I have to say, the place is slipping, PIZZA wise… The ambiance is nice enough for a local pizza joint and the specialty slices usually taste good. The reg. pizza slice is meh. not so good. The problem I had with my recent trip is that they have SHRUNK the size of a specialty slice to the size of a small square sicilian. I had chicken bacon ranch, which normally is a decent size triangle… not so tonight and there was no warning as I placed my order over the phone. Someone should have told me. We expected a certain size, and what we got was ½ the size for each slice. They tasted fine, but far too pricey if that is all you are going to get. They need consistency… something they are lacking lately. I’ll be going to other places nearby. Woodbury Pizza is friendlier and really nice inside, food is great and portions sizes are good. It’s worth the extra 5 minutes to drive there. And no I have no relation to Woodbury pizza, other than I have had better value and food from them!

Nice place for a quick slice, have never had the food — just pizza. The Sicilian and the Grandma pizza are very good — 5 «star» quality. The regular is good. Counter service can be a bit slow and slightly unfocused. On occasion I have had slices not heated well enough or an incomplete order. Not tragic. Would definitely recommend.

Tops within the context of what they do…
Classic Long Island family pizza joint and restaurant. Very good pizzas, tasty chicken/​veal parmigianas, simple pastas and fresh salads make up the obvious but appealing menu. Always pleasant faces and a real clean atmosphere with warming overhead music and just a cozy vibe makes this place one you’ll remember later in life when you pause and look back at simple moments and mundane days. They’re not re-​inventing the wheel here, but the consistent food, fair prices, and warm vibe make this spot a solid choice for a casual sit-​down meal or quick slice.
The type of place you don’t appreciate enough until it’s gone…

We have been ordering from here for years. Consistently good entrees and amazing pizza — especially the grandma pie. And, they even deliver in the neighborhood. Can’t go wrong ordering from here!

Best Grandma pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Place is always full. Its a bonus that they deliver. Work in New Hyde Park near the original but have only had this location; it makes me want to go to the original just to compare, I don’t think it could be better. The dough and sauce are top notch, not the sweet garbage you get any many pizzerias on Long Island. Everyone is friendly and the service is fast.

Amazing food. Quick service. Staff is very friendly and ready to help. I ate in the one by Jericho and Floral Park and definitely not as good as this one. This place is worth driving 1hr for.

Honestly the pizza is so greasy and taste terrible. It is Spanish pizza not Italian… Seems like all the employees are grease balls from Huntington Station. Aside from the server ladies. The umbertos in Plainview taste much better

Stopped in for a couple slices cause I heard Umbertos in Huntington is owned by the same guy who owns Umbertos of New Hyde Park. I’ve never been there but heard they have excellent pizza.
As you can see I ordered two slices and one was a decent size but the second one was minuscule in comparison. Bad start. Now let’s rate the pizza.
Dough– slightly undercooked, tasty but limp and a bit flimsy
Sauce– tasty, slightly zesty but not fabulous or memorable
Mozzarella cheese– excellent quality with a slight snap and buttery finish
Overall impression– a bit underwhelmed

This pizza was delicious. It took a bit to get seated, during which time it was tempting to get a slice of pizza for the wait — but we held out and were rewarded. The pizzas were pretty huge and I imagine there’s no going wrong with any of the selections. Not surprisingly the salad was a bit less exciting but we thought we should get something «healthy» — although with the added meat and cheese, that was debatable! I can see why it’s a popular place.

Food was good. Great deal on pasta night. Service, not so much.
Had a waitress here, very young with dark hair; polite girl– but she seemed a bit lost. Food took a while to come to the table, and she seemed unsure of what it was. It was busy, so I can forgive her for that, but she was not too knowledgable of food or drink. The place overall seemed very unorganized for a week night!
Dinner was great, though. What a steal! A salad, a generous portion of delicious pasta, and some warm, classic, garlic knots. I enjoyed my meal as did my husband. Pizza takeout was busy for the Monday night sicilian — another great deal we do often.
Great food, but service is inconsistent. Sometimes, it’s great, and other times, we get new faces who are struggling. I’ll come back again, but probably takeout. Food was good. Great deal on pasta night. Service, not so much.

They finally deliver!!! Grandma pizza is awesome! Chicken parm is always great, they nailed both as usual. I think a lot of pizza places are going to suffer now that umbertos delivers too. thanks guys! Pizza was nice and hot upon delivery… a very difficult task these days yet you NAILED it!!!

amazing pizza, and their food is really good too. been here dozens of times. try their crustina slice, its amazing and so is their margarhita slice and basically all of their pizza and their mozzerella sticks are awesome.

I was visiting from Boston and was craving a really good classic thin crust NY slice last night. Unfortunately, Umbertos didn’t quite hit the spot. The crust was too dense and thick and overwhelmed the taste of the cheese and sauce, which were just ok. Definitely not memorable.

Ordered a hero in store with no cheese, got back to office to find a hero with cheese.
Call back, told new hero with cheese is on its way, 10 – 15 minutes. That was an hour and a half ago. The office is 5 minutes away.

I came here for the buffalo chicken pizza which I’ve had a couple of years ago at the lake grove location and it barely had any chicken. So disappointed

Take out or dine in, the food is delicious. My two favorites are the gnocchi with fresh mozzarella and marinara and the Sicilian pizza with mushroom and meatball. The only thing I dislike about dining in here are some of the waitresses. One time I had a waitress that took her hair down in the dining area and was scratching her head like crazy then came to our table with her hair still down to ask if our food was ok. Ick! And sometimes the employees here are a little unenthusiastic. I prefer to take out rather than dine in. If the service was better I’d give 5 stars.

Umberto I, King of Italy, and his wife, Queen Margherita of Savoy, were prepared Pizza Margherita back in 1889. So all these Umburto’s are paying homage to that early King and Pizza being popularized after their visit to Naples.
This Umbertos has always made a genuinely good chicken marsala slice. Today I tried it again, and also the margherita. They both looked awesome. The chicken was delicious but my tastes are changing, and like french food I loved in my 20s, it now tastes a bit too rich. similarly this was just too flavorful if that can be. lol…
You’ll likely love it. The margherita was tomatoey lol and plenty of fresh mozz. fresh basil etc. Looked awesome flavor had me a bit bored not sure why.
This place has the most amazing slices, and rocks when you want to have a casual sit down for salads, pastas, etc. they really are a homey fun place to hang while kicking back. Nice place always. Fresh, fast service, nice people. Some staff that stays.
