This place is hidden gem, I will certainly be returning in the near future. Granny’s Tamales has the best Tamales in the Humble, Atascocita & Kingwood area. My tastebuds have been spoiled from Alamo just east of downtown Houston off navigation. I am also pregnant, so I almost passed Granny’s up due to no answer/response on the telephone. I was on my way downtown & am so happy that I drove by and saw the OPEN sign lit up. They were in the kitchen cooking so that explains why no one answered. You would be naïve if you do not try this place out. I ordered the Spicy Pork Tamales & oh my goodness they did not disappoint me at all. I have no reason to drive across town for juicy, decadent, perfectly seasoned Tamales. They have a pretty good selection other than beef, pork or chicken. The only 2 cons are the price by the dozen seemed like it was $ 1.00 overpriced and the salsa you have to purchase by the pint for like $ 5.00. The lady did give me 2 small containers of salsa to go though. They also do not have seating. My advice go try this place!

Picked up our holiday tamales this morning. Service was quick and the help was all smiles. I sampled a few tamales when I got home and they are amazing as always. I’m happy I found this place years ago so that I’m able to keep the holiday tradition I grew up with alive and Introduce it to my daughter.

I was gifted these by a co-worker today, who offered to share so that I wouldn’t have to face the sideways rain. An employee came to our office and sold them to our receptionist, and I got to reap the rewards! I had the spicy pork and oh my heavens! They weren’t too hot to where your mouth was still hurting afterwards, but you can definitely feel it a little. They must have read old reviews and took them to heart, because they weren’t oily and they had a good amount of meat(I’m used to seeing more still, but a good enough amount that my 150 pound self was satisfied with 2, but could have eaten 3 easily. I never knew about them, but apparently from other reviewers they have been around for over a decade. I will definitely be ordering from them soon for my family!

My granny knows how to make tamales, Yours does not. My granny knows how to shred the chicken with such grace Yours does not. My granny knows how to pound the masa with such pace Yours does not. My granny knows how to wrap the silky, and wet casings in place Yours does not My granny knows that I love tamales de mole with a smile on her face Yours does not. Granny knows how to make Tamales, and apparently, yours does not. I’ve been eating at Granny’s Tamales Three for maybe 10 – 15 years. Family owned and operated business nestled in the heart of the TRUE old Humble. It is a small, yellow, stand alone building across from the vintage oil well. Blink and you’ll miss it. The tamales are your standard chx/bf/pk, mild or spicy. It’s about 7 inches long and 2 inches thick of heaven. Yea, that’s what she said. The masa is fine enough to not be gritty but course enough to have a great texture and keep its form. No one eats tamales to feel healthy. In fact, a really good tamale place should make you curl up in your bed, clutching your food baby, tears streaming down your face as 24 wrappers lay scattered across your sheets. So, to those who feel like they are too greasy, you go ahead and just pass those down the table because that, sweet reader, is the grease that brings you to flavor country. They also make a damn good homemade salsa in house. It’s the real deal, no preservative crap. It’s lovely to add to any arsenal of condiments you choose to pair your tamale with. This Granny knows how to make tamales, yours does not.

I have been coming here for 8 years now and love it. They have the Best tamales I’ve ever ate! I highly recommend them to anyone. They are mainly a to-go place, just a heads up.

Most of my visits have been dry runs…“no we don’t have those today” The tamales are generally good, but their staff, ummm No. A not friendly front staff and if she is busy or gone and one of the crew from the back attempts to help you, well it could scare some people. Attitude from a ‘wanna-be thug’ won’t get you any return business.

I am conflicted more than usual as I write this review. I will open with the statement that the tamales(spicy chicken and spicy pork/beef combo) were good but the store front was seriously off putting. On a lunch adventure, we googled«tamales» and seeing nothing objectionable in reviews for this place we decided to give it a shot. The place looks fine from outside and they had a cute delivery van with pictures of granny and gramps out front. Upon entering, all three of us became a bit uneasy and eyed the door nervously due to the generally high level of sketch. There is a table inside with two chairs, but I frankly would have been uncomfortable in the makeshift dining cubby next to the ad hoc plywood counter. We took our parcel back to the office and pulled straws to see who would try one first. In the end, nobody suffered any ill effects of the gastrointestinal variety. The tamales were actually quite good. There are more flavors listed on the wipe board menu like corn and spinach, but you have to call 1 hour in advance to order those. We got a dozen tamales for 8 bucks and it was enough for three people. This place would be great for catering, especially if they bring the tamales to you.

The tamales were OK. I had the spicy chicken tamales. There is a lot of the corn meal and small amounts of meat — a little oily. The spices are very good. $ 8.00 per dozen
