What a cool doctor. In the midst of my telling him why my stomach hurt (drank too much Monster Java) he asked why in the world would I do such a thing (commuting from ATL to HSV at 4:30AM). Wait, what?! Yes, I am saying there is a doctor out there that actually cares why you put Monster Java in your stomach and does not assume that you are just really stupid sometimes.
He asked some more questions about my commute, lifestyle here in HSV, etc and took some tests to determine I wasn’t just suffering from the Monster Java… normal doc stuff… and I was out in just under an hour.
Tip: Bring cash or check for your copay as they do not take FSA or any debit/​credit cards. Also, the building is difficult to find — it’s across the street from ABC music and in a cluster of little brown pod-​like buildings. Look for bldg 7.
If you ever get relocated to Huntsville and need a good doc, definitely try Dr. P!

Dr. Piersma was an engineer before he decided to become a doctor. He’s extremely conservative with prescribing medicine, which I love. I’m not a pop-​a-​pill kind of person. His office is very small and there is never a long wait to see him. I’m not particularly thrilled with his nurse. He takes him time with you and listens, and you feel he really cares. Also, I think his hobby is reading the latest medical journals, so he’s up to date on everything!
