I’ve probably been eating at the Mediterranean Snack Bar since the 1980s, and it’s still a great place to eat. When I first went there with my parents, it was a single storefront, and there would almost always be a line to get in, even in the middle of the winter. They have added an adjacent storefront, so it’s easier to get a table, and not as crowded as it felt when I was younger. I had the gyro platter entrée, which comes with a salad and pita. It was just as tasty as I can remember, served on a bed of rice pilaf, with yogurt sauce on the side. My daughter ordered the chicken souvlaki entrée, which is a well-marinated shish kabob, also on rice. She left about a third of it, which I gladly brought home and finished. If you want great Greek food, the Mediterranean Snack Bar is the place to go. It’s still just as good as I remember growing up in Commack, and that is why I’ve been going there for literally decades.

I guess this is one of the most * ICONIC * Greek restaurants on Long Island. The food is good but God Damn — why is it so BRIGHT in there?! I feel like I’m eating in a dentist office. Also those high-up stools /tables are less than cozy.(Does anyone remember the other Greek restaurant up the block going south? They shut down about 15 years ago but the food was good and they had COZY booths and nice gentle low lighting. Miss that place). (I know, I know… I have«comfort zone» issues with restaurants) But I de-grease… The Mediterranean has the BEST Lemon Chicken soup and for a pint @ $ 5. ish — A filling and perfect lunch! Two stars off for whoever designed this place — awkward and uncomfortable.

Have been getting take out from here for past few years, and always get quick service. Food is top notch! Seafood is fresh and portions are tremendous! Get the hummus and pita bread it’s homemade and fresh. The owners treat us like family so it’s nice to hear on a Friday or Saturday night when they are busy«Hey how are you doing?» instead of the typical«what do you want» it’s all about customer service!

We’re getting ready to see a show at The Paramount and eating onions didn’t come into my brain until after my food was finished. Lets talk Mediterranean Snack Bar! My wife & I used to come here on dates back in the day. We’d sit on those high stools, talk and laugh for hours. I’d always take my girlfriends to Greek restaurants. If they made a face or said, eww what’s that? Outta there! (Hey, Sonny had his door unlock method, I have my Gyro method) And if they said GI-Row but can sop up Octopus juice with pita bread, I’d let that slide. They don’t have Skordalia on the menu but they do have fresh broiled fish, octopus and many Greek platters like Spanakopita, Gyro and Souvlaki. My wife and I stopped in and were seated on the high stool chairs. Just like old times. We ordered a Stuffed Grape Leaves cold platter to start along with two Snapples. The Feta cheese isn’t very sharp or salty. Its a very mild flavor, nice but I like my feta a little salty. Next, my Gyro platter comes out and its loaded with onions. Yippie!(Cooked perfectly by the way) We’re eating, talking and laughing just like when we were kids. Mediterranean Snack Bar, its not an upscale restaurant. When you want great Greek food, you can’t beat MSB

This place has been my go to for delicious Greek food for a long time. Having tried most of the Greek spots in the area, the Mediterranean Snack Bar always stands out for its taste and quality. There’s a reason this place has survived the Renaissance of Huntington village and remained one of its longest tenants. The classic gyro and Greek pizza are two must try’s.

Definitely a go to spot for gyros in the village. Very casual and priced well. We order from here all the time and even stop in every so often. The service is great and the food is awesome.

Drove from Williston Park to get good Greek food. Saturday night they took us right in and the waitress was really nice. I wish I remembered her name. I tried the spinach casserole after her recommendation and really liked it and then got the Greek salad with salmon. The salad was huge. That didn’t stop me from finishing it though lol. I’m going back to tonight because I’d like to try their spinach pie and since I loved the salad so much I’m going to get the same thing. All the staff was great and looks like they all work together to help each other which is nice. If there is a good place that has great food nice staff and is reasonably priced I don’t care how far I drive and this place is worth it.

They do everything right! They know how to treat their customers. The service is great. The price is right. The food is phenomenal! They even pronounce«gyro» correctly! The best Greek chicken I’ve ever had — meat FALLS off the bone — so tender. They make a little Greek salad that is perfect and fresh. Even their French fries are delicious — very potatoey! Loved this tiny place and their people!

Went here for gyros and the waiter threw the menus on the table. He was very rude, me and my sister wanted to walk out but we didn’t feel like looking for somewhere else to eat. We got two gyros, a water, and a coke. When I went to pay, the waiter said«excuse me, excuse me. The tip isn’t included.» I didn’t have any cash and the credit didn’t have tip option. I felt like he didn’t deserve a tip so we left. I can’t believe he would even say that after he treated us in such a manner. I would never go back or recommend this restaurant. The food was not all that either.

Mediterranean Snack Bar has adorned its sticky vinyl tablecloths with consistently good Greek food for years. When the thought of greek food comes to mind, this is the first place I would recommend visiting that is conveniently located in the heart of Huntington. Beware of the Ouzo apéritif though… it’s a mind eraser.

We had a gyro here today. The sign said their food was voted best Greek food in the Village. It was horrible. Doesn’t even come close to Skorpios gyro!

I have been going here since I was at least 5 months old. this is my go-to Greek fix! The staff over the years has always been friendly and welcoming! Steve is by far the best owner of a business in Huntington, he even got my friends who came to visit me from college fixed on their spinach pies! Wish the hours were longer, but I feel like I am home when I go here!

Authentic Greek awesomeness. Had the gyro pita w/yogurt sauce. Their homemade gyro meat is fantastic, perfect. Greek coffee brewed perfectly — baklava out of this world delicious. Original and authentic Greek cuisine in the heart of Huntington Village.

My favorite Greek restaurant! LOVE the Greek salad. They put a perfect amount of dill in it, that’s what makes the salad. Delicious! I love the onion sauce they give you with the gyro, adds tons more flavor to something already soo delicious. Never had any entrees only gyros, salad, hummus oh which by the way is also perfectly made, and pork soulvlaki(spelling!) and this place never disappoints. There’s a reason why there’s usually a wait to be seated! I’m getting hungry!

Normally I only review a place shortly after I eat there, but after my review of another greek place, i had to review this place. I went with a good friend of mine. I do not remember what she ordered, but i remember i got Steve’s Combo, which consisted of veal souvlaki, gyro meat, and sausage. first things first, i can not get over how good their greek salad was. i know i know, a greek salad is a greek salad, but the dressing was amazing, and as you’ll read from others, sometimes they forget the olives and grape leaves, 1 of the 2 of ours didnt have, we asked, they apologized and politely brought over. for the meal, i remember my friends was very good, as well as mine. there is just ‘something’ about this place that the food is delicious. on the island, this is one of the better places for greek food. taking the boroughs or trucks in the city, doesnt come close, but this place deserves 4 stars for being on the island. worth going to.
