This arcade is AMAZING. I have been here many times of the last few years(yet not once this year… but I’ll make a trip down soon…), and it’s always been great. The prizes are great, the tickets aren’t impossible to earn, and it’s overall just a great place to be… one of the only things to do down here in Hull… great experiences, would highly suggest going after your beach trip.

Had enough of the beach and the sand and the sun and just want to pass some time indoors without incurring additional calories? There’s an arcade here at Hull across the street from Nantasket beach! Yup, it reminded me of Dave & Buster’s — not in terms of size, but in terms of the sort of games they have here. A nice thing is that instead of making their patrons trade in their George Washingtons for useless outside of the Dream Machine tokens, the coin of the land is the common quarter. Not sure how 3 pre-teen boys ended up with the plastic bag and tub filled with ticket prizes in such a short time. We played for a half hour, spending about $ 3 worth of quarters and only ended up with 200 tickets between the three of us after all was weighed and said. Only enough to open the prizes in the left side counters to us. But then we spotted a couple of cute creatures for 100 tickets apiece hidden among the larger pricier prizes on the right side, and we took home two cute little red crab buddies.

Dream Machine is one of the last remaining vestiges of the old Nantasket boardwalk. There is a large variety of the latest video games, but this is really an old school arcade. Specifically, it is an arcade focused on electromechanical games from Skee ball to other physical challenges, various shooting games ranging from laser rifles, water cannons, to balls and beanbags. Plus various other games of chance, from slot machines to other classic arcade favorites. As the other reviews stated, the games provide a tickets which can be redeemed for prizes of various types(and candy — assume most go for the candy.) There used to be arcades like this all over the country, but now they’re few and far between — Dave and Busters really does not count. The mix of history, innocent fun and generally very helpful, clean-cut young staff make this a great place for bringing kids — my 8 year old son *LOVES* the place and my 5 year old daughter has enjoyed it since she was 3, but I always see teenagers and young adults in there there as well. It is not«kiddie» like Chuck E. Cheese, it is well-mixed between challenging games, games of chance, and many different game types of varying levels of difficulty. There is usually a diverse crowd, but not the rift-raft that you typically see with arcades that have become hang-outs. It is a place where young moms can be comfortable bringing young kids, but generally everything does require adult supervision — it is not a playground or a drop-off for preteens. It is also not an ideal place for a large birthday party, but could be a fun spot for a small gathering(i.e., no more than 6 kids, at least 2 adults). There is a great ice cream and fried stuff place at the front(separate business but same building.)

If you love video arcades this is your place! So many games. They even have that one where you shoot different characters and they move and make funny sounds. I also love skee ball! If you are ever visiting the beach and want to get some shade come to the Dream Machine!
