I don’t know how the grocery stores in IF compare to this one, so I can just compare this to other stores near me. And even at that, I won’t give it but a loose comparison. Perhaps prices are just higher in IF for groceries? I don’t know what all goes into the pricing here, but there was a marked difference than what I’m used to, at least on packaged goods. There were still deals to be had in the meat department, where I picked up some pork chops on the cheap. They were delicious on the grill(I was headed to a farm, and it just felt right to BBQ every meal on the back patio looking over the circles) and I didn’t spend a fortune on them. But I was disappointed in variety of everything else. It was pretty much a meat n’ potatoes kind of joint, and if you tried to vary outside of that too far, you were out of luck. Part of that is real estate – this isn’t a massive store and shelf space is limited – and part is that Albertson’s isn’t really all that esoteric in its selection. It’s a meat and potatoes grocer. All the essentials abound here. Not at the best prices, but there’s nothing that was an alarming overcharge. Stock up if you’re headed out to the farm, and get the pork chops.
