Jack’s Beach Concession

I did not enjoy my experience here. Sure there is affordable prices on food but the customer service and attitudes of the staff did not make my vacation experience on the beach.

This place is the worst! If you want crappy bikes, rude service and inedible food, than by all means go here. If you want something even a little bit better, avoid this place like the plague. My family and I went there on a recommendation and I don’t know what this person was thinking. First of all, the guy working there Dustin, I think he’s the owner, couldn’t have been more of a jerk. He was short with us, rude and basically acted like he was doing us a favor by renting to us. My wife went to get something for the kids to eat and it was horrible. This place was a black mark on an otherwise decent vacation. If I could give them negative stars I would, don’t go here under any circumstance.

What an experience! My husband and I were recently in HB on a business trip. One morning we went for a run along the beach and passed by this establishment. We asked about bike rentals for the next (early) morning before they open. The gentleman was so helpful and let me know that he would be there already and happy to accommodate. From our very first experience through the rental the next morning we felt like he was in it to give us the experience. I had the best time and feel like my experience would have been very different were it not for the customer service. Thank you, Jack’s! After seeing the pictures and reading past reviews, I’m kinda bummed I didn’t partake in the snacks.

So much fun!!! Rented four bikes and a tandem — had a blast!!! Popsicles afterward! Jack was so great!!! :)

This place is so awesome ! The service was so great and the people were so nice! I will definitely be back! Keep up the good work! AMAZING!

Used to come here 40 years ago to play volleyball swim etc.
Told the wife after reading Unilocal we gotta go back and see if the
strips are the same… they were! Family run, nice girl at the counter
and was able to park at the meter for very little cost. Give it a try.

Cleanest of all the Huntington Beach concession stands. Decent soft serve as well. plenty of seating.

Totally great people and service in there and good price. .only 4 stars for not having any vegan burgers. …Boca please! Hits the entire veggie community.
Also parking could be bad on a busy day expensive

The guy here was very helpful and really nice. The bike rentals for a 2-​seat bike run around $ 16 for an hour, not shabby! And, the guy was very accommodating… I will definitely come back the next time I’m at Huntington Beach. Also, they give you an extra fifteen min or so so that u can get setup on your bike or w/​e. This bike rental is the perfect date idea for a first date or for visitors… I give it a 5 stars!

TWO WORDS: BEACH. FOOD.
I got an order of chili cheese fries (around $ 4.50) and the portion was big enough to get this 5’1 onehundred and something pounds young lady full and content! =) Great snack/​lunch. A bed of hot crispy french fries topped with melted cheese mixed with small chunks of beef and chili beans. Delicious! I would totally get this again next time I spend the day at the beach again.
Only reason I knocked off a star was because they did not have mustard for my boyfriend’s corndog. His reaction made me thought for a second he was gonna completely tell off the poor little high school cashier. But really now… jokes aside, how can you freaking run out of a condiment as popular and common as mustard???
NOTE: be sure to check in BEFORE you order so you can get a FREE order of cheese strips. From the looks of the pictures posted here, the cheese strips is really just tortilla chips topped with shredded cheese? Either way… free is free. Don’t make the mistake like me and check in AFTER I placed my order. =(They owe me some cheese strips now, damnit.

This place is great, family owned and operated. Great Grandpa started Dwight’s and the the family opened Jack’s. The menus are very similar and the one thing that is very much the same are the world famous strips and cheese. If you have not had them yet you are missing out. My dad took me here as a kid, I take my kids here and I’m sure my kids will bring their family and friends here too! FIVE STARS because the food is great, the people are great and because the history is great!

I write reviews barely so if I do you’ve either really impressed me or pissed me off. The latter applies here.
I would give this place zero stars if possible. I paid $ 15 dollars for parking, then walked over to rent bikes here. They said on Unilocal they they’re open but apparently weren’t.
That’s okay that they’re closed. But the idiot employee who was in fact on the premises started talking sarcastically and condescendingly. «Oh, did I ruin your day?» Blah blah… As he goes on. That was a mistake as he soon learned.
If you’re open. Good. If you don’t know how to report your business hours correctly on Unilocal hire someone with the intelligence to do so. And lastly keep minimum wage earning idiotic attitude to yourself. As I see it, you’re good for hosing down the concrete, which you were doing, and nothing more.
Stay away and go down the beach to Dwight’s. Much better service.

I always come here to rent a board before I go engage in intentional drowning, aka surfing (I’m not very good at it but I enjoy it).
The dude behind the counter, its usually the same dude since i’ve gone there, is pretty cool. He’s cool about the hours if you go over slightly on the hourly rental. I love the location because I’m always attacking the beach from around here so if even I need anything, I go get it at Jacks.

This place is awesome! I was going to check out a kahuna stick but instead purchased it. The best feeling ever! I’ve been looking for a Kahuna stick and they were cool selling to me. Love it! They made my week! The guy’s were super chill too! Thanks! :)

Good chicken and the strips were great and cheap!

This review would’ve been a lot lower if it wasn’t for the food and the plesant service I received while renting a bike cruiser. I’ve been to Jack’s twice. The first time to rent a beach cruiser. When I came, it was $ 7/​hr to rent a beach cruiser but they’re very lenient on the time. I believe we got back 20 minutes after an hour and the guy was cool with it.
The second time I came here was to grab a bite to eat after a day of tanning. My boyfriend and I placed our orders and the girl behind the counter just couldn’t get it right. After confirming our orders for the 10^th time, we paid. When we got our food, they didn’t give us everything that we ordered. Apparently they took our orders wrong. No apology AND we had to get back in line again. Come on, it’s not so hard to take someone’s order I assume?
Besides that ordeal, the food was actually good. The chili cheese fries were amazing! The tuna melt sandwich was also good.

For a concession stand pretty f-​in fabulous, shaved ice, decent pizza, and good chili cheese fries at amazing prices. Only problem is the cheese they pile on is a heart attack waiting to happen…

Upfront I haven’t tried any of their food so I can’t comment on that. I have been renting from this place for the past several weekends. I feel so cooped up during the week at home I must get fresh air the first chance I get.
Jack’s has chill laid back staffers who are there as early as 8:00 am to get your rental ride on which is a huge plus for me! I get up at the crack of dawn so this works out for me every time.
$ 10 per hour for the beach cruiser and they don’t nit pick you if you are not back at the exact hour on the dot. Super cool people like I said.
You have the option to keep the bike the entire day for $ 30 which isn’t bad if you plan on spending the day at the beach. Parking on the street and feeding the meter is your best bet as well.

Originally I was going to give Jack’s a lower rating, because I’m pretty sure that the last time I came here it was only $ 7/​hr for a beach cruiser rental and now it’s gone up to $ 10/​hr!
However, I had the beach cruiser for almost 2 hours today and they only charged me for 1 hour. My actual time in/​out was around 11:45 am — 1:30 pm but I guess they rounded down/​up and put 12:00 pm — 1:00 pm instead. I’m happy about saving $ 10 so Jack’s — you can have 4 stars.
There’s also food and drinks, as well as other types of rentals available here.

This review is only for Jack’s French Fries, but they are really so wonderful, that I feel like a whole review can be based on them!
You’re at Huntington Beach and you’re tired from a day’s worth of surfing, body-​boarding, swimming, reading, or even from all those exercised calories from flipping whilst sun bathing… suddenly, you’re stomach starts to grumble. Main Street is only a walk away, but for some reason, when you think about trudging through the sand. it seems like miles.
BUT!!! don’t overlook Jack’s Stand so quickly! Located to the left of the pier (if you’re facing the ocean), it is über convenient for anyone who decides to hang out on the beach in that area. They carry a variety of beach food including pretzels, hot dogs, soda, ice-​cream, chicken tenders, and most importantly CHEESE FRIES.
These fries are seriously unlike any other. Made to order, these are crinkle cut fries with a handful of cheddar cheese sprinkled over it. Write after you retrieve them from the take-​out window you encounter a condiment stand where any amount of cold ketchup can be added to your piping hot fries. These fries are always served in a brown carry out tray and is put in two disposable fry containers. There is a reason for this!!!
Besides having an extra layer for the oil to soak through, it is recommended to take the top container and flip the fries into the second. After you do so, the first container will be free to be used as a cover for your cheese fries… accelerating the melting rate of your cheese.
Take this tray with your covered fries and take a short stroll back to your previous seating area. The cheese will be melted to perfection and will be ready to be enjoyed!
Four stars for convenience, delicious unhealthiness, and cheese + carb factor.
