Very cute shop and friendly staff. There were a lot of ice cream flavored to choose from and the prices were good.

This is such a whirl pool of cuteness and childlike delight. Lots of stuffed animals are literally scattered everywhere. They have a lot more toys and dolls, especially teddy bears everywhere. I saw more toys than candy. They even had a glass shield with teddy bears that are locked behind this glass case that cost around $ 200. Wow. They have different doll brands such as Sesame Street, Sanrio and Hello Kitty, Disney, Nickelodeon, and generic dolls. I saw in the candy aisle more scoops and bulks of regular candy and then under the glass is the more gourmet style candy. They carry chocolate turtles, swirls, cake pops, and teddy shaped cookies. The lollipops have cute poodle faces. I enjoy the cheap candy prices they have too. They aren’t as crazy as most candy stores in Colorado. Denver can get pretty expensive quick! So beware! Great candy store. Please check it out!

We were driving on I70 and were craving some ice cream so we stopped here. We all got milkshakes and they were fantastic! This is a really cute shop with candy and other items. I highly recommend it.

So after pizza, we went walking and saw this place. It was cold and snowing outside and this lady had the doors open and was shoveling the snow. We went in and my first impressions were good. The store was cute, clean, and welcoming. The lady told me of how they make all there own ice-cream expect the sherbet and one other one that I forgot. Gluten free i think? She gave us a few samples and they were amazing! So, I bought some ice-cream and my wife got some chocolate chi candies. They were amazing as well. This place was cool. If i’m ever back in Colorado, I’ll be back.

Excellent ice cream. Got a single scoop of coconut crisp for $ 4.25 on a sugar cone — which as big as a two normal scoops!

Ice cream is AMAZING! The vanilla was almost like marshmallows. It was fluffy and soft as well as great taste. I also tried the flavor with chunks of toffee in it, can’t recall the name, again it was AMAZING too. the toffee chunks were soft and buttery. I could eat a whole box and not feel bad about it! We have also tried the cinnamon candies from their other store in Idaho Springs. Tasty for sure. Ooh… Beware… They also give very large scoops! I couldn’t finish my two scoop which seemed more like a 3 scoop! They’re not shy with the servings!

Excellent black cherry homemade ice cream on a chocolate homemade waffle cone. I’ve had quite a few(tummy grumbles for MORE) chocolate covered homemade waffle cones, and to my absolute delight this cone had a a few satisfying differences– but to be concise and also complete– this cone was a little thicker and more moist than other cones I have had in the past and this allowed for some kind of improved insulation(or was it the elevation perhaps?) that kept my sweet and creamy goodness from melting quite so quickly– or maybe I was just really eating it THAT quickly. I have no regrets! This single scoop of goodness only set my back about $ 5(on the pricier end of single scoops) but for the area(Idaho Springs) it was in the range of what was around it. I wouldn’t seek out this establishment unless I was in the neighborhood for its ice cream, but if you are around– you should definitely stop by– it will be far cheaper than the $ 10 sandwich place down the street. Grab a dark chocolate salted pretzel for 60¢ if you are feeling a little less splurginess. They offer a variety of chocolatey(white and medium and dark oh my!) varieties of things to choose from. I was hoping my companion would’ve gotten a strawberry shake(his fav), but alas, I had no excuse to enjoy and there was no way I could have had both… in a single sitting that is.

Home made ice cream? Check. Locally made chocolate, popcorn, rock candy and fudge? Check. Lots of kitschy toys and postcards? Check. Most importantly, ridiculously tasty fancy chocolates made with ingredients like cardamom, olive salt, lavender, rose hips and other awesome herbs and spices? HELLYES. These are literally some of the most unique and tasty chocolates I’ve had in my life, and we stop in Idaho Springs any time we are near by simply to purchase some of these delicious morsels. Also, Spearmint Chip Ice Cream. ‘Nuf said.

I’m confused by the reviews because I thought this was a new place– the owner said they just opened a few months ago. Anyway, we thought the shop was really charming. We were impressed that the ice cream is fully homemade in the shop. The owner was very helpful and told us that the spearmint chip ice cream is made with real spearmint oil which makes it have a stronger taste, and the mocha almond chip ice cream has real coffee in it so it definitely contains caffeine. I ended up having the cookie dough ice cream and they even make the cookie dough in the store too. They have tons of choices of chocolate and candy and brittle and fudge and popcorn too. They have cute stuffed animals around the store. My husband thought his sipping chocolate was just OK– maybe he didn’t acquire the taste yet. The bathroom is super clean and very pretty too, by the way– beautiful door. This is a shop that has something for everyone– check it out!

What a sweet place to stop by on you way to the mountains(or back from). Candies, fudge, brittles, shortbread cookies, caramel pop corns, and all sorts of chocolate. I’ve always liked chocolate turtles, but this place spins out more varieties than I’ve seen anywhere else. How about chocolate pinwheels(with cashew), or chocolate stars(with macadamia nuts) or chocolate hubcaps(with almonds)? Yum. Ice cream looked good, although I was too over-ice-creamed on that day to have another one, so read other Unilocal reviews please. A cute store with seating /dine-in option.

I was introduced to the Georgetown Valley Candy Company store in 2008, by my at the time girlfriend. She shared with me a local secret that had also been a family favorite and tradition of hers for well over 15 years. They have candy and ice cream, but their Carmel Corn, HOLY S***! They make the best Plain Caramel Corn, Cashew Caramel Corn and Peanut Caramel Corn I have ever had. I’m not kidding. It’s the BOMB .com! So, I’m sure I’ve been here a good dozen times now. When we would head up to Keystone, Breck or A-Basin from Denver to ski, we would have to stop at the Georgetown Valley Candy Company to bring home a bag of their caramel corn. Now, since we moved to Grand Junction, we actually have been stopping in more frequently as we head back to Denver. My advice, if you’re cruising along I-70 and need to stop for a break and need to fulfill a sweets craving, you now know where to go. Georgetown Valley Candy Company recently opened up a store in Idaho Springs right next to Beaujo’s Pizza and Tommy Knocker’s Brewery. I was pretty excited when I saw that.

Being a hot day, Brent N. and I decided to stop here on our way back down from the mountains for a cool treat. The store has an old-timey vibe to it and has a wide variety of homemade candy. The ice cream line wraps around the store and it’s hard to resist picking up a few things to add to your purchase while waiting to order your scoop. That said, the line does get very long, but the scoopers are friendly and efficient and customers really don’t wait long at all to order their ice cream. However, it can get bottle necked while waiting to pay as there is only one register. Their homemade ice cream is wonderful! I had 2 scoops and the flavors I chose were the coconut brittle and turtle sundae. The coconut brittle was a sweet cream base with their homemade coconut brittle and peanuts mixed in. The turtle sundae was a vanilla ice cream with homemade caramel, fudge and pecans swirled into it. If your summer includes a trip up to the mountains this summer, definitely make a stop in Georgetown on your way up or down to check out this great little shop!

Nice store with lots of varieties from candies, chocolates, salt water taffy, fudge, caramel corn to ice cream. They even sell nice umbrellas & teapots. Their dark cherry ice cream is good. Crowded & a big hit for both kids & adults.

Formerly the Fort Mackinac Candy Factory… well, formerly as of about 5 years ago. I have a long long history with this place. Years and years ago when I was a young girl and my family would go to the mountains to snowmobile, we would often stop in Georgetown on the way home and this candy spot was our reason for stopping. Truly, I couldn’t tell you what else this town has to offer, I associate Georgetown with candy!!! Recently took my family to the mountains for a little holiday and I admit that I spent the entire time looking forward to the end when we could go to the candy factory! Yes we fished, and we hiked, etc. but what I really wanted was that childhood memory recaptured. Finally the moment arrived, on our way home, pulled off the Georgetown exit, parked and walked to the factory. You can smell it from two blocks away, mmmmmmm! They make tons of chocolate candies, hard candies, caramel corn, ice cream, and even sugar free candies. Part of the fun is looking at all the little white boxes and reading the labels to see what is inside, mint chocolate bark, white chocolate cashew clusters, english toffee, etc. To my surprise and delight, they have a new(new to me) line of chocolates called spice traders chocolates that have exotic ingredients and spices. I got a box of the Siam Bar, semi sweet chocolate with cashews, curry, and coconut, Yummmm! I had a lot of trouble deciding what to get but after buying some for all of my kids, I was feeling a little poor and settled for the one box. So, there is a reason they get four vs five stars. They are in a good sized spot but the way things are setup it is very very crowded even with only a few other people in the store. Actually, it goes beyond crowded to uncomfortable and even awkward. I got really tired of trying to make room for myself and others where there was none. They have this little loft area, and it is filled with, well what looks like junk. Doesn’t add anything to the store and seems to be a very bad use of space cause I think they could put a seating area up there or at least relocate some of the merchandise! Also wanted to mention that they have a big candy making area in the store area and it’s fun to watch them making the different confections. Next time you are heading home from the mountains or just looking for something new to do, go to Georgtown for a ‘sweet’ time!!!
