Gorgeous man made environment. Not sure I’m particularly fond of the fishing rule(younger than 15, older than 60 allowed). Green Mountain offers beauty, nature and relaxation.

Perfect day for a photowalk & hike during the golden hour earlier today! But let me warn you — when you hear the notice across the lake that the park is closing in a few minutes you better run cause the park ranger/keeper doesn’t take any guff! Thankfully we were at the last leg of our hike(@ The Cambron Bridge) and made a run for it and made it in time as the ranger/keeper was putting up the chains @ the walk-in entry. Furthermore, he booked it outta the parking lot to close the parking lot gate. We quickly followed and made it out just as he was locking it up. From what I recall, there were at least 3 other vehicles in the parking lot when we left. Hope they made it out in time and didn’t get locked in. :|

Beautiful area for an easy hike around a scenic lake. Simply just beautiful. Trails are about a mile or two if you take the main route. Saw many Canadian Geese around which made it interesting. Definitely a stop for casual hikers and outdoor photographers.

Nice place for an easy hike with nice scenery. If you are looking for a «challenging» trail, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you are seeking nice scenery and a place the entire family can enjoy, this is a nice spot.

The park is pretty, well-kept, and relatively free from garbage. There’s a lake full of the biggest blue-gill, perch, and catfish I’ve ever seen but… you can’t fish unless your under 16 or over 60! What a bummer. You can take your dog for a nice walk, see an old log cabin and covered bridge and the hike is really easy. There is some wildlife, but not much when I was there, just some geese and a few birds. Still pretty bummed about the fishing rules.

Green Mountain Nature Trail is a great way to experience Nature in Huntsville. There’s a lake with plenty of wild life, a few easy trails nearby, and some historical references to Gruene, who was German and stopped here in Alabama before heading to Texas, giving the mountain it’s name. The park is relatively easily accessible(see the map on website), open sunrise to sunset, and it’s free. I remember coming here frequently with my dad when I was younger to watch the wildlife and walk across the covered bridge. If I accurately recall, there’s a connection to the Space Walk trail — which connects Monte Sano and Green Mountain along the ridges that separate Jones Valley from Hampton Cove. It’s a beautiful drive up the mountain to get to the park — you can see both valleys on either side of the mountain. I recommend it for a sunny afternoon the next time you’re in the neighborhood.
