Dick’s Sporting Goods

My experience w Dick’s Sporting Goods has been splendid, especially with their price match /​guaranteed low price.
One week short of Christmas this past December I was on a mission looking high and low around town for a good quality day pack for my husband. Out here in the south there isn’t any REI’s nearby (like in California) so I was limited to what was in town. My 1^st stop was at one of their competitors, Sports Authority, but their prices were regular prices. Next I headed for Dick’s. Although Dick’s did not have an organized wide selection of packs to choose from in-​stock, I did find what I was looking for — The North Face Ångström 28 Technical Pack. It was priced at the same retail price of $ 119, but while I was in the store decided to breakout my cell phone to do further research. I always research potential investments before actual purchases, like stocks. ;) Low and behold all the reviews I read were good — flying colors. I also liked all the features on the said item, suitable for our needs, but most of all I liked the price I found ‘online’ with another store competitor — Cabela’s. So I figured I’d just order the pack from Cabela’s vs Dick’s. So as I was walking out thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask a Dick’s employee if they do price matches. Turns out I was speaking w a manager and he said it depends on ‘who’ the retailer is and I told him it was Cabela’s. And they DO price match Cabela’s! Boy, was I a happy customer! So, I quickly ran back and picked up the TNF Ångström 28 Technical Pack for $ 83.30 (vs $ 119) by just showing the cashier Cabela’s sale price on my iPhone.
Despite other reviewers’ experiences, this was a great experience for me shopping at Dick’s knowing they price match other store retailers, saving me from running around town for a better $ elsewhere or waiting 2 weeks from shopping online.
If your experience is anything less than mine, I’d suggest reading the details on Dick’s guarateed low prices on their website. As with most deals, there are some exceptions. Know them in advance and talk to an actual store manager if something is inconsistent.

I was there trying to buy some running shoes on a Saturday, it must not have been the «prime shift» where all the competent workers prefer to show up. It took an act of Congress to get one of them to come out of the backroom to help me, and MID-​SENTENCE, the guy just said — «you know, excuse me for a moment», and left! Apparently a friend of him had shown up…
completely useless per running shoe recommendations. Don’t go to Dick’s if you are looking for services.

Dick’s is just one of those places who seem to appreciate your business. I purchased an item from one location which was obviously a return, but it looked intact so I bought it. Well, it was damaged. I was able to swap it at this location with little problem. The staff is friendly and make this a pleasant place to shop. They have definitely earned my business!
