A very lackluster experience. First off, I was seated at a table without a table skirt. The table itself was sticky, a very unsettling first impression. I ordered a water with lemon and gyoza for an appetizer. The water was straight tap water and I did not receive a lemon. My gyoza came out before my entrée and it was absolutely awful. The gyoza meat was advertised as a ‘beef blend’ but it tasted like Salisbury steak. Bleck. My entrée was the Szechuan beef, which tasted pretty average. Typical freezer meat beef with some fresh green peppers. They did give me a large portion, which was nice. Lastly, what do you expect at the end of every Chinese restaurant experience? Fortune cookies. We were given none. I believe this was the first time EVER that I did not receive a fortune cookie at a Chinese restaurant. Go elsewhere.

This restaurant is most definitely appropriately named, it is Wonderful! All of the Szechuan dishes are must haves, totally authentic. They have the only hand pulled noodles in the whole area. We went for buffet today and our server was beyond helpful explaining all the dishes. They have some of the most unusual items, we had chicken gizzards and a wonderful seaweed soup. The interior leaves a little to be desired and the location is just odd but for some reason this just adds to the experience.

This place can be summed up in one word: authentic. The décor may seem dated and the service can be questionable at time, but the food is amazing. This is probably the place the chefs go to when the other Chinese restaurants close. I was in the area for business and craving authentic Chinese food. I found this place and kinda wish I would’ve found it sooner. From the classic Sichuan dishes to the Hot Pot to the hand-pulled noodles, I almost want to extend my stay to try a couple of things on the menu. I ordered the West Lake Beef Soup and the Poached Beef with Hot Chili. Both were delicious. If you want real authentic Chinese cuisine, check out Wonderful Restaurant.

If there is an eatery that barely anybody goes to, you really can’t expect the food to be fresh. On top of that, I have personally seen the cooks smoking cigarettes in the kitchen.

That was the worst food I have ever had! I can usually eat anything, but not this. I threw it away. It smelled so bad that I had to take out the trash. Gross! I had the buffet.

Great food! I had the Szechuan chicken: The vegetables were crisp and fresh, it even had real garlic in the dish! What a concept! I did make the mistake of ordering the dish hot, I really like hot food, but this was beyond my heat threshold. However, unlike most places in H-town, when I told the server I couldn’t eat it because of the heat, he didn’t roll his eyes or puff. Amazing! He actually did his job and brought it back to the kitchen, the chef fixed it and even came out to see if the new plate was okay. Amazing! I have lived and traveled all over this country and this is honestly one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve eaten at. You won’t be bummed if you eat here!

Best vegetarian lunch deal in town, hands down. Wonderful leveled up when they implemented the lunch buffet, not only in value but also variety. This restaurant has the courage to challenge whats typically expected for chinese buffet in this area. Garlic, ginger, chili flakes… this place has what I need. Additionally, Wonderful offers a vip card for 50 $ with the incentive of 15% off every meal. If you cant get enough of this restraunt, thats one hell of a deal. Best lunch deal in huntington.

So the kid and her dad, being myself, are heading back to KY from several points East and North. We hit the Huntington area just in time for supper. What’s open? What’s good? What am I in the mood for? So I check Unilocal as I most often do. Thai? Chinese? Chinese! Yes! So… Wonderful, huh? Looks promising. Looks to be well hidden in an odd hotel turned apartment building, but cool, the dining room is in a solarium like space looking out over the pool. The place is empty on this particular Sunday evening in early August. Marshall kids haven’t returned as of yet. So we have the place to ourselves, and the server’s full attention. The food is delicious. I ask for mine HOT and that’s what I get. Woo wee it is. I like the menu. It sports some of the usual, but it goes well beyond. The kid seemed to enjoy her pot stickers and even ate some of the bok choy(oh my god, no, not green food!). Recommended!

I could write another glowing review of Wonderful, my favorite restaurant in Huntington, but instead I’ll direct you Andy’s review which I believe says it all: Trust us, just go!

Despite it’s strange location in an unassuming apartment complex, despite it’s weird interior, Wonderful is easily the best restaurant in the tri-state area for one simple reason alone: the terrific food. The menu may be quite extensive and even daunting to the uninitiated, but fear not, the super courteous staff are always very willing to offer their insights and suggestions. I’d imagine coming with a small group(of open-minded) individuals would be in your best interest as this menu isn’t that of your typical Americanized Chinese eatery and the portions, also, are of significantly greater volume than other restaurants. Though some of your standard Chinese-fare is on here, like Kung Pao, this restaurant excels at the authentic spicy Mapo Tofu, the Chinese Eggplant and Black Bean Sauce, the Chairman Mao’s Favorite Pork Dish(succulent braised pork belly in a sweet, slightly spicy sauce), and their far above average fried rice. The weekend buffet is worth paying a special praise. Again, significantly different from the norm, the buffet, while containing a few relatively safe options, has many different offerings for the adventurous eater. Last weekend, for example, I had pig ears, spiced lamb, braised beef with daikon, fried intestines, and the aforementioned Mao’s Pork Dish. Also worth mentioning is the abundance of vegetarian options on the buffet; Chinese Eggplant, Kung Pao Tofu, Hot and Sour Potato, among others. In short: Wonderful lives up to its namesake and, if in the tri-state area, there is no reason why you should eat another, inferior Chinese restaurant.

Ridiculously nice people, cheap lunch prices, and authentic fresh food. If you’re on fourth and looking for lunch, go here.

The food here was so fresh and tasty! The place was really clean and the server was very nice and attentive. There is no buffet, it is a nice sit down place with really great priced lunch specials during the week. Can’t wait to go back! Inside the 1st floor of the Upperclassmen apts.
