, art, design, and photography sections are particularly well stocked. You will find everything from a $ 2 paperback to fine, leather bound, 1st editions. It is as easy to spend a few hours happily lost perusing the stacks as it is to pop in for that perfect last-minute gift.

Very rude owner; we were baffled by her(and another person there) demeanor. Either there’s something else going on in their lives that is making them act this way or they have a weird contempt for customers. Prices are in the stratosphere for the most part.

One of two bookstores on Hudson’s main drag, Hudson City Books is an interesting mix of high-end collector’s tomes — rare books and first editions — and more accessible(and affordable) used books. Both are selected with the same fine eye and mind. There’s an excellent section dedicated to little magazines and literary journals, and in addition to some 19th century collections of Munsey’s Magazine, I found an ‘80s edition of TriQuarterly — Northwestern University’s literary journal — devoted to science fiction. Quite a find! The local/New York section is surprisingly sparse and somewhat disappointing, but there’s enough in here to keep you occupied for several hours… even if you can’t afford to pick up much. An impressive used bookstore, but more for the collector set than the active reader.
