Trend Setters Salon

I recently went to this salon with a friend to use a Groupon that I just purchased. I got full highlights, cut, style, and blowdry for $ 35, which is a deal anyday. She got the $ 12 shampoo, cut, and style, also a good deal. I got a little lost, because I was thinking the salon would be near the square of Hummelstown, but it’s further down Main St. The curb appearance was a little lacking, but we ventured inside the renovated house. We had to stand near the door, because the owner Jen was finishing up an earlier client, which was fine, we were about 10 minutes early anyway. The inside was small, but nice. The décor could have used some updating, but I’m there to get my hair done, not look at pretty pictures.
Jen was the only staff there and she is the owner of the Salon. She was friendly and professional, which I appreciate. She asked me what I wanted and I wanted my highlights touched up all over. Her small dog napped on one of the waiting chairs while Jen, my friend, and I all chatted. Excellent highlighting, sunkissed blonde that I wanted. AMAZING shampoo with head massage that both my friend and I commented on.
On to the cut. Now, I don’t really care too much about my color, I just get blonde highlights which aren’t a big deal as I have dark blonde hair that processes quickly and easily. I can get a bit anxious during cuts, because I’ve gotten mullets, the «½ inch» trim that became a 3 inch chop, and generally scissor happy hairdressers. I asked for just a ½ inch trim, which amazingly, I got! Jen told me that she took off about a ½ inch on the longest layer and cleaned up the rest of the layers. I was super happy with the cut (which I don’t think I’ve been in about 4 years of different stylists). If you are looking for a hairdresser that is long hair respectful, don’t hesitate to go to Jen.
All in all I’m very pleased. I would have given 4.5 stars if I could, because the physical building and décor were cozy and there was only 3 people there. Jen was very kind, down to earth, but up to date, which is the perfect combination for a hair stylist for me. Again, amazing shampoo and head massage, great sunkissed highlights, and respected my long hair wishes. If you’re looking for a professional choice in the hershey/​east harrisburg area without snooty stylists, give Trend Setters a try (especially if you want a hair stylist that respects long hair)!
