My only problem with this location is that they don’t have a pool. Other than that, the staff is beyond accommodating, they’ve been going out of their way to make out stay great. The rooms are clean, the balcony view is beautiful(we are hoping to see some wildlife,) there is coffee as tea available all day, a delicious continental breakfast, and on Sunday there will be brunch. Minutes from Hunter Mountain and Kaatersksill Falls, I 110% recommend Hunter Inn. We were supposed to stay elsewhere, which had a 5 star rating here and in TripAdvisor, but we pulled up, checked in, and found projectile vomit on the wall, shower curtain, and inside the lamp. There were no towels in the bathroom, furniture was broken, it smelled. We left and stumbled upon Hunter last minute, they took us right in and we can’t wait to come back!!!

Fiancé and I made a trip up the the mountains a few years ago in hopes of securing a last minute camp site at North South Lake. They were totally booked up. So rather than driving all the way back to Morris County, NJ. I found cell service, and then promptly discovered this place. They were extremely polite and understanding when I explained the situation to them, and said that they of course had a room open for us. When we got to the Inn, we were promptly checked in and shown to our room by a very nice girl behind the counter. The room was extremely affordable and had two QUEEN beds as well as a jacuzzi tub. We found a local liquor store, grabbed a couple blocks of cheese, a bottle of red and a bottle of white, and went back to the Inn. I was still a smoker at the time, and the fact that the deck that was off the room had a butt holder but was still extremely clean was a huge bonus. We sat on the deck sipping wine, eating cheese, and listening to the sounds of the mountain(and the occasional cityslicker bitching and moaning about the lack of technology or the lack of night clubs and all night bars in the area), and all-in-all had an amazing and relaxing weekend! I have always thought about going back to the Inn, though most of our trips to the area are spent camping.

WOW this place is a DUMP. We actually put a towel down on the bed. We decided to go to hunter mountain skiing and everything decent was booked but here. We pay a lot for a MOTEL8. Like $ 228 for a crapy crapy room. The curtains were obviously used to make the linens on the bed. The towels were from like the 1960 as was the rest of the furniture. This place is disgusting and it should be condemned. Actually Motel 8’s are much nicer than this place. it’s practically a stationary trailer park. Its dark, dirty, crappy food at breakfast. I didn’t even touch it. I tasted the coffeed and spit it out. There is no staff. Just a window to check in. What a joke. it’s not even worth complaining it will go now where. and so when you look at places to stay you should skip this one fast. skii on to the next joint!

You think you booked but you did not !! They have the worst reservation process and are not even embarrassed to cancel your trip 3 days before — they explain that they«thought you had their message» and that is as far as it goes with no apology. Do not trust them.

If you’re a spoiled Manhattanite on holiday in the Adirondacks and accustomed to a free butler-assisted reach around and 24-hour asswipe service with your hotel suite, this is not the place for you. This place is just a good old ski bum hotel. If you want to stay somewhere fairly inexpensive, close to Hunter and free of bedbugs and semen sheets, this Inn is perfect. The lobby is quaint and comfortable with nice couches and a fireplace and there’s even a small game room downstairs with ping pong tables and some arcade games from the 80s. The rooms are dated, but big, comfortable and clean. I’d assume if you’re staying here, it’s to ski or enjoy some outdoor mountain activity, so you shouldn’t be overly miffed at the lack of flat-screen televisions. If you’re at this hotel to watch tv all day, ask for the«Loser Suite». It’s in the basement. On top of it all, the owner is very sweet and attentive. There was a power outage beyond her control when we were there around Christmas and she went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of and updated. You could tell she was hard-working and cared about her customers. I was actually hoping the power would stay down, because she mentioned building a big fire and breaking out the beer as a remedy for boredom. Damn power company. The one time those turds decide to be efficient…

Restaurant Review: I looked on every review out there and found nothing on the hunter inn restaurant so I’m going to leave my first ever review to help everyone out. Going in without my Unilocal crutch was very nerve racking but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. My wife and I got the steak and prime rib. Nothing else to say but good. Not crazy over the top excellent(we are from Long Island, ny where we are surrounded by steakhouses) but for a night after a long day at the mountain and for being in the Catskills this place is worth a try. Also for you drinkers… I ordered a dirty martini(ballsy move for upstate ny) and it was actually pretty good.

Nice and close to the Mountain. But defiantly needs to be updated I was here 5+ years ago and nothing has changed!!! The TVs in the bedrooms are from sometime in the 90’s. Defiantly need new TV’s and maybe DVD players. Also there is no WiFi in any of the bedrooms in feel like I went back in time to 2005, but hey if you want to rent a VCR you can still do that for $ 10 a day

We stayed here on our way home from Oneonta. Well, first things first… our room smelled funny. We were in the ‘basement’ floor so what should we expect. Can’t really pinpoint it but it smelled like someone tried to cover up an earlier smell with something that didn’t really work… Anyway, we popped in kind of late on a busy weekend so I guess that’s all that was left. The lobby was great, nice fireplace, bar, restaurant. Good grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner. Very well stocked free breakfast. Maybe a better room in one of the higher floors would have been better. Ya think??? :-) Oh and the WiFi wouldn’t work!!! I had to have some work done unfortunately and I needed to get it done by 8:30am. No ones was working but when I asked the front desk they initially implied that there was something wrong with my equipment. I have an iphone 4s and an IBM work supported laptop. Then they started to help a little by asking some of their workers and they couldn’t get wi fi either on their iphones or blackberry’s which usually means something is wrong with the service. Thanks for everything else though.

We decided to stay the night in Hunter because we were too tired to drive home after a day of snowboarding. Big mistake. From the outside and lobby this place looked okay, but the room we stayed in was more college dorm than quaint country inn. For the price of a nice hotel in a major city, we got a dimly lit, dank basement room with concrete hallways and an institutional metal door(hardly romantic). The place was fairly noisy at night and the persistent musky odor didn’t do much to make it a memorable stay. On the plus side, they included a breakfast buffet and the front desk was pleasant.

We stayed at The Hunter Inn a couple of years ago, and it was great. We came back thins December, and were UNpleasantly surprised! There has apparently been a change in management, NOT for the better. We were welcomed into our room with light bulbs so dim, we could hardly make our way to the bed or see what was where in the suitcase. Then we decided to go have a meal in their restaurant, MISTAKE… the steak my son ordered was severely under cooked, and still mooing; he could not even eat it. My spaghetti and meatballs was just plain nasty, apparently the pasta was not drained before being put on the plate, as there was more water than sauce. There were three of us staying in the suite, and we got ONE bar of soap to share, along with one washcloth! They even rationed the TP! Apparently the new mgmt is from a third world country, as their English is very poor, and you can tell they are pinching pennies! Terrible experience, would not return!

This place is conveniently located near Hunter Mountain. They offer one free cocktail each night and a delicious complimentary breakfast. There is an outdoor jacuzzi where you can bask in the gloriousness of the cold outdoors while boiling yourself like a lobster, slowly relaxing into the heat. Apparently these features made the owners of the hotel stop trying in every other capacity to maintain the hotel for visitors. The women who run the front desk are snarky creatures from the eastern bloc with little tolerance for questions or requests. I lived in constant fear that each question I asked would be my last. There are a number of inns in the area, so it’s hard to say why these women treat their customers like poo. I would suggest you try another hotel that offers lift and rental discount packages.
