I went in to get a tragus piercing done at The Spider’s Web, because I read and heard great things about this place. The piercing went fine, minimal pain the guy that did it was very nice, but a hour later the ball came off the hoop earring. Being at work at the time I was going to stop by after work since the website said open till 9:30, I got done with work at 8. Walked up to the door it was locked, no lights on, but a couple cars were in the parking lot. I knocked on the door and got no answer. Will not be going back here again, and I’m going somewhere else to have the ball put back in.

While staying in Idaho with my sister this past summer I decided I wanted to get some more ink done and made an appointment at Spiders Web. My sister decided to get a tattoo as well, and since it was going to be her first one I wanted it to be a very positive experience for her. We took our designs in and Courtney(Jamie’s apprentice and the front clerk) suggested which artists we should use for our particular designs, either Nick or Jamie. Nick was booked up for awhile and since I had limited time in Idaho we went with Jamie. Courtney made our appointments for the following day, and my sister and I were supposed to get our tattoos done back to back. I was skeptical that we’d both get our tattoos finished, but Courtney assured us that it could be done. Jamie texted me the designs he drew up and after a little tweaking I was satisfied with the line drawings. Our appointment was at 3:00pm and as we were driving to Idaho Falls(a forty minute drive from home) Courtney said they were running behind and would have to push back our appointment 30 minutes. We were already on the road driving there so we just decided to go there and wait in the lounge area. It turns out that we had to wait nearly 1 hr more than expected and we were annoyed. Things happen, but seems unprofessional not to keep appts. Jamie chose to work on me first and my sister second. Jamie’s laid back, talkative, and friendly, but a bit slow. I don’t mean mentally. I don’t mind someone being slow when it comes to tattooing – you are marking your body permanently after all, and it shouldn’t be a rushed process. However, my designs were VERY simple, no details or shading and I got out of there 5 ½ hrs later. After about 1 ½ hrs in, I reminded him that my sister was scheduled to get tattooed also, and at the rate he was working it didn’t seem like it was going to happen. So Courtney called another artist named Ceasar to come in and work on my sister. I will tell you about my experience 1st and my sister’s experience next. Jamie was talkative and liked to crack jokes. I didn’t mind, I thought it was fun to chat. But the tattoos were taking him a super long time and I eventually got impatient and irritable. I’m not exaggerating on the simplicity of the designs. I’ve gotten a much larger tattoo from another place with more detail and it only took an hour and a half. I know not every artist is the same, and I’m ok with that. But because of that, it doesn’t make sense that at Spiders they charge by the hour. Other places I’ve been to, artists charge by the size of the tattoo, amount of detail, etc. In general, the experience could’ve been better. I should’ve made sure Jamie CLEARLY knew exactly what I wanted. A few things were«fly by the seat of my pants» kind of decisions, such as colors, placement, design tweaks during the process, etc. That’s my fault for not specifically nailing down what I wanted before we started. Doing that gives the artist a lot of creative authority over your body, and maybe you’re not gonna like THEIR vision. Trust that your artist knows your wishes and all the fine details from the beginning. Jamie is talented obviously(I couldn’t do what he does) but he doesn’t have much eye for detail. One of the tattoos I got was a matching one with my sister that was my original artwork. I worked out every detail I wanted on paper and requested to use that distinct sketch for the tattoo. He was sloppy and had adjusted some of the proportions of my drawing, instead of following the exact outline. That kind of made me sad, especially when I saw the matching tattoo my sister had from the other artist, and realized that her’s was perfect, not a detail missing. Ceasar has amazing line work and attention to specifics. Anyway, after it was said and done I just wanted to pay and leave, but Jamie requested I pay him in cash, rather than using my card. I didn’t expect to pay in cash so I didn’t have any. I had to walk with my shirt partially off over to the convenient store down the road and use the ATM. Two $ 10 dollar fees for using the ATM, since I had to make two transactions(I was only allowed to take $ 200 at a time for whatever reason.) Okay I’m just ranting. But why make my life harder, right? My sister wasn’t able to get her larger tattoo finished because she started quite a bit later than I did and Ceasar had other things going that night. Disappointing that only an hour’s worth of work left and he had to stop, which meant waiting for the 1st part to heal before completing it(3×3 piece.) Ceasar is quiet, doesn’t talk, and just gets to work. He did a beautiful job with the line and shading on my sister’s tattoos. Like I said, eye to detail and very talented. My sister’s healed nicely and after 2 mo. her’s is perfectly smooth while parts of mine are still raised. Jamie had a bit of a heavy hand in some areas. Sidenote: I also got my nose pierced here. Leo isn’t friendly but did a fine job sticking a needle in my face. Healed fine.

Came here to get my first tattoo and the experience was better than I could ever imagine. Met with Nick on Tuesday to get and an appointment, booked for the next morning. He was very straight-forward, professional, and helpful from getting the design figured to prepping to the after-care. He is amazing at what he does and you can tell he really enjoys it. My tattoo came out great and no complaints! I recommend the Spiders Web for tattoos, especially Nick!

I have been coming here for years for various modifications and tattoos and in Idaho, this is as good as it gets. Leo is great. He’s knowledgeable, friendly and his prices are just right. I will always tip heavily here because of how well they take care of me!
