Roy Auto & Smog

I came into Roy’s because I failed a smog check. Man Richard is a great guy. He had a educated guess on what was wrong and went straight to work. He gave me a great rate as well. Most places were charging 125 a hour but he gave me a flat 75 dollars for a diagnostics. And the parts and labor costs for the fix itself was great.

these guys are great. we brought in our truck and before we even got started he noticed that our tail pipe was cracked. he suggested we get this fixed before taking the test. this was very nice and honest of him to do. he could have just put us on and it could have failed. we ended up needing a new cat for our truck, when we brought it back directly from the mechanic he made sure to tell us to warm it up before he did the re smog. he is very thorough and honest and we appreciated all his help and knowledge without. his honesty we would have not known what to do.

Nice friendly guy, never seemed too busy was able to fit me in for smog for both of my cars. That is the only reason i am leaving 4 stars.
Although did NOT appreciate him telling me, both of my old Mercedes-​Benz would probably need catalytic converters in order to pass. Well guess what, gave them both complete services and they passed just fine with flying colors. Would not recommend taking your classic German car here, seems to be one of those mechanics that does not appreciate German engineering. Just my opinion!

Good service and reasonable pricing. The wait was short and the person who assisted us was friendly.

Richard is the bomb. Sincere, fast, fair, smog and whatever repair you need to pass smog at a fair price. I always have a problem smoging my son’s Saturn because of the dang check engine light. It’s always been a major ordeal to find a female friendly shop and any one who really gave a rip about our situation.
Richard was efficient and skillful, able to save me a diagnostic by anticipating the reason it failed so our costs were minimal. He gave me the option of paying for a diagnostic to pinpoint the problem. ($ 75) I asked, what he would do if it was his son’s car, and he said he would replace the lazy 02 sensor and cracked gas cap and drive it for 40 miles and try again, so that’s what we did.
It was the first smog station/​auto repair I felt comfortable in. We needed a few repairs before it would pass and he did them and did not charge for the additional test. Plus he had a coupon on his website for $ 26.75 for the smog check.
I started researching smog stations onlineat 3am the day I needed to take in the Saturn. I prayed God would lead me to the right place.
When I saw their website I heard the hallelujah chorus go off in my spirit. I went over and traded cars with my son at school and took it over there. He was just awesome.
He spent 5 hours working on that Saturn and it only cost $ 275 for the repair and smog. Now the car will pass smog easy next time; we finally know what the problem has been all these years.
Also his wife and child were there and they are very sweet.

This is not a TEST ONLY center. This place is great for regular SMOG test. The shop is clean and organized. The price is right. The waiting room is spacious and has TV. The bathroom is spacious and clean. It is not located in super-​congested autoshop zone. It is in Huntington Beach near Slater/​Gothard (pass the railroad tracks). I was in/​out quickly on a Wednesday afternoon.
From now on, this is my GO TO shop for SMOG test and other automotive maintenance services.
