This store carries some of the top brands in the industry such as Stussy, Comune, LRG, and MYBRANDIMKING. If you do visit this shop make sure to look for the gear from my company. Say hello to Timmy and check out the new IMKING window display. It’s also on Main St right by the Ocean. Great place to shop for top notch clothing and to enjoy a nice day out in the sun. Recommendation: Check out for my brand in the shop… IMKING =D

I wandered through The Closet yesterday after hearing their name kicked around for quite some time. I was kinda surprised by the big Volcom and Hurley window decals, as both brands are pretty pedestrian for such a revered«boutique», but I held out hope that the store would deliver on its reputation as I wandered further in… Nope. It’s dissapointing to see a store that touts itself as being a step ahead of the average surf shop stoop to such a common level. Everything they stock can be found at the multitude of surf shops in the area, and in larger quantities and size options. The merchandising was boring, and the shoe selection was extremely limited, with the exception of 2 women’s snowboard boots from 2004, which I didn’t fully undestand the point of having… I’ll probably swing by the other locations at some point, but if this is what The Closet is all about, people have a very limited concept of what«forward» retail is.

Since I posted this I think the closet has done a revamp. I walked into the one at Irvine Spectrum the other day and was utterly disappointed! It was filled with urban wear overload. Definitely not my taste. It could possibly be the buyer purchasing clothes in accordance to location, but who knows.

I dig the staff, the staff digs me. I’ve only ever found gems here. It takes a while, but they’re definite winners when I find them. Sunglasses, watch, tops, jacket, skirt, jeans, … I just hate the commitment I have to put into it as soon as the card is swiped: no returns.

hit or miss selection. waaaay pretentiously nice salesboys. they complemented me on everything my friend and i were wearing. as if me hearing«my dress is cute» while holding a sandal that would match perfectly would further persuade me to buy it. flattery is nice for those who aren’t affected by the economy, emo hb bro.

While the clothes in this store may be edgy and have some pretty good pieces, the customer service is horrifying. For the holidays, they have a no refund policy, where you cannot return anything, even if you bought it 5MINUTES before. I bought a pair of jeans, then went across the street and found something I liked better. I went back to try and return the jeans and they would not take them. I purchased them FIVEMINUTES prior and it was still the last item they had on their screen. I even spoke to a unconcerned and unsympathetic manager over the phone who would not do the return. If you have a no refund policy, shouldn’t it be communicated by the sales staff there? Well, unfortunately for me, the quiet sales girl made no mention of it, although did mention very loud in front of my dressing room, that she had a horrible urinary tract infection that spread into her kidneys and had to go to the hospital. Yet… although she was very willing to discuss her personal status of her lower private parts, she was unwilling to communicate to me the store return policy(which most retail stores do). I will never shop here again based on principle.

Really really cool store! I HATE shopping, but this was completely worth it! My favorite scarf and my most favorite sweatshirt on the planet are from here. Since I own many cubic meters worth of clothes, the fact that TWO of my favorite pieces came from ONE store says volumes about the store itself. Visit. You will thank me later.
