Hertz Rent A Car

Terrible customer service. I made reservations the day before I went to pick up a car. They asked my age and when they found out I was 22 they said there is an extra $ 27 a day fee required by law to charge if under the age of 25… I needed a car for two weeks so that made my rental price go from $ 400 to $ 800. I asked who I’m assuming was a manager if he could give me any discount on the rental and that I know the $ 27 fee isn’t a law being that Enterprise charges $ 10 for being under 25 a block away from them.
He got extremely rude and started yelling at me that I was calling him a liar. (I said I was sure he could discount the car in someway) I was told no he then tossed my drivers license and credit card at me and said to get out of his store now.
I’ve never been treated like this before. I’m really disappointed that Hertz allows people like this to run a store. I was about to pay your company a good amount, so happy to give Enterprise my business instead.

Tried to book for 2 days rental car next Tuesday. The guy helping seemed careless and freaking lazy to check out other Hertz locations if I can drop off my car on the eve-​thanks giving night to prevent extra day charge since they are closed on Thurs. every questions I ask that dude was like I don’t know I’m not sure… Don’t you even bother to check and help instead of throwing off me unresponsive manner. Just called Enterprise down the street and they work it out for me. Pick up near my house location at Enterprise on Beach and the guy nicely enough to to arrange me dropping off at John Wayne airport. I greatly appreciate your professional trained employee Enterprise.
To Hertz: either you company treat your employee so badly that one of them is just lazy to fully operate the business or you are suck training your employees. LEARN BASIC BUSINESS SKILL: the WORTH of MOUTH as strongest part of marketing and ATTITUDE MATTERS.
From now on whenever I go, I go with enterprise because they are so helpful and convenient for my business.

Ok this small Hertz office is SO AWESOME. When all others said sorry we are almost closed — the guys here said «come on down» and we will get you a car. Don’t know their names but they are great guys. We got there at 5:59 –6:00 (closing time) And we got a car in less than 10 minutes!!! LOVE IT!!!

Just returned our rental car today… no problems — at all! This is the second time I’ve rented a car from this location on Beach Blvd. in the last 3 months and the staff has always been friendly, courteous and helpful! They’ve had the best rates for the vehicles we were interested in and even offered a fee upgrade each time, although we didn’t need it — (we needed a specific car for our needs both times and stuck with it; a Chevrolet Impala with the LARGEST trunk for all the luggage we had!). And… we got 31.8 miles per gallon driving from here to Oklahoma!
A big plus — we only had to stop for fuel 3 times each way! Anyway… great service all the way around — thanks Hertz! We’ll always rent from these guys!

This place is one of the few that customer service sucks! The customer service representatives here are rude and not knowledgeable at all. They have an attitude and they act like they are doing you a favor, by helping you book a vehicle. This place definitely needs new management and new properly train personnel.

oh heck to the no, never again. I was in an auto accident and my insurance sent me to Hertz on the Honda Auto property. First of all I get there and only one person is there to help customers and he really did not care about much, did not take time to check rental car over and stated that Hertz does not care about the state of it’s vehicles, then couple days later the breaks start to squeak on said vehicle, so I call and all person on phone can say is… tell person when you hand in vehicle, fool I just was in an accident I am not driving a car with breaks that squeak jerk. So I call 800 number for Hertz and they send me to different local where I was given another vehicle and was told because I was inconvenienced there would be no fuel charge, of course he did Not put that in writing so I was charged at the end, along with getting insulted by their customer service rep on phone who basically called me a liar. Oh and the replacement car had plates with tags that had expired in Feb 2015 and had not been replaced, I had vehicle in May. Good going Hertz way to keep fleet of vehicles up to date. Never ever again period

This place has a great location and Dave the manager is especially courteous professional and the cars are well taken care of FOUR STAR QUALITY SERVICE

Go back to February… So i reserved a (corolla) car for my trip on line. The price on line was $ 104.49. When i went to pick up, they didnt have the car we chose on the lot. So the sales rep, suggested that I go with the Camry for ten dollars more per day, which I was fine with since I waited 45 minutes just to pick up my rental and now I am behind my schedule. when we went inside to finalize everything, she said the total would be $ 190 and some change. I asked if that is on top of the $ 104.49 that I already paid on line, her answer was no… we will charge your credit card the difference when you return it on monday assuming that it comes back with a full tank of gas.
Monday comes, I return the vehicle hours before the due time along with a full tank of gas.
A month later, i was looking at the charges that were made on my credit card. I see that there was a charge for $ 104.49 (the reservation i made on line) and another charge for $ 190.
Can someone tell me what went wrong here? I am paying $ 294 for a camry that was rented for 3 days. Never have I paid that much for a 3 day rental.
I therefore, called this office and asked why there was 2 charges, the representative said that it was a mistake and they will refund the $ 104.49 and that it will take about 2 – 3 days.
A month and a half passes by and no refund was issued to my credit card. I then call my credit card co. and repute the charge.
A month later, i get a bill for the $ 104.49 in the mail from Hertz. I call the 800 number and told them the whole story. Not once did I get an apology from the representative about the situation. She stated since i reputed the charges with my credit card co. that I still have to pay for that amount. I repeatedly told her that I paid the $ 194, the total that I owed according to the sales rep when I picked up and dropped off my rental to. and a refund will be issued to my credit card for the 104.49. After a few minutes on hold, We resolved NOTHING, according to Hertz, I still owe the $ 104.49… for what reason? I am still confused.
Hertz lost a customer today, along with the hundreds of reservations we make at my office. We will no longer step foot into a Hertz establishment, or even think about renting from them. As an Operations Manager, I believe this company has poor customer service. Take your business elsewhere…

Had to rent a vehicle while my car was being repaired. Everyone at the location was very friendly and accomodating.

Prompt pick up from my car dealer however there were pretty much no cars available when I arrived at hertz… kinda wish they would have told me this BEFORE picking me up. The gentleman who picked me up was very friendly, professional and patient however the chaotic, overcrowded office was just too stressful for me… so I left…

Really friendly staff, very professional. The gentleman who worked at Hertz gave us a really good deal and was willing to accommodate us. This was the least stressful experience I’ve ever had in renting a car. Thanks hertz!

I rent from here often and yes, the service is a bit slow. The poor guys who work there are always slammed with people in the office AND the phone ringing off the hook. They need to hire more people.
The reason I am reviewing it is so hopefully the employee I am going to write about gets recognized by his managers. The employee’s name is Joseph Riad. He is amazing.
I had reserved a car and went to pick it up on ¹¹⁄₂₄ at 5:00. They were pretty busy. Joseph was being yelled at by some lunatic lady about something that was not his fault. She read online that some cars have Sirius radio, however, she did not reserve that class of car. She reserved a compact car and was yelling at Joseph. He was calmly telling her that she did not reserve that class of car. At one point she even threw her papers in his face. Instead of getting mad, he told her that the Sirius radio was an option (she insisted it was standard) and that she wanted it. Joseph was so calm. He told her he was going to have to pass it along to his manager. Not once did he yell or lose his cool with that crazy lunatic lady.
When he took me around to check out the cars, I mentioned what a b**ch she was and how rude. He smiled and said, «My manager will deal with her:» I was impressed that he, at no point, talked bad about her.
Kudos to Joseph for being an awesome customer service employee! Great job Hertz on employee a guy with class.

My only complaint about this place is that it’s ALWAYS slow. I always end up waiting 30 minutes at a minimum, even with a prepaid reservation in tow.
I also learned the hard way that do NOT offer shuttle service on the weekends. Thinking that they did, I was left stranded after returning my car. Luckly I had cash to take the bus, but that ended up taking a lot longer than expected.
Besides that, I’ve never had any issues with their cars. I usually end up getting a car slightly better than the one I reserve, which is nice.

If I could give «0» stars I would. By far the worst customer service ever! Asked to speak to manager, explained my frustration and how unhappy I was. «Dave» offered no solution.

I waited 30 minutes just to get a car. I called two days before for a SUV and they said it would be there on Monday. I waited 30 for them to tell me they only have passinger cars here. Stupid people. Stay away. Don’t waist your time here.

Rented a car for a little over a week and was able to get a brand new vehicle for less than $ 20 a day. What I was not told until my card was swiped, however, was that $ 200 would also be withdrawn as a deposit. I was able to get it back after I returned the car, but because I was a little tight on money at the time, it would have been nice to have known that before charging my card.
Customer service was awful. The employees couldn’t find my reservation every single time I called, even after I gave information about the car I was renting. They were also very rude whenever I visited their office. It took them almost 15 minutes to assist me, and it wasn’t even busy! The only time they actually worked quickly was when there were a lot of people in the waiting room, so maybe you should come at a time when they’re really busy so you can actually be helped. Definitely only two stars for their low price and new car.

This far very disappointed and I haven’t even been checked in yet. My insurance company has an agreement with Hertz, otherwise I’d be out the door already. I waited in hold for 16 minutes before decided to just get dropped off. Horrible mistake on my part. Thirty minutes later I finally got waited on.
I have to say that part was quick, but the vehicle wasn’t driver ready. It had not been cleaned yet and they wanted me to wait as they prepared to have a porter go vacuum it and touch up the interior. I took the car as is since I did not want to wait any longer. I would hope this complaint grabs their attention and I’ll update it if it does. This is not the way to treat a customer. Unprepared, under staffed, and no customer service.

I totally agree with ALL the other reviewers. This place is as awful, small & dirty as the cars they rent! I was miserable the second we arrived. The parking lot is very small & was filled with only very small compact cars. I instantly knew we weren’t getting anything else. I would’ve left but this place is contracted with HB Chrysler dealership down the street and had to get the rental here while I had a warranty repair due to a factory defect. Plus we had to get to work and it was too late to try to go anywhere else by that time.
I was even more miserable once we got the car! I drive a large luxury sedan w/​a Hemi. Needless to say I was not fitted with anything remotely comparable. This even occurred despite Chrysler specifically ordering us a four-​door sedan (& it sounds like they do have ONE here, which was somewhere hidden, but this rathole gave us some poor excuse why we couldn’t have it.) And even though they just brought it back from the car wash right next door, the battery operated child’s sized car was disgustingly filthy & smelled terribly like bad cheap chemical air freshener which took days to air out after we located the chemical soaked paper cards tossed throughout the car. The car had large miscellaneous sized and colored stains all over the cloth seats and interior. And of course one of the large brownish colored circular stains was right on the driver’s seat.
We called the dealership several times a day, desperate to get our own car back. My husband & I have never been SO miserable in a rental. Needless to say returning the car was a nightmare too.
Rent here at your own risk! If you’re desperate for a deal, there are plenty of other better ways to save & get a clean acceptable car rental elsewhere! Based on what I saw they were charging the dealership, it sure doesn’t appear that at the very least anyone is even saving money for the disgust bucket death traps they’re renting out here as cars.

They don’t even deserve one star. Very rude customer service. First off my car I got was a Camry and it was filthy. Someone smoked In it and instead of cleaning the car they just stuck air fresheners in the vents which left the car with an even worse smell that I couldn’t get rid of. Not to mention someone had spilt sticky soda all over. I would never use another hertz just off this experience. Pay a little more and go else where. Unless you’re a dirtbag. If you’re a dirtbag then you’ll be in heaven with this place.
The customer service is not good. Just everyone there is very rude if you ask questions. Besides this Asian girl. She’s really nice and will go out of her way to make you happy. If your stuck with this place ask for the pretty Asian girl.

Stay away from this location at all costs. Will be happy to pay the premium with enterprise next time.
Walked in the door at 5:18pm with a reservation for 5:30pm figured this would take 15−30min. didn’t even start paperwork until after 5:40pm. Guy at the counter was a total jerk and looked like he could use some sleep, actually all the employees I had interactions with looked like they could all use some sleep everyone was taking their time doing everything from answering phone calls to acknowledging someone had walked in. I have had better interactions at mc donalds and local recycling centers.
I then had to wait for the car which was located at some remote location, makes sense since this location has about 5 total parking spots. Waited until after 6pm to have a car. Get into the car to drive away finely and the break light wont turn off, traction control light is on while in park and drive, attempted setting and releasing the parking break a few times which never fixed the issue. Put the car into drive and rolled out of the parking spot and tapped the brake to make sure they worked and get feel for the car, and to my total shock the light tap on the brake resulted in violent sudden break lockup as if I had both feet planted into the break. Needless to say I threw it back in park before ever leaving the parking spot and headed back inside.
Management proceeded to tell me there was nothing wrong with the car and that the brake light on the dash was due to known factory defect but that the car was safe to drive. After explaining to them that the traction control light was staying on and the concern about the brakes they said they would put me in a different car.
I got to wait another 25min for the other car to be «washed» which included no water and a vacuum sitting in the car for 10min in the on position when no one was near the car followed by someone vacuuming the floor in the front seat for about 2min and then turning the car over to me. lucky for them it was night.
When I got in the car the next morning I noticed there is hair all over both front seats and the car is genuinely dirty inside. and thanks to the recent rain I have also found that the windshield wipers need replaced because they are useless. Theres also some sort of oil/​residue on the bottom section in the middle of the windshield. nice job cleaning the car team.
I was lucky enough to see how a few other customers were treated a well and was not impressed, one poor guy was dropped off by a dealer and got to sit around nearly 30min before they even bothered to help him get started with his rental, poor guy.
Tips for Hertz.
— get your employees some 4hour shots or redbull or something.
— customer service 101 classes
— send your employees to a full service carwash and have them watch how you properly clean a car.
— you have a few employees whole could clearly care less about anything except getting a paycheck, get rid of them.
— when people are waiting to be helped at least you could do is acknolege they walked into the room and let them know about how long they might be waiting.
