How do I even begin to describe my horrible experience with this company? Get ready for an essay. My Toyota Corolla was being moved from California to Philadelphia about a week ago. They picked up the car on a Friday and said it would arrive 5 – 6 days later. During this time, I was never contacted by Starway to notify me when my car would be delivered. The following Wednesday I called them to see when they expected my car to arrive. I first called the driver who picked up my car in California and he told me he did not have a Toyota Corolla on his truck and that I had the wrong number. I tried to tell him he was the one who called me when he picked up my car, but he insisted he never picked up my car in California. Naturally, this freaked me out. I then called the office and the woman told me it would arrive the following morning (Thursday) but they were unable to bring the car to my home because their truck was too big to bring into the city. Funny, this was the first I ever heard of this issue and I had to call THEM to find this out. She told me their yard was about 10 miles outside of Philadelphia and to call the next morning– she would give me the address then so I could pick it up. I called Thursday morning, got the address, and found out it was more like 35 miles outside the city. The only good thing this company did was give me a $ 50 discount for not delivering it to my home as agreed upon.
When I arrived at their yard on Thursday morning, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. From the moment I arrived, I was treated like garbage. I signed the release saying there was no damage on my car (there wasn’t), and went to pay. I handed the man my credit card, he took it from me, looked at my credit card then looked at me like I was a complete idiot. He YELLED at me, «WHAT IS THIS?!» in an astonishingly rude and demeaning way. I answered, «it’s my credit card.» He then handed it back to me and yelled «WE DON’T TAKE THIS! THE BROKER TOLD YOU THIS! IT WAS IN YOUR CONTRACT!» First of all, NO the broker did not explain it to me that way. He told me I would pay a deposit on my credit card, which I did. He then told me once I picked up my car the rest would be charged. Yes, I was misinformed. Did I need to be SCREAMED at? Absolutely not. I was able to remain calm and asked him where the closest bank was to get cash or a money order. He told me Wells Fargo was up the street. He told me the name of the company to make it out to, so off I went. I got the money order, returned and handed it to him. He said «hold on» and took my money order inside the office. He came back outside, gave me the money order back and said, «this isn’t going to work.» Okay…“why not?” I asked. He then started screaming at me again saying, «THIS IS NOT THE NAME OF OUR COMPANY!» Apparently I misunderstood him when he told me the name, so the money order was made out to the wrong company name. This was my mistake, I understand, but again, there was no reason to SCREAM in my face. This is when I lost my cool and told him that I understood I made a mistake but he didn’t have to be an asshole about it and there was no reason to scream at me. He FLIPPED out yelling things like «YOU THINK I DON’T KNOW MY OWN COMPANY NAME? I WORK HERE, YOU THINK I DON’T KNOW IT? YOU’RE THE ONE TRYING TO NOT PAY ME!» So, now this man has yelled at me, treated me like an idiot, and accused me of trying to skip payment. I finally went into the office to speak to his manager, he followed me in and announced to the entire staff «This girl thinks I’m being an asshole.» Very mature and what a great way to act around a customer. The manager was nice enough and told me to go to the bank to void that money order and get a new one. I was a little disappointed that she didn’t apologize for her employees inappropriate behavior or ask me for more details. She was nice, but didn’t seem to care that I had a problem with him. I got the money order fixed, went back to the yard and got my car.
Bottom line, I have NEVER been spoken to in such an awful way by ANYONE in my life. News flash, you work in a customer service industry. Screaming at customers is completely unacceptable and an embarrassing way to conduct business. MAYBE, just maybe if this company knew how to communicate in a proper way this all could have been avoided. Run away from this company as fast as you possibly can.

I moved from Baltimore, MD to the bay area and needed to ship my Mercedes Benz SUV. I went through another company who subcontracted to Starway Logistics. Nic, the driver from Starway was the one who transported my car across the country. I appreciate him putting my car in the best spot of the truck throughout the whole ride. As I have discussed with the dispatcher from the initial company, I needed my car delivered by Sun or Mon (pick up was scheduled on a Tues). My car got to the bay area on Sun, which worked perfectly for me. When I got my car, there were no apparent damages or any issues. The car was dirty on the exterior, but nothing a good car wash can’t fix. By the way, I had somethings in the car to be shipped together such as a bike (less than 100 pounds). The bike and the other things all arrived in 1 piece without any problem. I’ve been driving my car around for about a month now since the transport and can safely say that Starway did a great job. Nic was courteous and awesome to work with. I too read the Unilocal reviews on Starway and was nervous about the transport, but overall I am happy with their service.

Starway Logistics was subcontracted to ship my Subaru Crosstrek from the Bay Area to DC by Montway Auto Transport. The transaction was very straightforward. They came within the expected time frame and gave a few hours notice. They delivered the car within the expected time frame despite their truck breaking down. Everything went smoothly and there was no damage to the car. Trucking is a tough business and people give truckers too much s**t. They did a good job in my case. I think the other reviewers just ran into bad luck. Communication could have been more frequent and improved, but English wasn’t their first language. However, they were still very professional and courteous.

As a moving company I hire auto transport companies to transport vehicles often. Starway is a subcontractor of the company I’ve hired many times. This is the first time I’ve used Starway and if I could give them 0 stars I would. They damages my clients car and didn’t inform me or my client. They are irresponsible thieves who should have their licenses revoked. I’ve contacted the Department of Transportation to report them of their crime. DON’T EVER LET THESE PEOPLE TRANSPORT YOUR VEHICLES!

Starway is the subcontractor responsible for handling the shipping of my car from VA to CA in June 2015. There is also a contractor and a relocation company involved, however, it is Starway whom is responsible for damaging my vehicle. My relocation company and the contractor told me that Starway had put my vehicle in storage, but were unable to identify where that was, after I finished moving and went to pick it up. As it turned out, my car was being repaired 30+ miles from the drop off location due to damage that the Starway driver had created on the rear end of my car.
Beware this company. I’ve seen them write snarky responses online to reviews in «defense» of their actions, however, there is absolutely nothing good they could communicate in defense of the experience I have had while my car was missing and getting damaged. I will never know what actually happened to my car and would NOT choose this company ever again to be responsible with my automobile.

This is the worst company on the face of the earth. They are extremely rude, and my car was supposed to be delivered over a week ago, and it is still not delivered. When I was speaking with the lady about why my car has been pushed back over a week, she stated «if you’re just complaining to me, I don’t have time for this crap». The only reason this company is still in business is because other trucking companies subcontract to them. I will do everything in my power to make sure as much information about this horrible company gets out online. No one should ever have to go through what I have gone through to get my car (and I haven’t even gotten it yet!) and I wouldn’t be surprised if it has damage when I receive it. When they took my car from you to load it onto the truck, they drove it like they had no care in the world. My car is a brand-​new Lexus, and they were treating it like it was some beater.

My BMW was transported by Starway Logistic. The drivers hooked the suspension components to tie the car down. They severely bent the suspension in doing this. The car is not drivable. They will accept no responsibility for the damage.
The tow truck driver I had to contact to get my car to the shop clearly stated that BMWs (and many other european cars) should never be tied down by hooking the suspension. My shop confirmed the diagnosis. I have not yet received the estimate for the damage.
Starway refuses to even discuss the cost of repairs and are very dismissive of their responsibility going so far as to defend the practice that caused the damage.
I would never use them again and would not recommend going through Direct Express Auto Transport as they are the ones that arranged the transport.
