Definitely the hot spot in hudson ma. My brother in law from london visited and we had their flat bread version of pizza. My sister tells me that every time they order pizza now, he says its good, but its no rail trail pizza. They have true mixologists behind the bar who take real pride in the beverages they serve. Good spot for a double date. Plan ahead for a long wait. They have a pretty good system in place to call you after you are added to the wait list. We usually walk down to the medusa microbrew for a beer and you get a call in 30 or 45 minutes to come back because a table is almost ready.

The reason I give this one star is the policy on waiting for the rest of your party to show before being seated. I went on a Wednesday evening, party of 3, tons of tables open like I could be ringing up a bar tab for the waiter but instead I say and waited for the rest of my party.

Great place to go with friends and share a pizza! Food is delicious and fresh. Recommend going earlier on Fridays or Saturdays due to how crowded it gets! Pizza is amazing and you won’t regret a trip to this place.

Alright after another 15 visits, I am back at 5 stars for Rail Trail 1 mediocre experience and 20 awesome ones = 5 stars. The constantly rotating menu of beers and food, great service, awesome décor, and local foods is reason enough to come here anytime you are in the neighborhood. The flat breads are always great and the rotating main plates are amazing, I recommend anything with pork belly if it is on the menu, and if you are lucky enough to come across the fried chicken and waffles do your life a favor and try it out. Seriously if you don’t come you are missing out.

The food is always excellent. Beer selection is always a rotation of fine craft beers from all over the country usually a lot of brews from New England. Waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating. The only problem is the bartenders. Most of them are very attentive and professional especially the cool ones with the beards and the ladies. Unfortunately not all of them can meet up to this standard especially the one in particular who is rude to the waitresses, waiters and customers. For this bartender he needs to get a grip on life and do his job. After all you are in the customer service business so put your damn phone down and serve your customers and don’t pass blame on to your busy waitresses who are doing the hard work for you.

Rail trail is truly home away from home for us. We previously lived less than 10 minutes away and it is now like 25, but if we don’t get over there every 2 weeks or so we feel incomplete(sappy, I know, but trying to make a point). We’ve gotten a bit strategic because they are always so busy. We try to go at off times, or maybe when the kids are elsewhere because they don’t handle the wait as well as we do. The tap list rotates regularly and always have something I haven’t had. They aren’t IPA heavy because they vary the menu so much. Certainly can be hit or miss but great to be able to try so many different beers. The waitstaff will tell you what they know about the beers and give you a sample if you just aren’t sure. What goes better with beer than pizza and wings? My favorite appetizer are the buffalo IPA wings. Caroline and Grace love the hot tots. Once the apps are out of the way, it is on to the wood fired pizza. We think they should name the pepperoni and kalamata olive pizza after us(you’re probably thinking, «why not? Nobody else would eat that…») as we get it every time we go in. Brogan tends to go more traditional with cheese or pepperoni and Grace usually does the buffalo chicken. Friendly staff that come over and chat with the regulars even when you aren’t in their section help put rail trail over the top. Their sister stop across the street, the microcreamery, tops a night off well(probably skip the appetizers if you are heading over there). One tip to manage the wait — call in your pizza order or get it to go, and head a couple of clicks east on Main Street to medusa brewing and eat there. Reduces the beer list but helps support another local business. I don’t think I give 5 stars away all the time, but when we start talking about where to go to dinner, I’m always silently hoping she picks Rail Trail.

Although Hudson isn’t around the corner for us, we decided to give the Rail Trail a try because of Unilocal reviews and the menu selections. When you walk in you go by the prep station and the wood fired oven. The entire space is well thought out and you feel immersed in the Flat-bread theme. We ordered the Poutine special, potatoes, aoli, chorizo and cheese. It was very very good. My wife ordered the small Melizana, eggplant, mozzarella, ricotta and more. She thoroughly enjoyed it. I couldn’t make up my mind between the Benedict and the Philly. So as the waitress suggested I got a half and half. Wow, best pizza ever. You must try the Benedict, Hollandaise, ham with a sunny side up egg. The service was the best. Our waitress was prompt, very friendly and on her game. This was well worth the drive and we will most certainly be back

i was here in 2014 for a business lunch, and then again yesterday with my boyfriend. i don’t usually do 3 star reviews, as i typically either love or really dislike a place, but, with rail trail– it really is the middle of the road. the beer list is interesting, but incredibly overpriced. when the least expensive alcoholic beverage on a drink menu is wine, it’s a little surprising, and a little out of wack. our server was very attentive, so i was happy there. the food all sounds really good, but doesn’t necessarily deliver. we had the fried pickles and poutine to start. now, i love fried pickles, and i’ve had them pretty much everywhere that offers them. these are some of my least favorite. though they were nicely thin-cut, they were greasy. i mean, like, shining proudly with grease. the ranch that comes with them for dipping is a bit odd, and tastes more like it’s halfway to tartar sauce, than it is ranch. the poutine is also odd, as the fries that are served with burgers, sandwiches, etc. are a medium cut, and look golden-brown, crisp, and delicious. the potatoes that make up the base of the poutine are just that– potatoes. not french fries, at all. these are so thick cut that it would be impossible to crisp them. therefore, the gravy(which was fine) simply just drowns them, and texturally there is no contrast between any of the ingredients on the plate. there was hardly any cheese, and the bits of turkey were a) few and far between and b) haphazardly plated. i would avoid this dish 100%. not worth the cost or the calories, at all. i’m obsessed with soup, and upon learning that their SoD was cream of broccoli, i knew i had to try it. this was excellent. as i saw it leave the kitchen(right next to our table, literally) the chef sprinkled something on it– chopped sage. i’m not a huge sage lover, and it’s not a typical cream of broccoli soup ingredient, but i thought it was spot-on. it added a wonderful earthy, herbacious note to the soup, without being overwhelming. this was my favorite item of the day. it was served with some wonderfully oven-charred bread which was very much appreciated. for lunch, my boyfriend got the buffalo shrimp tacos. he ate them up, but was surprised at the lack of heat in the buffalo sauce(and he’s not a hothead). i got the pulled pork sandwich, and substituted the house-made burger bun for the egg bread it’s supposed to come on. the portion of pork was generous, and the flavor good, though a bit non-traditional. i suspect there is some chinese five spice, or star anise in the sauce(delicious, just not traditional). it comes topped with a pumpkin slaw that is good, but doesn’t provide the necessary acidic counterpoint to the richness of the pork. the homemade bun was honestly really good, and had just the right body and firm texture to stand up well to its contents. we both got mixed greens with our sandwiches, and i have to say– they were plentiful and beautifully dressed(just the right amount). i like the rail trail, and i think they have a good kitchen, and lots of good ideas. i’m just not so sure that all of the food is particularly good. i honestly think it depends on what you order, if it lives up to expectations. we will definitely be back when in the area, but we will order differently.

We go here regularly to eat or just a drink. Great microbrew selections, and everything on the menu tastes homemade and fresh. Burgers, pizza, you name it. Staff is friendly, and it’s across from a great little ice cream shop. The bar area has a good talkative atmosphere, and the tables are family friendly.

After being seated, we immediately ordered food(we had decided while we were waiting for a table). We waited and waited and waited. We watched the 3 tables around us get seated AND served dinner before our 2 flatbreads showed up(one of the tables was a table of 8 who got apps and pizza!!!). We waited for an hour for our meal(not what an 8 month pregnant woman wants). There was no apology from the server, no visit from the manager, no reduction on the bill. Only a snide comment that the pizza went away quickly after it arrived. It took all of my being to not snap at her and say it was because we waited for over an hour for our dinner! While the pizza was good, it was NOT wait an hour and get shitty service good. Sadly we will not be returning.

Reading the other reviews, it looks like I am going to be «that guy». It’s a rainy weeknight before Christmas. Looking for a good pint and grub. Everyone says this place is amazing. The front of the place is packed, and we are led around to the room in the back, by the restrooms. It’s quieter, but also lit with bright-white LEDs and no nearly as intimate and social as the front room. Our fault for coming later than we should have, but the tables wobble so badly that the drinks fall over. So we swap to another table. And then another table. The hostesses are super nice and attentive and help us stabilize our table(we are unsuccessful so we wobble through our meal). Beer menu is long and has absolutely nothing on it that I have ever heard of. This is good b/c I am by no means an expert on good beer, but potentially catastrophic b/c I now have to rely on the waitstaff for decent recommendations. They absolutely came through and recommended a couple of pints that were exactly what we wanted, even though we didn’t know it at the time we ordered them. They suggested samplers and brought them over quickly. Their recommendations were right on. +1 for the ladies who were working tonight. Fast forward to food. Spoiler alert: we did not order the flatbread. I ordered shrimp and she ordered ribs. Advice: skip both of these dishes. All of our friends have lambasted us for ordering anything but the flatbread — apparently, it is epic — unfortunately, what we ordered was not. So, to recap: 1. Service 5⁄5 — super attentive, very good recommendations and just really pleasant to deal with. Our wait staff was great. Best part of our experience here. 2. Ambiance — 3⁄5 — Maybe our fault, we came late, no room in the front, but the back room is just really cold, harshly lit and next to the bathrooms. Would have been 4 or 5 if we were in front somewhere. Hey, it’s the backroom, right? 3. Beer — 5⁄5 Good stuff. ‘Nuff said. 4. Food — 2? — I struggle to give it it 2. But then again, we didn’t order their signature flatbread so we are going to give it another go. 5. Location — 4⁄5 Nice walk able street-front, decent parking on the street, nice place to be in the evening. Love the pedestrian nature of the location. I’d definitely stop here for a pint or two, and we will again to see if their flatbread is as good as all of our friends say it is(and we wish they would stop telling us on Facebook!). We’ll get there again soon and try it out.

I would suggest coming a bit earlier in the evening as they are very popular. The service was excellent. Our server, and bus/hostess were very polite, professional, and attentive. The food was very good. I especially liked our crispy ribs, hot tots, and chocolate crème brûlée. I will easily get these again! Best ribs I’ve had in a long time, because it was confit and had added dry rub afterwards. The chocolate was inside the crème brûlée! Added surprise and perfectly blended flavor in each bite. The one issue I had was that they didn’t want to seat me, because the rest of my party was not there yet. My party consisted of two people, including myself. I represented 50% of the party and they would not seat me. If I asked for a table for one… I was gotten the same table.

The beer selection was pretty good, with my personal favorite being the Flounders porter. The food was non-stop delectable treats, starting with the Poutine, and the Brussel sprouts with bacon appetizers… Mmm. Then we went with 3 large flat bread options for the main course, and none of them disappointed. The ultimate hit, however, was the Benedict flatbread! Talk about a new twist on breakfast for dinner… And we can’t forget about our waitress, Alyssia, who was so impressively knowledgable about all the beer options, as well as so convincing on several of our dining selections. Overall, undoubtably awesome!!!

Great food — especially flatbreads(stone oven baked in front of our table) and the apps are amazing. We had the Hot Tots and Calamari. Our pizza was with duck, strawberries, balsamic and hollandaise sauce. Casual fun atmosphere and friendly attentive service. There’s also some great entrée specials so be sure to check the board! The owners also have a homemade ice cream spot across the street with amazing flavors. Great for dessert!

There was a wait for two on a Sunday night but we were seated before we had a chance to order a drink at the bar. Staff was friendly and competent. I enjoyed the Back to Louisville cocktail while we waited for a large flatbread to arrive, half Duck Beni, half lemon artichoke. I think we both thought the artichoke was decent but were blown away by the duck confit with baked egg, fresh strawberry slices, and balsamic glaze. A great New American place to eat in a cute part of Hudson!

My families experience here was a very good one. I read the reviews about excessively long waits and when I arrived I could see why. The mix of good food and a smaller size restaurant will do that. We happened to be in the area around 545 on a Saturday and had about a 10 minute wait. Just the right amount of time to get a drink at the bar. We sat at a booth adjacent to both the bar and the open kitchen. Nice view of the wood fired oven and the creation of the delicious flatbreads. My flatbread had the crushed tomato sauce, 3 cheese blend, artichoke, bacon and roasted garlic. Gluten free crust is available and it was better than other gluten free pizza crusts I have had elsewhere. The cheese blend had a slight cheddar bite to it, which I loved. If that doesn’t sound good, you can customize the sauce, cheeses, and toppings. Something for everyone. The best testament to the food was that my 10 and 7 year old shared a large pizza and ate the whole thing. That had never happened before. Good apps(the plantain chip nachos with avocado, pineapples and corn kernels was great), lots of beer choices, and gluten friendly. Service was very friendly and helpful. We’ll be back.

Came here because the reviews were promising. However, I came away feeling that the pizza was just OK. If I were rating this place on how cool it is, it’d get 5 stars easy. When you walk in the door passed the hostess booth off to your left you can basically see the whole pizza making operation they’ve got going on. It’s pretty sweet. The service was great. The water they serve is room temperature, though. As for the pizza. We got a large pizza with pepperoni, sausage and olives. They didn’t have black olives only kalamata olives. Black would have been better. The sausage was neither spicy or salty. I easily could have mistaken it for ground chicken or something. The crust was crisp and flavorful, but that was the highlight of the pizza. I’d go back, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

This restaurant is a gem in Hudson, a town in transition. Most people come here for the wood fired pizzas. But, since I am gluten free, why would I keep coming back? First, the gluten free pizza in the wood fired grill is delicious. I have had many such pizzas and several places. Most are poor imitations. This one is truly excellent. Today, I had the cauliflower salad. What I did not expect was that it was delicious grilled cauliflower steak from the same woods fired oven. Nice flavors. I am also giving a shout out to our outstanding server, Elizabeth. She was friendly and prompt. But, even more, she had a great way with people. The kids at the table next to us were quite active. She engaged them, treated them we’ll and was entertaining. The kids really responded to her engaging way. Nice job, Elizabeth. She also really made us feel welcome and increased our overall opinions of the restaurant. You have a gem in her. In conclusion, I think this is a great place for food and service.
