Rusty’s Island Chips

They had rustys chips in my hotel room in Vegas at the Delano. These were the best chips I ever had. Every day I kept hoping that they would replenish the chips so I can have some more, and they did, and I was so happy. I live in the SF bay area. I have to figure out where to get them. If you know quality, you will appreciate these chips.

The chips are so good we are ordering them by the case to our HQ office. Everyone loves them.

These chips are amazing! They sell them at Estudillo market in San Leandro and they are the BEST chips. I have only tried the Island Chips but I can tell you they are super crunchy with the right amount of thickness and salt. I live in San Jose so I am hoping they make it out to a store there so I can enjoy them all the time!

This chip is insanely delicious!!! Hands down the best potato crunch I have ever experienced in my life! Why? The chips are full of flavor and seasoned to perfection. I had the original Island chips & I will never look at potato chips the same post my Rusty experience.

It’s on Gothard St and Edinger Ave in Huntington Beach.
I got samples due to my buddy, so I don’t know about the location.
Products: Hand made potato chips and tortilla chips.
Style: Hawaiian style chips — thicker and crunchier (and a bit greasier due to the longer cooking time for the thicker cut) than usual. I’m not a fan of it. Our «fish guy» told us this was the best chips, so I tried.
Price: Extremely expensive for what it is. 3 oz chips for $ 2.50−2.75 (as the owner corrected it). $ 4 was what I was told. But even my fish man said it was so expensive. Honestly it’s way overpriced. I expected a lot more for this price.
Places to get: the shop or gourmet/​fancy grocery markets.
Taste & crunchiness: It is good but not crazy different from other chips in terms of taste. The biggest and only difference is how hard/​crunchy it is. I don’t recommend it for elderly people nor people whose mouth is small like me. It’s the hardest and whopping jaw killing chips I’ve ever had in my life. My jaw hurts while writing this review… Definitely not the best chips for me.

*Tortilla *
— Sea salt: It’s tasty, but its tortilla is very thick and crunchy. It might be great for dipping, but just munching is kinda hard.
— Chili lime: nice flavor but it’s hard.
*Potato chips *
— Salt: Tasty, yet jaw-​killing hard/​crunchy. Not the best chips like others claimed.
— Black pepper: I usually like black pepper chips, the whole experience is disappointing due to the crazy hard crunchiness.

It’s just too hard/​crunchy to eat it.
I know I keep repeating it, but my jaw hurts. After a few bites, I stop eating it because it’s too hard to eat. My mouth is so small — every dentist of mine cried about it.
It tastes good but as a whole, not the best chips for me. I’m not a fan of this thick and crazy hard Hawaiian style chips.

Today, was the first time I have ever tried both the Island Chip and the Surf City Strips. Both are PHENOMENALLY AWESOMELY AMAZING good chips.
I found them at Haggens where in Laguna Niguel, I had bags of the other brand of chips in my cart. The dude at the deli counter told me these are way better than those.
He’s 100% spot on!!! These, Rusty’s are way better than those other brand names. It’s all about personal preference. I’m sticking with Rusty’s.

Just read on Yahoo about «best potato chips across America». I stopped by Mothers get 2 bags.
Here what i think about it: Average chips. Nothing’s outstanding. Too hard to chew on. Absolutely not suitable for elderly people. I don’t think these chips are for me. Maybe for the others.

Thank you guys for the awesome Island chips! I can’t decide which flavor is my fav because I love them all. Everyone here is so nice and they hand-​bag and seal each bag of chips. Thanks Rusty’s, I shall return for more:-)

Best chips EVER… Period!

Best chips ever. Always a high lite of our trip to the OC Market Place, making our way down the last row for our usual 3 for 5 of Rustys Chips. Unfortunately they never make the trip home. Cant resist the chip…

Seriously! Best chips EVER! We have tried many other chips and nothing compares to Rusty’s! I love them with lemon and Tapatio! Yum! :)

Hands down the best, most natural and fresh tasting chip in the world! Rusty’a Chips all the way!

The chips themselves are insanely good. Like… almost too insanely good. Each chip is like a mini meal or 5 chips in one. Just 3 or so and you feel so satisfied that you can save the rest for later. That’s one of the things that sells it for me, because these chips are also crazy expensive. On the Rusty’s site the cheapest price is $ 3 a bag and you have to buy 24. If you buy 12 its $ 3.25 You can find them cheaper occasionally but its very hard to find them, especially here on the east coast. Cheapest I have found them at is 2.99 and that’s if they are in stock, which they are often not.

I used to get these at Whole Foods weekly until they stopped selling them. Couldn’t find them for a while (few years) until a local Gerard’s began to carry them. These blow Kettle chips out of the water, which have been my favorite for a while now! The crunch and the taste are top notch :) Highly recommended

These chips are the best in the world. And this is from someone who buys chips every where she goes. (Boo to Whole Foods Tustin for dropping them. At least I’ll save all that money from everything else I bought there.) Now I’ll just have to have them shipped. To the person who gives them a one star, I’ve received great response to phone calls and have ordered several cases that way. Now it looks like you can order the case directly on the site. We’ll see how that goes.

Up through now, I still haven’t received a response from Rusty’s. or any of their reps. I did however, find a store that sells their chips locally — at a Nugget Market — not in their chips aisle, but in their deli section.
Review of the Product Itself
The potato chips themselves deserve a solid 5. In the kettle chip or Hawaiian categories, these chips are now my personal current favorite. It seems that they go organic as they can with cooking their chips. No cleaning to whiten the chips seems to have yielded a slightly thicker, tooth-​breaking crunch to them. The appearance is darker/​dirtier, but a better, thicker chip than the names of Kettle and Tim’s. Drop the rest, these are the ones to get. $ 2.79 per 3 oz. bag seemed a little bit steep, but well worth it.
Whatever’s going on with Rusty’s and their non-​response, up yours. Damned good product though.

It’s hard to believe no one has reviewed Rusty’s…but then again not everyone knows where to find them either. They’ve been around for many years but in the recent years made it big. Re-​packaged into your fave casinos on the strip; a few names were dropped and now I have to go find them! You can find these at the OC Fair marketplace every weekend however. 3 bags for $ 5. Tortilla & standard über crisp potato. We’ve made trips to the marketplace JUST to get these.
He’s located right by the produce area. Look for the van and the super laid back surfer guy with the free samples. You’ve just got to love it all.
