Absolutely a beautifully appointed place! We had a wonderful table, our waiter was extremely attentive and we wanted for nothing… The menu was difficult to chose from, though that could just be me. They need some lighter dishes and more salads for those of us that like greens, there weren’t many. Desserts were two to choose from and the strawberry shortcake was lovely but needed more strawberries and whipped cream and less biscuit. We enjoyed our night tremendously, but the food could be kicked up a bit. No garlic in escargot?

One of the nicer restaurants in the Hudson area. Ordered the berry gimlet cocktail. Really well made, not too heavy on the gin and not too sweet with the berries. A perfect summer drink. Ordered the oysters. 2 options and can’t say I loved it. The oysters were very small. Wish they had meatier options. The trout toast was just ok. Not noteworthy. Loved the steak. cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious

+ The cocktails are delicious and spot-on. + The food is very good — not a ton of non-meat eating choices, but what they offer is tasty. + $ 1 oysters at happy hour? Thank you. + Open on TUESDAYS. — Except for when we sit at the bar, the service has verged on terrible — drink orders not put in at the bar, servers not checking in on a regular basis. Especially egregious was last week when we were seated on the couches as you enter the restaurant at 5:40ish and handed happy hour menus. The waitress ignored us until 6pm and then told us we could not order from the happy hour menu because happy hour was over… we asked if she could make an exception since we had been sitting there for 20 mins and she said no, the kitchen wouldn’t allow it. Super frustrating. We are locals and really want to love this place. — Pricey, but that seems to be the way of the world.

Awful. The food is not cooked to order and the drinks are way too sweet. I ordered a medium steak and it came out like dog food. So many other places to try. Not worth the NYC prices.

Reserved over Unilocal — convenient, same day, Friday night. The scene was causal but very well presented. We were seated at a long communal table. The cocktails were very good. I had the penicillin, someone had the old fashioned and another had a gin cocktail. All were extremely satisfied. Waiter was very professional and in general everyone was very professional — which I liked — I could imagine some people experiencing it all a bit too contrived — but I was into that this evening. Oysters were good, trout toast, snails and steak tartare. The hanger steak was very good with quite amazing(I believe) deep fried potatoes. All in all it is worth recommending. It is not inexpensive but if you either are flush or wanting a hip special occasion then definitely a place to eat.

The food at this place is fabulous, solid 5 stars. Best dish was the scallops and pilloo(? like a pilaf but from somewhere else?) which was one of the tastiest things I’ve had all year. One star dropped for bad service. We were not sure how much to order, so ordered appetizers and wanted to see how we felt after those before ordering two mains or less. But the waiter(looks like a baby-face barry manilow) came back two minutes later and insisted that we needed to order mains too because … some lame excuse about the kitchen… If the restaurant was full and there were people waiting I’d understand, but it wasn’t quite full at any point during our visit. So, great food but not the place for a leisurely evening.

Celebrated my 30th birthday here this weekend. Excellent, top notch service(Vlad) and also very good food. I have to say that the ambience and the service are why this review is five stars. The food is more like a solid 4 stars. Fav dishes were the octopus, snails, salad and their interesting take on rice pudding. Also, fantastic bar menu/wine selection. We ordered a bunch of small plates, staggered into four courses. Would recommend that. Helpful hint: their small plates are actually pretty large. More like large appetizers than a tappas size.

Great food! Beautiful restaurant. Not a great location for locals, but attractive to people coming off the train. The drinks were superb! But as locals we won’t put this place on our rotation of places we frequent. Disappointed with the service, especially after reading so many positive reviews. The waitress was nice enough but clearly not as well trained for the level of service one would expect at an upper end restaurant. She didn’t introduce herself as our server, so it was awkward from the start. We would have loved a glass of wine or a refill of our drinks when our meal arrived but no one checked in. Multiple little things like that. The oddest thing that happened though is when we arrived. We had a reservation and were the first ones in the restaurant when it opened. We were seated at a table with a long bench along one end while there were other lovely tables available. Not horrible until we noticed that our table was wobbly and asked if they could fix it. Someone came up and said, I can move you(further down the bench), but this table is our problem child. Really? And that’s where you seated your first customers? When we left a little over an hour later(6:15), two of the 4 more attractive tables by the windows were still empty. Great place, food was exceptional but just didn’t make a great impression. I would stop for a drink in the future and maybe eat at the bar.

A unique experience. The Chef knows his trade. Excellent local ingredients. Will return to try more items on the Menu.

The food, ambience and service were very good. Just one criticism — there were not many interesting or creative vegetarian or vegan options. For such a fine restaurant, they should offer one or two top quality imaginative vegetarian options. Don’t make vegetarians feel like second class citizens.

The salad was incredible, it was a grilled asparagus salad with egg and radicchio. It had an excellent sauce on the asparagus too. We had the hanger steak which was a bit chewy, and it came with mashed sweet potatoes. I think I’d rather have fries or regular mashed with a steak, the sweet of the potato didn’t jive with the steak. Service was extraordinary but the prices were up there $ 100 for two. We would go back for the salads and maybe try something else for the entrée. Good luck its a great location.

Came here for dinner the other night while spending a day in Hudson, NY. And by the looks of all the reviews here… decided to give it a try. The dishes we got was an Arugula Salad, King Trumpet Mushroom, and a Flank Steak with Yams & Spinach. The food was delicious! Everything was very flavorful, yet never left you feeling heavy or tired. The prices of the dishes are on the pricier side… and is quite similar to what prices you’ll find in a bustling area in NYC… but I have no regrets… by the end I was satisfied and full, without feeling like you were going to give birth to a food baby lol. The staff was PHENOMENAL in my opinion. They made my friend and I feel very welcome and at home. I definitely would come back again when I visit this area.

I can still taste the ginger cubes and octopus. Friday night, started off at the Hudson Brewery a few doors down which should not be missed. Get the«shave and a haircut» and all will be well. Mosey on over to Farmers, unannounced, and grab some fantastic drinks at the bar; I had the Cablegram and my pal had the Penicillin. Both of these has ginger«cubes» dropped into the drinks as ingredients which made them very tasty. After our first round we asked the hostess for a table for 2 and they told us about 20 – 25 minutes?! Sweet! I didn’t think on a Friday night that would play out as I’ve heard you need res’s 2 weeks in advance for 4 or more. So we knock down a few more fresh mixes from the bar and sit down for some eats. The décor, lighting, fireplace is so well done. Even packed out, there was room to move and the venue felt so warm that I thought«wow, this is what the folks who designed this had exactly in their minds.» It was very laid back, service was great, meals were fantastical. Started off with mushrooms in blue cheese and the Octopus with, I believe, were sweet peppers. Then my buddy got this steak platter that was very well executed and I ordered the burger, but I feel bad calling it a burger. It was a hi-end meal that resembled an amazing cheeseburger. Had a few glasses of wine with dinner then headed to Helsinki for a night cap and great show. Highly recommend this establishment, and wish them all the best.

Easy to see why this place was packed on a Saturday night. Wm Farmer & Sons is a well-executed farm-to-table experience with a great bar and friendly service. This might just be my new favorite restaurant in Hudson. When my wife and I walked in without a reservation, we were greeted by Brian, who took our names down and offered to call us once a table opened up. This was a nice touch because we were staying right up the street and didn’t want to stand around for an hour, the expected wait time. Once we were seated, we were impressed by the menu options. For drinks, they have a nice selection of craft whiskeys, local beers and ciders, and specialty cocktails. For food, the options reflect a smart combination of New American haute cuisine and traditional rural comfort food. Some things you don’t want to miss: 1) The ham board — homemade pickles, pepper jelly, and warm Southern biscuits. 2) The pork shank — crispy, juicy pork, light, tart, apple slaw, and some of the best baked beans I’ve ever eaten 3) The banana bread pudding dessert.

This place is incredible. You can tell, from the moment you walk in, that these people care about your personal experience in the space. The service was phenomenal, the staff was friendly, the food was SPECTACULAR, and the style/décor was charming. It will be hard not to go back every time I am in Hudson.

Fancy schmancy! The food here is amazing. I had the octopus salad and clam chowder and was very satisfied. Highly recommend both. The bartenders were lovely. Very nice and personable people. When I was asked to moved one seat over to fit a party of two(I didn’t mind) my server topped my wine off for the inconvenience. How thoughtful! Wine was great. I got the sirah they had available. Really smooth. All wine is on tap and they can fill carafes for you if you want a bottle. So cool. Overall great service.

Hubby and I decided last minute to come up to Hudson for the night. And walked past this place and thought why not give it a try? Given the restaurant we were going to return to from a previous trip wasn’t spectacular. Started with penicillin cocktail, soda and pork balls. Good… We both got the hanger steak which was perfectly prepared with fries and veggie. Good décor and all. Can’t complain. Price is a little steep($ 27 an entrée) for the Catskill so one star off… But not a big deal if you enjoy good drinks, food and décor.

Located along Front Street in Hudson, I’ve walked past Wm Farmer & Sons with my friend who is an architect. We both noticed the great renovation that was done to the outside of the building, and the beautiful windows. We decided to come in for a drink and were excited to see a restaurant and bar area with such style in Hudson. I had a nice California pinot noir and delicious little neck clams and some fresh bread. The lighting is perfect and the natural light is quite impressive too. I will update my review once I have a chance to navigate more of the menu. The tuna app looks quite promising, as do the specialty drinks as well. Wm Farmer & Sons is a great addition to the food and bar scene in Hudson. If you are waiting for someone coming to Hudson via Amtrak then you are in luck. The restaurant is across the street.
