Unfortunately, there are no words to describe the professionalism Roy provides with his highly trained staff. Steve the Operations Manager who handles customer services has the knowledge and skills needed for customer satisfaction. This auto repair shop, despite what they tell you, does NOT stand behind their work if it is going to cost them money. When you walk into the office area there is a large poster on the front of the counter alerting customers that when a timing belt is replaced, it is essential to replace other«critical components» as well. When this shop replaced my timing belt there was no poster. They replaced only the timing belt and water pump and did not replace, or even make me aware, that other«critical components» should also be replaced. My timing belt was being replaced at exactly the service interval required by the manufacturer(VW). Because this shop failed to replace one of the«critical components» that should have been replaced, that component seized 35K miles later,(timing belt replacement interval specified by VW is between 75,000 –90,000 miles) causing the belt to break, resulting in catastrophic engine damage. Roy, the owner, initially said that if the belt broke as a result of anything they had done, he would fix the car. Well, once it was discovered that the belt broke because one of the«critical components» was NOT replaced, he balked at fixing the car. He claimed that the breaking of the belt was not due to failure of any components that they installed. That is my contention! The failure of the belt was due to components they SHOULD have installed at the time the belt was replaced. Every mechanic and shop I have spoken to after this happened have all unanimously said that part of any timing belt change includes other critical components as part of the change, this is why they sell timing belt kits. The kits included all components that are part of the belt change. We have 4 vehicles that were serviced at Roy’s Auto, but they will no longer be serviced there. I will be taking my business back to Pole’s Automotive. I changed from Pole’s to Roy’s mainly because Roy’s was more convenient when dropping off my vehicles, it is closer to my home. Pole’s is an outstanding repair shop and I highly recommend them. Paul M Hudson, NH
