Love this place! Always consistently good food and great soups. You know what you’re getting each and every time and they don’t disappoint.

My GF and I went to Ben & Irv’s today. It was my first time, the service was excellent and our waitress(Isabella) was wonderful! We shared a Reuben and the corn beef special. The corn beef just melted in your mouth, just delicious! The portions are large, so come hungry. Definitely a great dining experience…

I have been coming to Ben and Irvs since I have been born. I would say I am there about 6 times a month. My favorite thing to get at a Jewish deli is hard kosher salami with a toasted poppy seed bagel and hot peppers with spicy mustard. I only get this a couple times a year because it’s not the best thing for you but it’s an unreal amazing sandwich that I will always recommend if you want something amazing. Today I had a really awesome turkey whole wheat wrap with Dijon mustard, tomato, and onion. I asked for the Dijon mustard on the side and also got hot peppers on the side. It was also one of the best sandwiches I have had. So good! I would say I find their soups just average. Most times I come there I get a half a sandwich, maybe turkey/hot pastrami and a small salad. Sometimes I do nova lox or kippered salmon or white fish salad on a bagel. Other times I get an egg white omelet. I really like their chef salad too Ben and irvs tables are always clean. Their waitresses and waiters are always nice and polite for the most part. It’s always quick to get the food. I have had so many things on their menu through out the years and can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal.

Ben and Irvs is the BEST deli anywhere around!!! The menu includes all kinds of smoked fish, chopped liver and all kinds of Jewish food. They are especially known for their soups. You can’t not love their chicken soup with huge matzah balls!!! However; there are many other choices! Vegetable, chicken with rice, mushroom barley etc. Too many to list but all delicious!!! There are many selections on their dinner menu and their salads are wonderful. The portions on all the selections are large and the quality of their food is always fresh and served beautifully. The prices are always fair and the servers are always courteous and eager to please. I must also mention the large selections of awesome desserts! Cakes, pies and my favorite waffles and ice cream!!! We are very lucky because Ben and Irvs happens to be our neighborhood restaurant but people come from all over to experience this wonderful establishment.

Average deli food but popular place as it is one of few in the immediate area. The blonde woman working at the front register definitely treats the«regulars» differently than other customers that she doesn’t know. The waitstaff was pleasant though. They sell the rye bread at the front but don’t get a half-loaf as it must not move as fast as the whole loaves since the half-loaf we bought was not even close to being as fresh as the rye being used to make the sandwiches with. The corned beef special on rye is good but the amount of dressing & slaw on it varied on each of our trips.

Good filling food that is not that expensive. Pickles are the«bread». I ate the stack and it was awesome. Good service as well. Will definately go back.

I only come to Jewish deli restaurants for reubens, monte cristos, and pickles. In my visit, I got to experience all three. I was not let down in the least. Their sandwiches are huge and delicious. I had ordered a turkey reuben that was presented to me open faced on rye, piled with sauerkraut and Swiss with a side of Russian dressing. It came with a side of bagged chips that I never got to. The monte cristo was absolutely amazing. The challah French toast that it came on was amazing enough on its own. The fries were unlike anything I’ve ever had, but they were freakin good. Why four stars? The service kind of sucks… I don’t mind waiting(this place gets packed, so be prepared to wait), but the servers can be kind of cold and off putting. The food is what matters here… and it does its job.

HORRIBLEPEOPLE! I usually don’t write reviews of this nature but after three bad experiences at this place I’m so angry. 1) They are rude and abrasive. They treated me like I didn’t belong there. 2) The food is not worth the price. Overpriced bland food but they can get away with it because of the area. 3) I am not white or jewish so I guess that’s why I am treated like crap here. I work within walking distance from here so I like to patronage places close but this is one that I will campaign against. This probably won’t have a big impact on their business but at least I can share my experience.

Yep having Nova Scotia lox again this time also trying the kippered salmon. Last meal here in philly hope it’s a good one. This place has 9 pages of food to choose from most front and back. Incredible! Jewish style everything. Omelettes, bagels, sandwiches, seafood, poultry, etc.

I’ve been here a few times, but have never had anything except the breakfast. Eh, I’m just a breakfast food person. Years ago there was a Ben & Irv’s located in Newtown, and has since changed names. Not sure if that was the same ownership? Ambiance is what you would expect from a deli: informal, sometimes a little bit loud. The menu is huge, but it IS a deli, almost a diner, which is par for the course. Admittedly, the quality is not 5 stars, but I wouldn’t expect top quality for the price. Portions are more than ample. I read a lot of comments about the prices, which confused me. We had always gone to Ben & Irv’s *because* it was a good value, so unless they’re recently jacked up prices, I think they are more than reasonable. Service isn’t consistent. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s slow. I don’t think this is because of how busy it is, but some servers are just better than others. Your best bet is to dine at a non standard time, since the line to be seated can be long. Definitely a place worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Large menu of options. Food is good. Sadly the women at the cash register has zero customer service skills. As I waited in line to pay an elderly women in front of me was paying and said she had more things she ordered behind the deli. The cashier very rudely shouted«well what do you have» while rolling her eyes at the elderly women. She acted as if everyone was on her last nerve. And this is her attitude every time I’ve visited .If she hates her job that much she should quit

I’ve been here countless amounts of times, and I’ve never been disappointed. The portions are large, so I believe it’s fairly priced for the amount of food you get. There aren’t too many Jewish styled delis around where I live, so I’m grateful for this spot that’s been a family favorite since I was a toddler. For breakfast, I have to say, Ben and Irv makes the best hash browns I’ve had in a while. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; they way they should be! I’ve had a variety of their sandwiches and I’ve been impressed with them all. The only one I didn’t like was a liverwurst one, but that’s not the diner’s fault, I just didn’t care for liverwurst! Personal preference. The variety of food they have is astounding! There’s something for everyone. I know people might complain about how crowded it gets, but what do you expect from an amazing deli that everyone and their mother,(and grandmother) loves? That’s a reflection on the quality of their product! And the waitstaff is friendly as well. I’ll definitely be taking my future kids here. Keep the tradition alive!

EW, GROSS. I am not sure why I agreed to eat lunch at Ben & Irv’s. It was worse than I was expecting. And I really don’t understand why this place as so many 4&5 star reviews… Upon entering, you have to walk through the market counter area to get to the dining room. The loud dining room is crammed with old-school diner booths lining the walls and a row down the middle. Their menu is a novel, of every sandwich, salad, wrap, entrée, or breakfast item you could imagine. As the celebrity chef’s like to preach on their restaurant makeover shows: the larger the menu, the lower the quality. Ben & Irv’s executes that perfectly. I had a turkey sandwich that came with some sad french fries that were cold within seconds of arrival. My mom had the bagel and lox(it was served over a bed of lettuce, tomato slices and olives that looked like they had been plated days ago. Our waitress, who was less than attentive, sounded like she has been smoking a pack-a-day for the last 50 years. I had to ask for a water refill twice. Prices were not cheap for a diner. I won’t be returning.

This is a 4 star«Jewish» Deli. I wouldn’t call them a 4 star restaurant. More like an upscale«diner» feel to it, with a take out menu and deli cases in the front. I haven’t been here in about 10 years until yesterday, as I don’t have reason to be over County Line Rd as frequent as in the past. Starting with the complementary pickles and the pickled green tomatoes you are in for a treat. The menu is huge! The sandwiches are stuffed the way sandwiches should be. There’s nothing wrong with taking home what you can’t eat. I’ve been there for breakfast, totally 4 stars, and lunch for salads, sandwiches, soups, wraps, etc. And they are consistent as they were 10 years ago… good quality, fresh, quantity. And the service I would say was even better, considerate, friendly and efficient. Now how many of you people out there remember Ben and Irv’s when they were on Ogontz Ave. in Philadelphia? Yep, the good old days. ;-)

This is a great location to have a restaurant inside a strip mall. Desided to try this place for the first time, for breakfast. When you walk in to the right you have the bakery and other kind of different lunch meats and foods you can get to go. And keep walking down and to the left you will see the dinning area to sit at. When arriving to sit down. It’s not hard to notice that the lighting is as bright as it could be. So don’t worry you will be enjoying your food with plenty of light around you. The menu portion is huge for breakfast and took me a little bit to desided on what I was getting. I got my usual the 2 eggs with meat. And coffee. The eggs, home fries and big peice of scrapple was good and so was coffee. And they give you toast with it and put butter and jelly on side. So great to have 2 options on if you want eaither one. The service was great. Waitress was so nice back at the table every 5 min. Asking how everything Was and if I need refill. Good waitressing is always a great thing that early in the morning. I look forward to coming back hear again.

After our monthly JRA deliveries, we customarily brunch at B&I. Although a little pricier than some of the other nearby breakfast places, one gets value in terms of the quality of the food, relative deliciousness of the coffee, general cleanliness of the place and the waitstaff who call you«hon.» We almost always start on the specials page, which has a couple of family favs: The nova and bagel plate and the Biggee, which is a patron’s own personal smörgåsbord of eggs, pancakes, bacon, toast or bagel and home fries. It truly is enough for two, although the menfolk have been known to clean their plates. The Mister is also a fan of B&I’s omelets but not thrilled with the scrapple(wrong brand and not cooked quite right). B&I also is a solid destination for a quick bite at dinner. Its weekday dinner specials compare favorably in price and amenities to diner offerings. In our rotation are the chopped salad, ½ chicken, and corned beef sandwich. My favorite part of a B&I dinner, however, is the complementary pickle bowl. The half-sours are a personal fav. The friendly, energetic vibe at B&I also is invigorating. B&I has a loyal clientele whose paths regularly cross at this suburban Grand Central Station. We love seeing and hearing the cross-restaurant greetings. Note that some prices are a bit higher on the weekends. Get on the e-mailing list for weekly specials and discounts.

I bought a Groupon for this place as I saw it had some great reviews and I’m always up for a great Jewish deli! As we went to Ben and Irv’s, I experienced my typical dilemma — smoked fish or smoked meat. So I just couldn’t help myself, and did both. I ordered a fish platter with whitefish salad and baked salmon(kippered salmon). It was fantastic. Like just as good as Brent’s(Brent’s is the best deli in L.A.). Whitefish not too fishy, just the right amount of fishy. Baked salmon perfectly smoked and soft. The cream cheese was standard which should have been whipped, but still good. The platter also had a nice amount of tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers and looked really nice(I took a picture). Also ordered iced coffee which was surprisingly delicious. Iced coffee isn’t usually something that I notice unless it is really good or really bad, but this iced coffee was reeeeally good. Service was very good and did not get the typical hassle when using Groupons or other coupons/vouchers and other restaurants. I was stuffed after that fish platter, so I strolled to the deli counter and got a few things to try later at home. I picked up some corned beef, whitefish salad(it was terrific), some excellent day old rye bread, and tuna salad. It was not cheap(except for the bread), but it was well worth it. This will be my go to deli from now on and looking forward to bringing guests here when they come to visit.
