Roush Lake Shooting Range

Roush Lake is a great facility. They have 25, 50, and 100 yard lanes, so whether you’re shooting handguns or rifles, they’ve got something for you. There are also trap shooting and archery ranges, though I’ve never used those. The charge is $ 4 for as long as you want to shoot.

A very nice state-​run outdoor shooting range. The cost of lane rental is $ 4/​person with no time limit. They have 63 lanes available running all the way up to 100+ yards. There’s no rentals or ammo sales. While I own firearms I’m not an enthusiast so I enjoyed the ability to take my time and learn at my own pace without the ticking clock of lane fees going through my head.
I went with my father the weekend before Christmas. It was a sunny day but about 32 degrees. He’s not a gun enthusiasts but we took a couple of our handguns to warm up on this chilly day. The attendant was friendly, direct and kept an eye on things. He was very proud that in the 10+ years the facility was working that they had only one small incident. He was dedicated to keeping it that way.
We put some holes in a few paper plates and called it a day. I’ll bring my kids next time because they need even more time than me to become acquainted with each firearm and at $ 4 as-​long-​as-​you-​need range rental, I’ll be taking them on visits from now on.
Oh, and there’s also archery and trap shooting ranges available.
