Another beautiful Pennsylvania state park packed with history. Greenwood Furnace has a lot to offer families including a really nice beach with a small lake swimming area(gets pretty busy on the weekends). Greenwood Furnace also offers a beautiful Park Headquarters that has some neat CCC displays as well as animal info, a gift shop etc. The park also offers a small loop campground that boasts both tent and RV campsites. Overall a cool park to take the family on a day or weekend trip.

Greenwood Furnace is a 423 acre State Park in Huntington County, about 20 minutes south of State College, PA. It features fishing, hunting, camping, a 6 acre lake, miles of hiking trails and some historic iron working buildings. It was voted one of PA’s top 20 must-see-parks a few years back and we finally made the journey up to visit. We rented a non-electric camping site(equipped with lantern holder, picnic table and ample shade) for 27/per night. We had a blast with the kids going fishing, visiting the blacksmith shop, climbling on the old dis-used iron furnaces, looking for frogs, worms, crayfish, etc. The best part is the campfire, and cooking all our food(hashbrowns, hotdogs, eggs, smores) There is a mountain fed lake that has some(cool) swimming as well as a beach and a nearby playground. Quite time is between 9pm &8am. Download the Free state park mobile app:
