I really wanted to like this place. The remodel is excellent — beautiful and colorful; the concept for this interactive children’s museum was good BUT the execution was not so great. The music section had limited instruments, many of which were broken. Both guitars and the ukulele available for hands-on music play had broken or missing strings. The software in the music area was ok but there was no software nor an attendant to help you learn to play the instrument or even to help tune the out-of-tune instruments. The make-your-own video section looked promising but there were very limited props and no costumes. The background and music selection were limited. The art history room was ok. Mostly just a slide show without any interaction. The examples of art from each period was limited. The make-your-own art section was really sad. There were just blank pages, coloring pages, and crayons and markers. I was super excited about the stop-frame animation area and the software there was easy to use. But there was a lack of props to allow you to make a neat stop-animation film. The items that were available were either broken or not poseable so that it made for not so great of an experience. The redeeming parts of the museum were the interior slide and the lighted lego table. It was an ok diversion, but we won’t be going back again and again.
