The doctor was fine
But when I went to call for another appointment for my CDK kitty the receptionist Acted like I was asking her where the toilet paper was at wal mart .
No kindness in her voice and after I said thank you for booking my appointment I got an uh huh and she hung up.
What kind of customer service is that from an animal hospital where people take their furry lil dying children for meds. I was already upset and crying due to the fact my fur baby is getting sicker. Then I get mrs B$$$tch on the phone.
Petsmart corporate needs to call their own people and do surprise calls on them. That gal needs fired.

Horrible, horrible appt. The vet and asst. Are VERY disorganized & did not have any communications w/​each other as they made me and my dog wait for a long time. apart! I saw through the window of the office as my dog was barking and howling for me for 30+mins while they did NOTHING! She was
Hooked onto the side of the exam table, scared and in pain as they made her wait,& wait,& wait! Next time if this ever happens, i will walk right into the back room and retrieve my poor dog! They also said they needed to do a certain eye-​pressure test, (which they did not do),& tried to charge me for it… when earlier, the asst. Mentioned to me that the machine was broken! They are sooo disorganized, and do NOT communicate with the doctors, I definitely feel as if it is dangerous! i will NOT ever go back!

When I moved here, I didn’t know anyone here and my family is a long plane ride away, I was lonely so I adopted a cat. She is very important to me. I have taken her to other veterinarians, (even other Banfields) and have left feeling like the staff treated me as unintelligent or a burden as I required time to ask questions so going to the vet has become a very stressful situation for both me and my cat. So I was hesitant to take my cat in. I have been to this location several times and I really appreciate the staff there. Maria has been very kind to me and has taken the time to help me get several appointments around my rather difficult schedule.
On our most recent visit, they were particularly kind to me. My cat has poor dentition and needs dental cleanings. The last time we had her teeth cleaned (at another clinic) it ended with both of her front legs shaved and bruised. It was very traumatic for both of us and I felt like my questions were brushed off. I was very nervous when I dropped her off, however the staff was wonderful, friendly and efficient (I was even early to work). The veterinarian, Dr Rosenberg, called me before they put her under and asked and answered my questions. She was informative and she had specifics about my cat’s personality as well as her medical history. By the time she actually when into her procedure, I felt more comfortable. I appreciate that they called me to let me know how she was doing. When I went to pick her up, it was almost closing but Maria was friendly and kind and I did not feel like I was being pushed out the door. Dr Rosenberg again took the time to talk to me, to give me information and answer my questions. My cat came home looking like herself (not shaved) and was comfortable enough to play later that night. I was so impressed! Thank you for taking care of my little Friend!

So far we’ve been to the Banfield Pet Hospital a half dozen times to get a series of shots for a puppy they’re very kind very friendly. the appointment time goes by quickly and they are knowledgeable and helped us out a lot of good advice

The receptionists at this hospital have been nothing but wonderful every time I come to buy flea product. I haven’t seen the vet, nor do I think I will but the front desk is the type of front desk that I wish I had when I managed the Banfield in Monrovia. Top notch!

WISH I COULD GIVE IT NO STARS!
They have the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. They do not care about you or your pet, and once they get their money they will treat you like shit.
The «vet» is a typical grimy sales person and will try to sell you as much crap as possible that has nothing to do with your pet’s needs. They give mixed information… none of their employees are on the same page.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! Seriously HORRIBLE!

This is one of many Banfield pet hospitals I’ve been to and this one by far has the best of staff. They walk you through what your pets issues are honest about what you need to do (monetary-​wise) to keep your pet healthy. They don’t try to oversell you on products and prescriptive drugs, unlike other Banfield hospitals I’ve been too.

This has been BY FAR the worst experience I have had with any of my animals. I will start with the positive first: The staff (receptionist) was very friendly. That’s the end of that.
Abus, my German Shepherd is a difficult puppy– I am the first to admit it. He is anxious around strangers and doesn’t love it when people touch him, much less prod him around his face, ears, etc. He had one testicle that did not descend, so the vet needed to exam his stomach to try and locate it before the actual surgery. That being said, I was fully expecting the veterinarian to have to sedate him in order to exam his stomach area before the surgery. Before any kind of exam was done, they had me wait for over an hour before the vet was able to come in to look at him. I was peeved, but not angry. They then let me know that my insurance was not going to cover the full neuter — also fully expecting that — but quoted me AT MOST a $ 300.00 procedure. Again, not a problem, I was fully prepared for that.
Albus had an abdominal cryptorichid neuter surgery done here (he had one testicle that had not descended, so they had to cut into his stomach to retrieve it.) I dropped Albus off on May 30^th at 7:00 AM. At 11:00 AM they called me to tell me they could not proceed because Albus was not allowing them to sedate him– 4 hours after I had left him. They said they would be in contact with me. I called an hour later to see how it was going, and they let me know that they were able to sedate him and that the surgery was underway.
I went to pick him up, and the veterinarian let me know that there would be «bleeders» or bruises under his skin, so not to be alarmed at the amount of terrible bruising that my dog had, and would have during his healing process. When I got him, he had urinated and defecated all over himself, and it seemed he had been sitting in it for quite some time. A very nice staff person did the best he could to clean it WHEN I PICKED HIM UP, some hours after the procedure.
The final cost of the surgery was about $ 600, twice as much as I was expecting, which I paid happily because I wanted my dog to be home, safe and calm. The vet let me know they had done internal stitches, which would be a safer bet. She let me know that if possible, to place a warm pad on Albus’s stomach to relieve the pain. Albus would not let me, or anyone else, near his stomach and became VERY defensive if touched. I didn’t worry because the vet told me it would be tender, on top of the fact that Albus is a bit anxious.
5 days after his surgery, Albus started bleeding EVERYWHERE. He was laying down, stood up, and then blood started to pour out of him. It was later in the evening, and Banfield was already closed, so I started frantically calling pet hospitals near me. Dr. Kim of JYK Veterinary Clinic in Huntington Beach off Warner took Albus in at 8:00 PM. He called me to let me know that he would have to cut into Albus’s stomach because the bleeding was internal. He gave me updates every few hours throughout the night, and stayed with Albus all the way until 6:00 the next morning. When I went to pick Albus up, Dr. Kim let me know a few things:
1.) Albus was internally bleeding from the surgery done at Banfield.
2.) The stitches caused an infection in his abdomen.
My 8 month old puppy had to be cut open TWICE IN LESS THAN ONE WEEK for something that should have been a one-​time fix. I left Dr. Kim’s office with two new antibiotics (and now a third for the infection) and a $ 1400.00 bill for the procedure, which I was happy to pay knowing Albus was going to be okay. He is on a crazy pill cocktail of antibiotics, pain medicine, and anti-​inflamatories, just to rectify the bad neuter job.
I called Banfield to explain the situation and requested they cancel my insurance, at the time I didn’t request any penalties be paid by Banfield, or for the surgery I had to get done for Albus as a result of their botched neuter. They informed me that there would be an exit fee of about $ 1000.00, which was obviously not going to happen. They then directed me to call the manager at Huntington, Susan. I have since called many times, and Susan either has not been there or is dodging my calls. She is also not returning my calls. I am looking into perusing legal action against Banfield. I am looking into not only cancelling, but now getting them to pay all vet fees I had to cover because of the internal bleeding and infection.
Since Dr. Kim performed surgery on Albus, he was immediately better. 3 days after the surgery, and he was back to his normal self. He let’s me get near his stitches to apply the warm pad no problem. The source for all of his PTSD around his stomach was that he was in terrible pain and bleeding. Dr. Kim fixed him right up.
PLEASE PET PARENTS. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NEVER EVER EVER SEND YOUR PET TO ANY BANFIELD EVER. It will be the worst decision you will ever make for your animal.

I like to be objective and fair, and to that end, I will start with compliments… the techs/​assistants are very kind and helpful, and I believe they earnestly love animals and care for our pets.
This used to be a great place, and I’ve watched changes take place over the past couple of years that are pretty unsettling. They have been going through a period where they cannot keep doctors, and after some checking around, I know why. Corporate profit mongering. Everything is about sales, sales, sales… and the truly committed doctors won’t sell out and they move on. I’ve seen this all along the way, having had the ‘wellness plan’ for two years now. To varying degrees, each ‘covered’ visit is riddled with sales pressure, almost a desperation to sell you something unnecessary before you leave. At times, they word things to tug at your heart strings for your pet, to the point in my case I end up spending money ‘just in case’.
Even more disturbing is the fact that several staff members have acknowledged that this is their corporate structure, that they can’t keep the honest, reputable vets, with the most recent one actually telling be ‘I felt like I sold my soul by coming here’.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was this past weekend when I took my dog in with an unknown type injury… I believed it was not a serious or debilitating injury, but I knew he was in pain and just needed peace of mind from a professional. When I was checking him in, I described the circumstances, and before she even laid a hand or an I on my dog, she started pitching an upgrade to a higher level of ‘plan’ that would include blood and x-​rays for only $ 20 more per month… with three months left on my existing plan. I declined, and asked her to start by at least examining my dog and seeing if anything indicated the need for blood or x-​rays.
I left my dog there for the day, and finally got a call about 8 hours later… she could not find any obvious injuries, he had likely over-​exerted himself playing rough, and was just pretty sore. She still had the audacity to push x-​rays ‘just in case’. I declined, and she told me – not asked me-​that she was ‘sending him home with three medications’, two weeks worth. After some in-​depth discussion, we agreed that it was not actually necessary, and I agreed to a single pain injection and one med to take home, one weeks worth.
When I arrived to pick him up, I was surprised at the amount of the bill. I questioned it, especially since they were ‘sending home’ two weeks worth of two medications, which is not what we discussed. I took the doctor aside out of respect for other customers and expressed my opinions. She tried to tell me that she was not motivated by sales, that everything she recommended was a medical necessity. I finally agreed to take both meds for one week just to get out of there.
The important thing is that my dog was medicated for a couple of days, as I told the doctor would happen, and he’s fit as a fiddle. I’m grateful to have had his pain relieved for the couple of days, but two weeks on three medications was definitely overkill.
All this to say that I will be keeping my plan for its final three months, only to avoid dealing with the corporate folks that get you on the phone if you are one day late with a payment, and will spend whatever time it takes to locate the original doctors he had there, no doubt in their own practice somewhere.

I always advocate for pet parents to enroll their furbabies at banfield. This current location has a decent staff (there is the occasional rudeness and sloppiness) at this location but that occurs from time to time.
I love that they follow up with you, after a simple routine check up, the next day. It feels personal and reassures me that I can contact them for any questions. And believe me I have! I am such a paranoid cat mommy it is ridiculous.
The biggest issue I had was after my cat received her shots. She was brought back to me in her carrier ready to go. whe I got home I discovered that both of her hind legs had been bandaged (due to the shots I assumed) but it took me by suprise since it WAS NOT communicated to me. I also noticed there was a needle in the carrier! I should have complained or made a big deal, but this the ONLY incident I have had.
Everything else has been lovely and just recently I walked in to get my cats nails trimmed (pedicures as they call it!) and they were in surgery from what the gentleman at the front desk told me. He was nice enough to ask, even though I said I could come back another day. They trimmed her nails under 10 minutes. I was grateful and so were my roommates’ arms!
I go back here often since it the closest one to my current apartment. It’s located in a very nice area so I’m not discouraged to go!

Completely agree with a previous reviewer. This place is like an HMO for animals. Time is money to them. We’ve never waited less than an hour, and they’ve rarely given us more than 10 minutes of their time. They order medications and testing at the mere mention of a scratch on our dog’s skin. The receptionists are rude– I dread even making a phone call to this place much less talking with them in person. The newest vet, Dr. W, was very condescending with us. Their previous vets, Dr. K and Dr. A, have peaced out. When I tried asking the receptionist why, he was very vague. Our fur kid deserves better, and so does yours. Don’t go here.

HIGHLY PEEVED — this time. Normally you get 5 stars, but this past weekend when you didn’t have enough people on staff and you give preference to people coming in for non-​emergencies and tell your plan holder that he has to go somewhere else to get service because you have no room…
I say… why am I paying on time each month for a wellness plan that should help take care of my dog Sophie, when you tell me I have to go somewhere else because you’re booked… get some more people in.
I paid $ 437.00 this weekend for something that would have taken you 30 minutes or less to diagnose and treat and now my dog is spouting diarrhea every once in a while like she never has before and has dropped 1.2lbs in weight since Sunday and now I am worried and will be bringing her back in.
Am hoping by the time that I do that you have hired enough people to help out because I dislike greatly having to spend money where I shouldn’t have to.
Granted I’d do it because she’s my dog and I love her dearly, but if it’s not necessary because I am paying for a plan, then I’d rather not have to do it.
I believe Banfield should compensate me for my having to go elsewhere because you didn’t have enough people onboard to serve your customers and because you chose not to take an emergency case over others that easily could have waited longer.

Wellness plan is great, and the staff is amazing :)

Just an update. I spoke with Mary, the interim manager at the clinic, and she said she’d take care of the outstanding bill/​cancel the membership etc. because of our horrible experience.
I was pretty surprised when we got a collection letter for the balance and membership.
When I called back to talk to her, she had quit and there was a new interim manager. Told her all about it. She said she’d take care of it.
Got another collection letter.
Called the corporate office and they had no idea what I was talking about.
Don’t waste your money. Or your credit. Or more importantly, your beloved pet.

First reading reviews about this banfield i was skeptical, but it is exceptionally well. Very kind and genuine souls who do care for your pets. They are staffed and I haven’t had any problems with them. I’ve been with them for over a year with my shiba inu. Much better than the one in tustin. Don’t let the rating frighten you, I feel like this place has only had bad reviews, even though it is a very welcoming and dependable banfield.

Puppy Plan is a godsend and Banfield has never failed to accomodate and tend to the little problems that puppies have in a a timely and professional manner.

After seeing some of the reviews here I was skeptical to take my dog in, but because I was afraid my dog had ringworm, I felt an urgent need to get in, which was a Saturday. I called and asked if they had any appointments available for that day and once they learned that I was suspicious of ringworm, the girl took the time to get us in there the same day.
We get there and they graciously welcomed us in even though they were set to close shortly after. They were very detailed and I felt they were fair in their judgments. To save us money they said that from their experience it didn’t appear to be ringworm and if we wanted to move forward with expensive tests we could, but really felt it wasn’t necessary.
I then took my cat in a few days later and felt the same hospitality with different employees. I felt they really cared and were extremely helpful.
I will continue going back and will refer other people to them as well.

So far so good.
I see that this place is getting bad ratings but hear me out– the people that work in the Petsmart store = questionable. I showed up before the store opened and you have to ring the doorbell to get into the Banfield area. The guy at the door = rude. The vet who helped me at Banfield = helpful!
Cute blonde — she showed me how to use all the medications/​etc I needed for my dog. She made sure I was up to date and everything was in the system correctly. Flexible appointments in the morning before work!

Worst service!!! If you love your pet, go somewhere else. This place is like the HMO of vet care. The vet techs are uneducated, rude, crass, and unprofessional. The veterinarians are over-​booked and do not have enough time to administer proper care. The rooms are always dirty and you wait FOREVER. I signed my pup up for the wellness plan and have since decided to lose out on all the money I spent, so my furbaby can receive better care elsewhere! There are a TON of vets on Beach blvd who provide a 1,000 times better care. Avoid Banfield like the plague!!!

First off, I went here because the Tustin Park Avenue location was a joke. I came in for Sadie’s second round of vaccinations. They charged me $ 50 for a visit on top her vaccinations. The doctor was nice and seemed really thorough but when it came to finally injecting her, she wasn’t even looking how far deep the needle was going in. She was more concerned about holding the dog in place, instead of asking the nurse or me to assist her in that. Sadie was in so much pain and the bill came out to be $ 116… If I have known that she was going to charge an office visit on top of her vaccinations, I would have just taken her somewhere else that just offers vaccinations. period.
