We had the mariscada, jerk chicken, and ropa vieja. The mariscada was exceptional. Basically a seafood soup in a tomato based broth. Very strong seafood flavor. I did not like the jerk chicken. I suppose my disapointment was due to the fact that it came out with barbeque sauce??? Wtf? Lol! Who makes jerk chicken that way? We got the ropa vieja to go. It was good. This dish has a very pepper forward flavor profile. Our waiter was a really good kid. Just that alone is worth a star or so. The atmosphere is quite lacking. Pretty much just an open space with bright yellow walls and purple accents. They could do a lot to improve this without spending much money. It seems like there is too much space. There is a very generic sterile feeling. We feel the cuisine is more important, so this aspect wasnt a deal breaker for us. We felt the prices were reasonable. Tipico café, it is not, but it seems there are at least a few really good dishes on the menu that make it worth coming here. All and all, it is a new restaurant probably still trying to get it figured out. We will definately come back. Next time, i’m going to try something other than the jerk chicken. I’m probably going to try the parradilla.
