We were excited to try this place, but disappointed overall. Here is what we had: Rolled beef tacos: beef was mushy, as if they were frozen, so I am guessing they were Steak and cheese quesadilla: Somehow this became Lupe’s special that I didn’t order and they added guacamole inside. They were going to add pico de gallo, but I said no. I thought they were giving me guac on the side, but I got home and the guac was inside, like Lupe’s special. I realized the guac and pico on the inside filled the quesadilla so much that they barely put any cheese or steak inside. But here is the biggest reason for the two stars: the guacamole. It’s the same guacamole they sell at Costco! I love Mexican restaurants for fresh guacamole and to find this was incredibly disappointing. I dislike finding an overabundance of onions or tomatoes, but finding only the pureed Costco guac with no fresh ingredients whatsoever left me puzzled. If you go here and order a quesadilla, make it clear you are NOT ordering Lupe’s special, even if you didn’t. You do not want this imitation guac replacing what you should have had.

I had the 7 Mares, seafood soup. 100% deliciouso. It was so good this update is just for the soup. Onions, cylantro and tortilla goes inside soup. Next time I will ask to add avocado inside. Last time I had this good was at 7 Mares restaurant in East LA in 2001. Veri gud señor.

This place is pretty good. Large portions and the food is flavorful. The hot carrots are $ 1.75 but you do get twice as much as you’d get somewhere selling em for $ 1. The spot is small so I suggest you get the food ToGo. Friendly helpful staff. Some of the food is missing things like Sour cream or guacamole or pico de gallo so make sure if you like that stuff to confirm that it’s in the dish you order.

The price of a BRC literally just went up by almost $ 2. Nothing different, tortilla still raw. Was $ 3.79 now $ 5.00 for nothing better/extra. My job relocated here about 2 years ago and I have been coming here regularly since they opened shortly after. Needless to say, today was the last…

Got the California burrito, it was bland and missing the guacamole, typically Cali burritos include guac. The fries were not crispy. Also the red and green salsas were just average. Also if you make it a combo it does not include a drink only beans and rice.

This is a small restaurant. The customer service was very friendly and helpful. They happily answered my questions regarding the menu. The tacos are huge. The price may seem high at about $ 3.00 each until you realize these tacos are about 3 times the size of a street taco. The Carne Asada taco contained hot, juicy and very flavorful beef. No fat, bones or gristle. The taco had guacamole and pico de gallo on top. My fish taco was also large with good flavored fish. I just found my new favorite taco place when at work in Huntington Beach.

Always come here for a quick burrito. It’s a drive for me, but worth it because I’m the area often. I usually get the California burrito. It’s a hit an miss some days you get lots of fries in your burrito, other times you get a fair amount of everything. Overall good place. Tonight I got the Lupes bowl.

Incredibly displeased. I ordered a shrimp plate based on the photo advertising a generous helping of shrimp. Once I got home, I opened my to go order which revealed about 7 rather small shrimp. Totally bummed, for the $ 11 I paid for this there easily should have been significantly more shrimp. I am hoping the management contacts me, as I would be willing to amend the review. I do like the food but I am totally bent on this experience.

Great local taco shop. Small and homey. Great food. Tv on the wall with football on. Great salsa

So this is the ONLY place within 5 miles that has decent rolled tacos(taquitos for you gringos). For anything better, you have to go deeper into westminter to a ghetto Alertos, Robertos, erto ertos type place. Lupe’s has beef, chicken and POTATO fillings! If you’ve never had the potato tacos/rolled tacos, try them. They are definitely tasty, AND you can tell yourself that you’re being healthy. They are also great alternatives for vegetarians to rotate in with bean and cheese burritos and quesadillas. On that note, I did have a bean and cheese today. They are HUGE. I mean can of corn thick. I havent seen bean and cheese burritos this thick since ’98. However, the beans… are reminiscent of canned beans. Completely blended and smooth and have almost a pasty texture. They taste ok. but not good enough to stand on their own in a burrito. My favorite part about this place is that they serve their hot sauce in bottles, just like the ghetto places. There a few, a green, a red, a habanero, and a tapatio. My pro tip: Get your rolled tacos with the guac on the side. The cheese melts on to the rolled tacos and the guac doesnt make them soggy.

Well this place is OK. Tonight I got stale chips on my beans. Despite the fact they claim not to have chips, WTF? The refried beans are disappointing due to the absence of any lard. Who the hell wants to eat firm beans, well not me. I go here only if SuperMex is closed and want more than just Tacos. If Tacos, just drive north about two miles and we all know Taqueria is the BOMB!

Delicious and good value. Loved the chicken rolled tacos. The filling was tasty and the tortilla was crispy, not greasy. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

I’ve been to Lupe’s Taco Shop a few times now. The original restaurant is located in San Diego and I’m sure they serve delicious food as the one located in Huntington Beach. It’s a totally casual order at the restaurant with limited seating inside and outside. The last time I had a take out order which included: (1) Chile Verde Burrito My huge burrito was served wet with the green sauce and the pork was so tender and delicious. A definite winner! (2) Carne Asada Burrito Hubby enjoyed his burrito and said it was fresh and yummy! (3) Shredded Beef Quesadilla The quesadilla was full of beef and was grilled to perfection! I’ve enjoyed my entrees at Lupe’s. I only wish they had a salsa bar and included chips with their to-go orders. But I would still return for their fresh, delish food and the friendly service. 4 Stars!

I’ve been to Lupes a few times… Last time I was there I came in during lunch to pick up my fish burrito. The girl at the cashier was very nice and knowledgeable. My burrito came out super fast. They have three types of sauces here: a red mild one, a green sauce, and their habanero sauce. I always go for their mild one because it already has a hint of heat in it. Their burrito is HUGE and I can only finish half of it at a time. Other portions here, including their fish tacos, are also very large. Their horchata is always a little too sweet for my liking but it is good and worth getting. The pricing is very cheap and affordable. They have very limited small inside area to dine and a few chairs and tables outside. I like it for mostly picking up. Overall, quick cheap and good food at a reasonable price.

They have menus all over their store, online, and their app but they always charge you more than their advertised price !! And when I spoke to management they denied knowing anything about it an did not offer to make it right with all the burritos I have bought over the course of a few weeks. An I ate a lot of burritos there. Also they do not serve fresh guacamole! !!!

First time eating here; landed from Dallas and I was feaning for a carne asada burrito. This place scratched the itch! Nice size burrito, good flavor, good size, good salsa(the habanero one was my preferred choice). Horchata was good too, not too sweet or too water, just right. Big quesadillas too! Gonna check this place out again next time I’m visiting HB and craving a burrito.

Was in the area and decided to check this hole in the wall out. The photos of their food plastered on their windows looked promising. Even the Unilocal suggesting a good spot to eat. Once inside, it was very small and very hot as no a/c. The cashier was pretty friendly but equally overwelmed by the ringing phones, line of customers and flaky tablet that kept crashing while trying to process orders. We tried an order of taquitos as it is a good menu item to test the waters. If a mex place cant get a simple taquito right, then likely they cant cook much else. The taquitos here were average at best. Not bad but not great. They had a nice crunch on the ends but the middle was a bit soggy and lacked flavor(even with cheese, guac and hot sauce). To me, the calling card for this place is their menu selections but the food as simply average. Its almost as if any other mex place with same items in the kitchen could make these dishes better. So in summary, great menu with lots to choose from, friendly service, but average food you can find at most other spots. Def not a destination…

Taco tuesdays favorite spot for my gf and I. Fish tacos and asada on point, asanadaba(?) was kind of salty so we exchanged it for more asada. Menu has lots of items to choose, inside seatings small but outdoor seatings nice and big. Everythings affordable and doesnt empty out the pocket except for the tacos not on tuesdays(3 $/ea). Overall very tasty

So curiosity got the better of me and I tried the T Gunz. No photos. No description. Just says«T Gunz» on the menu. So I ask about it, and the server starts rattling off ingredients. I couldn’t keep up, but it sounded like 3 different dishes. So I just thought to hell with it, let’s do this. From what I could tell it’s a California burrito(French fries, guacamole, carne asada, sour cream), wrapped with a taquito, inside a cheese quesadilla. This was a huge beast, probably meant to be shared with 2 other people. If regular food is feeling a bit pedestrian, give this a shot. Note: you may experience temporary loss of life.

So this little gem is not that far from house and I pass it frequently, but never actually stopped for a quick bite. Well today was different I decided to grab food here. I must admit I’m glad I did. For starters this place is tiny a small bar with maybe two chairs inside and a few tables outside if you aren’t taking your food to go. The menu has a pretty wide selection from burritos, tacos and enchiladas etc. I studied the menu for a bit and let a few people order before me since I was undecided. Everyone was ordering the carne asada burrito, so I decided to go with it. My order was ready and as the guy at the register grabs it he nearly drops it. Although it didn’t touch anything or hit the floor he immediately offered to have the cook make another one. Kudos to you for the awesome customer service. The burrito was about $ 6 and huge! What a steal, lol. So the burrito itself was good I was impressed. The carne asada itself was moist and flavorful. There isn’t much inside the burrito just meat, onion and tomato which is fine by me. I also got the red salsa on the side which isn’t spicy at all(at least to me) my only gripe is spicier salsa please! When it’s all said and done the portions are huge, food is decently priced and workers are friendly.
