Vignettes

I was looking for some Roger & Gallet soap and went on the company website to find a nearby retailer. On a route that I travel fairly regularly, is Vignettes. It is a charming gift shop located in downtown Hudson, right above one of my favorite restaurants, Downtown 140!
I called ahead and the owner, Mary, set a bar aside for me and I picked it up the next day. The shop was a revelation in that there is a lot of very well designed, and intriguing items, indicating the very good taste and eye for the unusual of the owner. They have a good selection of French linens, wine stoppers, soaps, and a nice selection of Juliska glassware. Mary will also special order anything from the lines that she carries, if you wanted say, a set of 8 wine glasses in green from Juliska (I do).
A side note, there is excellent parking behind the store and you can enter from the back. Just follow the signs pointing you up the stairs.

Incredibly rude employees. I walked into this shop to do some holiday shopping last weekend. I had never been in there before, so I didn’t know what to expect. Well there were 4 women in this small shop rearranging some displays, chit-​chatting and gossiping. NOT ONE of them could stop their oh so important conversation/​work long enough to greet me, ask if I needed help with anything or even acknowledge that I was there. While I do look young for my age, I am almost 27 years old, have a great job and was willing to spend plenty of money on gifts that day, which I did, but NOT in their store. If you can not even acknowledge that someone is in your store and a potential customer, I will not waste my time or money there.
I would not recommend this store, unless you want to feel belittled and deal with these uppity women.
