Bought a pre-​made cake last minute. I received great service and a cake that my picky husband LOVED. I believe the pricing was well worth the product I received.

I really, really wanted to LOVE it!!! I ordered a vanilla cake. It tasted very similar to a walmart box cake which isn’t saying much. I wanted a home made cake that was moist. FAIL. The cake was beautiful and the price was very low for the size i received. So my experience wasn’t awful. Maybe I set the bar too high. Hmmmmmm I might be back and try another flavor.

We only come here for the 6-​pack assorted cupcakes for our office. Fam thinks the strawberry layer cake is good. Dozen cookies are way over-​priced vs. Creative Memories Bakery and lower flavor selection.

We ordered our wedding cake form Texas star. when we went in for the tasting the staff was helpful and attentive. We ordered a cake to feed 40 people and it came out beautiful! We enjoyed the flavor and we felt comfortable with the staff the moment we walked in. We had a great wedding and a beautiful cake to enjoy on our day. The price was very reasonable, I will be ordering more!

They were so awesome to let us in to buy a last minute cake about 20 minutes after they had closed. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Update… The cakes were great. The red velvet was nice and moist (and this was on the day after we picked them up) and the chocolate was decadent.

I’ve enjoyed Texas Star cakes and treats at several events over the past few years. Each and every time the host claimed «they’re the best!»
I finally ordered from TX Star myself after being tired of hearing «we need 4 weeks notice» by another local shop I order from. (For a traditional half sheet cake with buttercream)
I ordered a half sheet white cake and my 6 year old LOVED the Lego design. Three days later it is still incredibly moist! The staff I spoke with were both friendly and professional and TX Star Bakery has earned a customer for life!

Not only are their cakes delicious, but so cute! I got specially made cakes recently. One for my moms birthday and then a smash cake for my sons first birthday. They were awesome! Also got a ton of cupcakes for his party. They were super cute as well. I was seriously blown away by the cake decorations though. So much detail on them. We got so many compliments on how cute they were.

I’m not sure where the glowing reviews are coming from for this shop– I was so disappointed with this place. After reading so many positive reviews I was really excited to try this place and I stopped by one day with my kids to get some special treats. Great building, small shop with charm and the display case was impressive. Everything looked so tasty and pretty! My first impression went down a notch, though, when I was greeted by one of the 2 young men who were working there at the time. Not one smile came from him and he had no inviting behavior at all. He was sullen and seemed put out by our presence there. I asked him for recommendations as we were new customers and he spat out a few answers but not with any enthusiasm. It honestly made me feel very unwelcome and I tried to speed things up a bit.
I ended up getting 6 cupcakes and a lemon bar, as I love lemon bars. Flavors of cupcakes were: vanilla with buttercream, chocolate with vanilla buttercream, red velvet, strawberry, orange and double chocolate. They all looked great and had a more homemade appearance rather than a fancy-​schmancy look to them, which was fine with me.
Now on to the tasting: all in all, NONE of the treats we got were that great. I was really surprised and disappointed that the only flavors that were actually noticeable were the strawberry cake and the orange buttercream but they were subtle flavors. Everything else was literally tasteless– the cream cheese frosting did not have ANY cream cheese flavor and the vanilla buttercream tasted like nothing. The chocolate didn’t have a real chocolate flavor and while the cake had a good texture, it just didn’t have any flavor. I had hope for the lemon bar but alas, that didn’t have any flavor, either! The lemon filling wasn’t even real lemon curd– it was that fake rubbery lemon stuff that stretches when you bite into it.
The final test for me was the fact that my kids, who INHALE treats, didn’t even finish the cupcakes I gave them and never asked me for another, even though they saw the container in the fridge for a few days. I ended up throwing the leftovers out, which is pretty much unheard of in our house. I will continue my quest to find a great cupcake place, as this bakery isn’t it for me.

The best bakery I’ve found here so far. At least over in HEB/​Fort Worth area. You wouldn’t think it but going in they have a wide selection and when you get it home it doesn’t just look good, it taste good.
I highly recommend trying their pies, cookies and cupcakes. All have been great for us so far. It’s kind of off the beating path but it’s worth the detour for sure.

Been using this place for my children birthday cake past 4 years and never disappointed! Only thing is the chocolate frosting taste bland. But the strawberry cake and cupcakes are to die for!

Best red velvet cupcake I have ever had! Frosting is not too sweet, the cupcake itself is moist and flavorful.

I’ve tried quite a few of their KILLER cupcakes! My favorite by far is the double fudge chocolate though. So moist, and so fresh!
Customer service is always 110% and I will absolutely go back there!

May family has used this bakery for many occasions. We’ve bought cookies, cupcakes, cakes they have on hand, and custom cakes. We’ve never had any problems. They always taste fantastic and have great customer service. While you’re there enjoy a banana pudding cupcake or fudge kiss cookie.

Love these cakes, almost any flavor is great. My children and husband love their strawberry cake, but my favorite is the Italian cream. I also love their brownies, cookies and cupcakes. Prices are reasonable unless you have something that’s not the usual sheet cake or round cake. If you have a really special occasion like a Bridal shower, Baby Shower or Wedding then it may be worth it to splurge on a custom Texas Star cake.

I had the red velvet cupcake and am still thinking about it, weeks and weeks later.
This place is located in a cute little shopping center. The store itself is small and they focus on customized baked goods but what they have behind the glass is really good. They bake the stuff fresh every day. Personally, my favorite things so far are the blueberry pie and the cupcakes.
I’m giving it 4 stars because when you walk in the person behind the counter stares at you until you’re ready to order, which makes me nervous. But all in all this bakery is worth driving down Harwood for.

Texas Star Bakery makes the absolutely BEST strawberry cake ever and they’re reasonable to boot. a 10″ cake will cost you $ 10 and this sugary strawberry smell will hit you whenever you open the cake box. Their cakes are light and fluffy with just the right amount of frosting.
If strawberry cakes are not your style they also offer an array of pies cookies, cupcakes and bars out of their display case. Cupcakes usually sell for $ 2 each. Just make sure that if you’re ordering a larger size of baked goods or you want to guarantee that they have what you want, make sure you call ahead. The staff is super nice and helpful too.

My friends used this place for my bridal shower cake last year, and the almond cake was a big hit! It was both delicious and beautiful: It was three-​tiered, had a basket weave and was floral. I was told it was about $ 100. More than easily fed 25 people with a ton of leftovers afterwards.
Last week was my husband’s birthday. His favorite cake is strawberry and I had every intention of making him one from scratch. I didn’t get to carry through with it as planned (something about me having a baby). I didn’t have anything planned ahead/​ordered, and didn’t want to get him a grocery store cake. That morning, I remembered this place and just decided to get whatever they had. I also like that they open really early, like 7am. Perfect for a mad dash in and out.
Luckily, they had several cakes pre-​made. That day, the cooler contained fudge, white, carrot, Italian cream, and strawberry (!). They had single and double layers; the double is listed for $ 18, and even just rings up $ 18. My husband loved the cake and the buttercream frosting.
They are capable of some pretty cool cakes – they have an example of a half Star Wars/​half Chinese dragon wedding cake sitting on top of the cooler. They also have tons of cupcakes ($ 2 apiece) in the display case.
