Arrived at my room about 3:30pm and off I went. The first half was GREAT, walked south first. The falls are beautiful, and when the late afternoon light hits, its very very scenic. It started getting really cloudy and dark on the way back(it’s about 2 hours) if you walk really really slow and take lots of pictures. About 2 ½ miles they say. Definitely worth the walk and you should do this when visiting.

I really enjoyed walking around this the other day. If you’re in Idaho Falls it’s a must you at least do a little of it.

This is what Idaho Falls is know for. The green belt is a few miles around the snake river and waterfalls. There is usually geese turds, so be careful. Dog friendly.

Great place to take the kids for a walk. The sculptures, the bridges, the falls, and the LDS temple all make for beautiful scenery and photo opportunities. It’s a great place to let the kids run and chase birds, or just sit and people watch. The best part? It’s free(my favorite 4 letter«F» word)!

I’m specifically going to be reviewing the Sportsman Park, directly across from the Marriott Residence Inn. This park is not something you would quite expect in Idaho Falls, since all around is quite high desert-y feel. The historical bridge is beautiful to just stand on looking down at the Snake River flowing down. As you walk into the actual Japanese garden-like park, you’ll immediately hear the soothing sound of the streams flowing and trickling. It is very green with lots of shade, and if you’re there around dusk, the lighting is gorgeous! I was just walking in circles while enjoying a cigar, relaxing after a long day at work. The best part is it is free, and it was directly in front my hotel, as well as I had a view from my hotel room. There are many benches to sit and just thinking, watching the mini-falls/streams, watching the animals, enjoying a book and/or cigar. I’d highly recommend just going for the walk with your family and having a picnic.

Great place to take the kids. Pack a picnic, bring some bread for the ducks and geese. Sit back or walk around. Either way you will enjoy a beautiful view of the Snake River no matter what side you are on. Update: Sorry but they don’t allow you to feed the ducks anymore.(There is a hefty fine for it, if caught.) But still a nice place to take a walk/jog/run/bike/blade/board or whatever.

If you are in Eastern Idaho, you have to go here. It’s gorgeous. Natural. Honest. Free. Open. Clean. Fresh. Best of all, it’s free! Come walk your dog, have a picnic with some loved ones or feed the ducks! Come stroll along the sidewalk and enjoy the open unadulterated view of nature!

this is a great place to take a walk, go for a run or ride your bike. Beautiful view of the river, lots of ducks and geese doing their thing and conveniently located near hotel row in idaho falls. I am out here for business and will make sure to stay close to here so I can go for walks in the morning or after work. I only wish there was someplace this nice to walk in Los Angeles.

The Green Belt is one of my favorite things about Idaho Falls. A walkway surrounding the falls and a wide birth of the Snake River, this is a great place to frequent in the warmer months. Joggers and cyclists can usually be found circling the belt and the lookout point is often visited by families and tourists. I love taking my kids on walks around the Green Belt in the summer. I also love the many events that take place there(our favorite is the Snake River Youth Jam).

Lovely little area along the Snake River in downtown Idaho Falls. We were in the final leg of our epic Road Trip of 2010 — on the way home — and my husband had talked me into pushing on to Pocatello to start the next morning that much farther along the road, but I still wanted to stop in Idaho Falls to see the falls. His family had lived here when he was just a baby and spoke highly of the city so I wanted to see what was up. We found easy street parking on River Pkwy and started exploring. There is quite a long walkway along the river, it is paved with plenty of places to stop and take in the views. On the south side of Broadway there is a pedestrian bridge over the river, and if you keep exploring you will find a little spot with a small bypass of the river, just right for wading in. We saw a little bit of graffiti which is why I’m not rating it 5 stars. As for the falls, we were surprised to see that the dam is L-shaped and the long side runs parallel to the river. It was rather interesting.
