There isn’t much to not like about Pier 1. I mean, come on! This might not be my favorite location because it always seems to be horrendously crowded over here by North East Mall, but once you park and get inside it’s typically fairly quiet, cool, and well staffed. And of course, it smells delicious inside and makes you all warm and happy with its ever-evolving selection of seasonal décor and sparkling home and kitchen ware. I appreciate that the staff answers your questions and greets you, but they don’t follow you around or hover. I think the prices are a bit higher than what you’d find at World Market, but they’re definitely cheaper than my other favorite spot that I just can’t afford at this time — Pottery Barn. Last time I visited this Pier 1, I was mildly disappointed in their lack of variety in some departments(pillows, place mats, garden décor), while their jewelry, scarves, paperweights, and trinkets for kids sections seem to be growing. Great for stocking stuffers and random gifts, but not my favorite arena to browse. But no matter what, I can always find a great gift for friends and family when I need one at Pier 1. Especially for house warming parties, Mother’s Day, and great default gifts like a candle or unique picture frame. And of course, during the holidays, they’ve always got the trendiest decorations in a wide variety of styles, whether you’re staying traditional or feeling a bit more modern.
