I wanted to have the oil changed in both my and my wifes car so I tried out HPH Mechanical that is just down the road from me. If you bring your own oil and filter they only charge a flat rate of $ 5 (not a misprint) to drain and replace the oil and install the filter. They can also provide these if you wish with a minimal markup. My wifes car (4 cyl) came to a total of $ 37 and mine (6 cyl) $ 47 due to the extra oil needed.
Pros: The people there were very friendly and sociable. They seemed to be a family with Dad, Mom, Daughter and Son. The inside where my wife and I waited was very clean and had a small HDTV to watch.
Cons: I think the owner is a hunter and had several stuffed animals on the wall and on the counter. This did not bother me, but thought I should mention since if it is not something you are used to it can be distracting.
Conclusion: If you catch a sale for oil and filter at one of the local do it yourself Auto Parts places you can turn a pain in the butt chore to a cheap and painless experience.
