I always come here for their rotating IPA and their décor. Dim lighting and nice seating. Tina who I believe is the owner has been great ever since I first came here! Perfect spot to bring a date! I’d come back as usual :).

Went to this place for my birthday! It’s a cute lounge! Very quaint and small. The ambience is business casual. The food was amazing! I Love the Mac and cheese appetizer. Wednesday is $ 20 wine bottle night. You can play board games or trivia at your table. Totally recommend this place! Go for a date or girls get together.

A little tapas and wine bar tucked in the seemingly abandoned Old World Village! it’s called the Speakeasy but it’s not secret and pretty easy to find all the small plates we ordered were just $ 5 each! —mac n cheese: just alright —chocolate cake: moist and fudge-y on the outside but the cake was a bit dry on the inside —crème brûlée: not bad i hear the other tapas are pretty good but i wasn’t able to try them this time around! NOTE: they also have a pile of games like jenga to borrow on the bar

I had this place bookmarked for the longest time. I came here to catch up with an old friend. It’s in Old World, where I’ve only been during Oktoberfest, but this is definitely worth going to! They fit right in and feels like I’ve been transported to an English pub… I wouldn’t really know though. They have a great selection of beers on tap. Additionally, the food isn’t your local pub fare. They had a beet salad and a SPAGHETTISQUASHCARBONARA! I was in love and I’m craving it now. I can’t believe I haven’t been back yet! You can easily sit and their bar or huge high tables chatting and playing games for a few hours.

I went here for the first time for brunch. Everything was so delicious! We almost ordered everything off the brunch menu just to try it. My favorite was the crème Brule french toast and steak and poached egg. So good!

Just wanted to come back and update the review based on their brunch(weekend brunch, 10am-2pm). As expected, the folks at Speakeasy did not disappoint. Their brunch menu was small but the items we got were unique and quite tasty(note: they change out their menu frequently to keep things interesting; i think monthly?). We ordered the Crab Cake Benedict($ 12), which was served with a perfectly poached egg on a croissant instead of the typical english muffin… and the Crème Brulee French Toast($ 9), topped with fresh strawberries & whipped cream. Both items were phenomenal and was deserving of a second visit. Doesn’t hurt that there are $ 2 mimosas!

Wow, the food was pretty darn good and you can’t go wrong with $ 2 mimosas for brunch. We ordered the grits and crab cake Benedict and every bite was surprisingly just as yummy as the last. Presentation was noteworthy as well. Such a trendy place and never too crowded which makes it much more relaxing. Plenty of parking and seating. They even have board games. Great place to hang out and have a few drinks.

Exactly what I was hoping to find! The setting is very small/intimate and the interior is very 1920’s. We ordered the Mac N’ Cheese and the Bread and Cheese plate. Both were delicious, especially the cheese plate. Prices are a bit on the high end in relation to the portion sizes, but it was worth it because everything was quality and tasty. Beers were great. We tried the old stout and the Xococa. Next time I’m going to try the wine selection and main courses.

Located in the Old World Village, everything else around this spot looks a little dated and ghetto however this place is a little watering hole gem. +Cocktails: All 3 cocktails that I tried had champagne in it and tasted lovely. They had slightly different nuances but were pretty much the same. Not overly sweet and more on the dry side. I was able to knock back a few of these. Speak 75 — more lemony Red Curtain — a little sweeter Bitters Champagne Cocktail — a little bit dryer +Service: The waitress and servers kept coming by to check on us. –Food: The charcuterie and other small bites were nice and yummy but the portions are small for food, meant more to be shared between 2 people I think. And it is a little pricey –Ambiance is nice inside and it feels cozy. However the outside and where it’s located definitely rubs on it and makes it feel a little ghetto. There’s nothing really near it so you’re pretty much coming here just for this place. Also not sure if I came on a slow night but it was fairly empty.

Not quite sure if this is a 3-star place or 4-star place — more like 3.5 if I had an option. This is a nice bar/tapas place right on Center Drive in the Old World. The place has very friendly staff and nice atmosphere for chilling out. One creative thing about this place is that I think their menu changes from now and then. I think that adds nice character to their restaurant. On my most recently trip few days ago, I tried Speakeasy shot, which is Korean soju and some fruity juice. It was really yummy! I also had a chocolate cake and I must warn you — if you are not a big chocolate fan, this may be too chocolaty for you. Very rich but wasn’t overly sweet given that it was so chocolaty. If you are a chocolate lover, this is the dessert for you! I’m not sure if they still offer but just to show their creative menu, they used to have stuff like bone marrow crostini, crab napoleon(has avocado relish, lump crab, some greens, sriracha aioli, and honey vinaigrette), etc. Pretty fun appetizers! This is a tapas place so don’t expect to find«meals» at this place. First time we went, we were so hungry and ate literally every item on the menu! Anyways, I give 3.5 star rating because there’s also a con to having a very unique menu — sometimes, you just don’t find what you feel like eating even though you want to munch on something. I often find myself in that camp but we go sometimes because my husband loves the place.

This place is small and hidden, across from Costco. I’ve been here twice: once on a Friday night for a friend’s birthday and once on a Friday evening for dinner. When I came here for a friend’s birthday, I only had drinks. The service was alright. We had servers coming back and forth to ask us if we wanted more appetizers or drinks. I got the pineapple cider. They have games for you to play which added a nice touch. When I came for dinner Friday evening, my BF, dog and I were the only ones there. An extra star because they’re dog friendly! Besides Lazy Dog down the street, I haven’t been able to find many pet friendly restaurants around the area. Our server was once again, just alright. He didn’t seem too happy to be serving us. Kinda dull and wasn’t really eager to answer any of our questions regarding food. We ordered the charcuterie plate and Kailua pork sliders. Both were a disappointment. The charcuterie plate wasn’t anything special: just a few pieces of meat, crackers, and baguette bread. The jam did add a nice touch to balance out the saltiness of the meats. But it really did seem like they purchased it at Costco across the street and assembled on the plate. The Kailua pork sliders come on a biscuit with gravy. Sounds delicious but didn’t taste great. The biscuit was extra dry and crumbly. Even when I took small bites of it with a bunch of gravy, it stuck inside the roof of my mouth and was hard to consume. Both the pork and gravy were plain; wish I had some hot sauce to give it some flavor or something lol One server though, Tina(I really hope that’s her name. I’m so bad at remember names), was upbeat and although she wasn’t our server throughout our meal, she came out to the patio a few times to check on us and ask if we needed anything. I believe when she introduced herself the first time she said she was also going to be serving us but I don’t remember. Nonetheless, thanks for letting us know! This place might be decent if you want to come for drinks to hang out or catch up with a few friends but not if you want good small foods to go with your drinks.

The Speakeasy located in the Old World Village of Huntington Beach is the perfect go to place after a long days of work or a compliment to your relaxing weekend. With craft beers on tap, a wide selection of wine hanging from the walls and tapas ready to be stuffed in your mouth, you’re night will only be filled with laughs and great conversations. Can’t wait until night time? Don’t worry you can go early, they have brunch now! So grab your keys, start your engine and head out towards The Speakeasy and don’t forget to say, «Hello» to Ann and Tina!!!

LOVELOVELOVE this place! The location is in old world. So, every time I come here I feel like im in Europe/Germany. The place itself is quaint and cozy. Service is great! I’m not a big fan of dates(as in the fruit haha) But the bacon wrapped date is so delicious! Must try the bacon mac and cheese, another of my favorites. I’m not a beer drinker, so I order a wine. Riesling, to be exact! Prices are great. Nice place to hangout or bring a date(in this sense, I mean a human being and not fruit haha) This is one of my favorite places in HB!

Everyone was very friendly as I was greeted and taken care of as soon as I walked through the door. Our server was very attentive. They have a nice selection of drinks and beers. The area was small, but it was nice. I would definitely come back. Great place for a catch up drink or just to grab drinks!

A date night spot! We came here for a intimate after dinner date, I had a bruery beer and my fiancé had another beer from North Coast. We also enjoyed bacon wrapped dates(a bit undercooked but great) and mac and cheese(excellent!) The menu is small, you aren’t going to be filled up like you would at dinner, but the environment, the puzzle and games available make this a great spot. We came here mid summer on one of the warmer nights, we had to eventually leave because it was HOT inside despite the«AC» being on. When winter comes we will be back, this is not a night time summer spot.

I’ve been here a couple of times before just for their craft beers but last night I was able to try some of their tapas which was amazing! My friend also told me that she enjoys the wine there so I tried it and it surely did not disappoint. This is a hidden gem inside the Old World Village. Parking was easy. The place is small and cozy and you seat yourself. Coming on a Friday evening at 7:30pm, the entire place was filled already except for 2 tables in the outside patio. Although packed, it isn’t too loud so you could still chat with friends or a date. For foods, we ordered: Garlic mac n cheese: The right amount of cheese and enough hint of garlic. Recommended! Bacon wrapped dates: They were ok. Charcuterie plate: Recommended. Goes well with wine if you’e having some. They give you about 2 different kinds of salami with some pâté. Cheese platter: Also recommended. They give you 3 different types of cheese. Bone marrow crostini: I was actually looking forward to trying this because I am a huge fan of bone marrow but this plate disappointed me. There was barely any bone marrow on the crostini! I would pass. Sliders: Decent The servers all were extremely nice and friendly, but it took them a while to come around to the tables and check on everyone. Despite this, I’d be back here in a jiffy!

I am surprised that this place is 4.5 stars on Unilocal. It’s not comparable to most«speakeasy”/gastropubs types of places! The idea of the speakeasy, the décor, the music, the provided games(e.g. Jenga), ambience were great! But our service was a little slow, the food were below average, and how can you call this a «Speakeasy» if you don’t serve liquor? Dishes we ordered: Charcuterie — 3⁄5 Can’t go wrong if you like deli meats, crackers, bread, and spread. Most of us didn’t like the Chicken Pâté Spread. It tasted like plain liver, not like other Pâté’s I have tried. Bone Marrow Crostini — 1⁄5 Yum, bone marrow fatty. Here they made it easy for you buy spreading the bone marrow on top of the crostini. Well, it was bland and very oily. The crostini was just soaking up all of the oil/fat. Bone Marrows are usually buttery and flavorful. Panko Breaded Zucchini — 2⁄5. They’re sliced, lightly battered then fried. They’re also served with Marinara Sauce. I thought the sauce was plain and didn’t go well with the pieces. Not impressive. Habanero Mac and Cheese — 3⁄5. It was good and creamy, it had a nice kick. This wasn’t the best mac and cheese I’ve had. Proscuitto Wrapped Asparagus — 3.5÷5. It was a light dish. You have tons of mixed greens with 4 asparagus wrapped in proscuitto. Salisbury Steak Sliders — 4.5÷5. The best dish that we tried. The beef was seasoned well, the mashed potatoes were a great idea. It’s almost like a meatload/mashed sandwich! Did not leave a memorable experience so I won’t be coming here again.

This place is a hidden gem tucked in the german center in Huntington Beach. TWO words: cool vibes I loved everything about this place, its seductive enviroment. I feel like I am turned back in time with the music and setting. The food is amazing too!!! I had a whole bunch of plates such as mac and cheese, steak, and cherry salad… it was all delicious: D

I came here for a birthday dinner and we all came here dressed according to our party theme of Mafia and the 1920s(quite fitting with the theme of the Speakeasy). We were able to be seated immediately with our party of 6. Keep in mind that this place is tapas, so be prepared to pay for small portions. I highly recommend doing family style so that everyone can share and split the bill. We ordered: 1. Charcuterie: assortment of meats, french round breads with pâté spread 2. Benedict burger: beef & bacon patty, english muffin, hollandaise. over easy egg 3. Caprese beef skewers: balsamic reduction, tomato and basil 4. Bone Marrow Crostini: little bone marrow pieces of toasty bread with raspberry vinaigrette 5. Crab Napolean: kind of like a crab cake but you get some chips to dip it in 6. Garlic Bacon Cheddar Mac & Cheese: tasted good like your typical mac & cheese 7. And many more … Overall, the highlights of the dishes we ordered was the Bone Marrow Crostini. We ordered 2 plates of those to go around for everyone. It tasted great, but I wished they put more of the bone marrow onto the toasted bread pieces. The Charcuterie is also great. Just be aware that this is probably better(for your wallet) to do family style. Parking is easy. This place is kind of tucked away near the Old World Village. So if you see that sign, then you’re in the right area.
